Suddenly this popped up in my AutoPlay on RUclips.
The story behind this track is quite interesting (to those who care of course):
My mother *and* my mother-in-law were both diagnosed with serious forms of cancer and in the (false) hope they would recover, I composed this hopeful song (as an escape from the harsh reality and as a thank you and respect to my mother-in-law and especially my own mother). In the same year they both passed, but this ode stands.

That's beautiful, thank you so much for this piece - I loved it when I first heard it about 20 years ago and it's still my absolute favourite chiptune to this day. It's not even exaggeratory to say that it's helped me through some really dark times.

I remember listening to this song shortly after someone I used to be in a choir with passed away. I felt something strange in the music; all of the complicated feelings that come with loss flowed into me and it felt like a song understood what I was going through. Reading this years later it speaks to me about how Jeroen Tel is truly a master of his craft, he is someone who knows how to communicate specific emotions through his music, and knowing that I was feeling what he was feeling while he composed this -- I understand now what the religious mean when they say they are "blessed" to have experienced something.

It is exactly that. I dedicated the song to SHINE (my then girlfriend), because her mother passed away first... (for comfort), but of course I kept in mind my own mother was about to pass away too...
It was hard to decide who to dedicate it to, first. (I reckoned I would dedicate it to my then GF SHINE and her mother, since it played out first and I am not sorry for that at all... it expressed all the emotions playing out at the time.
