    Thank you for showing us a journey we wouldn't normally see. No problem with old coaches so long as they're clean and functional.

      Thank you for watching :) The line from Bratislava/Vienna or Budapest to Split is known. This one is a bit rare, not that well advertised I would say, but nice. I liked that they call it retro, so one knows what to expect.

    Thanks for the great video! I enjoyed this trip last week, joining the train in Budapest-Déli on the way to Koper. The delay was 95 minutes in Koper, but the way to travel there was amazing and very excited.

      @@Europe-By-Train The scenery was great. After the stop in Ljubljana you enter the mountains, later on you descent to the coastline to Koper. Very scenic landscape there. Due to constuction works on the line, the train passed some sections a bit slower, that you enjoyed the landscape a bit longer.

    Thank you for this interesting video. I usually travel in the Slovenian part of the composition. The Dlsv carriage in some other times was used for luggage and transport of poultry, and today it provides a lor of space for bycicles. Yesterday the train was delayed more than 2 h in arrival to Koper, due to loco breakdown, among other reasons. Small correction: carriages from and to Rijeka are usually added/removed in Ljubljana.

    • @Europe-By-Train
      @Europe-By-Train  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your feedback :) The Dlsv carriage has a logo of bicycle on, but when I looked inside, I did not see any rack to hold them, so was not sure. Yes, now I know, they connect in Ljubljana. It was my bad - I looked at my phone while being sleepy, and the GPS showed me a wrong location. I added some correction marks in the video, but they are not that visible unfortunately.

    I love the old sleeping cars / couchettes, sometimes they use them in Hungary on short trips in day configuration. My only complaint is they don't come with AC, so it's not very fun in 35°C - 40°C weather. lol

    • @Europe-By-Train
      @Europe-By-Train  4 месяца назад +1

      I didn't know :) I was once on Regiojets daytime service in the Czech Republic in the sleeping carriage in the seating configuration. I wish I could just lie down. The missing AC might be an issue. At least the carrier was open about it. With 20°C at night is not that bad, you can cool it with the open window before going to sleep. But daytime... that's risky.

    The old slovenian and hungarian coaches convey some kind of real special old and romantic charme. I don't know what it is, but it makes me feel cozy even from looking at them

    This train should be cancelled, as it only causes chaos on the Slovenian part of the route.
    Because of these shitty Hungarian cars, the Slovenian "coast express" has to run in loco-hauled composition with compartment cars, meaning huge undercapacity. It causes congestion between Ljubljana and Koper, people even need to sit on the floor in bicycle carriage.
    These cars to Budapest should be suspended, and the seasonal "coast express" turned into year-round Intercity service operated by SŽ Stadler units, doubled in the summer to provide enough seats for our passengers.

    • @Europe-By-Train
      @Europe-By-Train  3 месяца назад +1

      Is the congestion really caused by one seasonal, overnight train? Maybe something to do with the single track between Divaca and Koper for max 80km/h? There is almost no service between Divaca and Koper, I could not even get to Koper from Ljubljana, as that part was mostly replaced by bus - did the planned works for the second track already started, since they are being discussed for the last 20 years? If there is a high demand, why SZ did not send the Stadler train to support this slot?

    • @markoobid2005
      @markoobid2005 3 месяца назад

      @@Europe-By-Train I meant, overcrowding on the train, sorry. Used the wrong word.
      Yes there are numerous complaints to SŽ to drop the Budapest cars and replace the loco hauled service with Stadlers, but they are deaf and still continue that pointless "Retro Istria" service.

    Oh my god I would prefer to catch a long distance bus ... better price, better confort and a same route time. This is garbage and expensive.

    • @Europe-By-Train
      @Europe-By-Train  4 месяца назад +2

      I prefer to have a personal space, privacy, always working toilet, ability to walk around, get fresh air anytime, wash myself, change the clothes and have the breakfast served to the table :) This I call a better comfort. But I agree, that the price and speed matter too.
