I have ADD and can't speak for everyone, but Adderall has the opposite affect on me than someone without ADD. It slows my mind down so I can focus easier and not get distracted as much. It also helps me get a good night sleep by keeping my mind from racing.
So stimulants actually do have the same physiological effects on people who have ADHD and on those who don't. However, people with ADHD have poor functional connectivity in the prefrontal Cortex of their brain. Their D2 dopamine receptors don't work properly. What this means is that their brain doesn't properly respond to rewards and has trouble with attention, emotions, motivation, motor control, and a few other things. A stimulant such as Adderall, produces more dopamine (and norepinephrine) and blocks the reuptake of dopamine, leaving it in the synapse longer, allowing more time for the dopamine receptors to absorb it. So this essentially turns a brain starving for stimulation (ADHD brain) into one that has the proper baseline of simulation to function properly in the world. This can often feel like the calming of the mind, because you're not in a state of constant "brain starvation." I also have ADHD and I'm as calm and relaxed as can be on my medication.
i have been told that exactly by friends... they said its a downer for ADD but an upper for non-ADD users. some sell their pills at parties. brain chemistry is interesting to me
Rogan expressed interest in talking with President Trump. But he also expressed concern of backlash. He also stated that he doubts President Trump would accept an invite onto his podcast. I think at the end of the day, it boils down as to whether President Trump wants to and has time. Even though Rogan refused canididates such as Warren and Binden onto his show - with the exception of Tulsi and Sanders - I do believe that Rogan would be entertained with the idea of sitting down with Trump.
He literally just said he has no interest to talk to Trump. Doesn't make sense to me. You would think with the wide variety of guest he has Trump would be high on the list
Joe is legit talking to Jamie like he's his own personal Siri lmaoooo. The way he voice to text dictated asking about the Adderall Rxs killed me hahaha 40:56
True, and he seems to have a better grasp of economics than Joe. And Joe should know better, he's had Peter Schiff on multiple times, who knows his economics.
That's the thing though, there's nothing in daily life that can compare or contrast. It's like any knowledge, people don't know what they don't know, and the vast majority of the world don't understand why he references DMT so much because they've never experienced it and unfortunately never will. Possibly the most profound experience of my life so far.
@@fihoran8947 " they've never experienced it and unfortunately never will. Possibly the most profound experience of my life so far. " Why is that unfortunate though? I had the most profound experience of my life in the midst of a crisis after I had a realisation and the feeling and clarity of mind and the knowledge was just so vast and full of love and joy and all-encompassing. I have trouble finding words for it. I knew that I am me but everything at the same time. and that came without any help like a drug, but it came spontaneously and naturally. Like Penn, I have no interest in trying DMT and similar drugs either, because I don't a gateway to the "other side" cause I can open it without drugs
@@MrHookernugget The problem is they aren't for everybody and we should stop pretending like it is. There's plenty of people out there who have things like bipolar, or schizophrenia, or just a shaky grip on reality as it is. It's not that everybody who doesn't do psychedelics is "inexperienced" or "doesn't understand". Sober people aren't any better than people who trip, and people who trip aren't any better than sober people.
Great conversation with one exception. Penn needs to read the actual history of Jimi Hendrix's death to learn that a pharmacy filled a sleeping medication incorrectly, so when Jimi took his regular sleeping dose it was unknowingly an overdose (mixup caused by Brits refilling a Dutch script). Jimi played London clubs at night and slept during the day so he regularly took sleeping meds. His girlfriend immediately saw the problem and called the ambulance, the ambulance took Jimi to the London hospital and at the hospital, a physician ignored his breathing difficulty during triage and left him to suffocate in the hallway. The physician was prosecuted and his license was revoked. The idea that Jimi Hendrix was irresponsible with recreational drugs is incorrect.
I can't find any evidence of the pharmacist part, but most articles claim that he took too many of his girlfriend's sleeping pills. So at least it doesn't seem like he was killed by recreational drugs, which is what I thought for a long time. Thanks for pointing that out.
He's getting annoying with that shit already. He's talking out of his ass and he acts like nothing will be done to prevent that. If someone's working on something like that, there's another person working on a way to block it...
Joe isn't afraid of Big Brother or anyone else reading his mind because there's not a goddamn thing in there. He's a nice guy and has some skill, but he hasn't ever had an original thought in his entire fucking life. Dude's brain is more maleable than Silly Putty. Put him across from a lefty, BOOM he's a hardcore socialist and wants all the billionaires taxed heavily. Put him across from a rabid right-winger, BLAMMO he's jumping into jackboots and ranting about how SJW millenials have ruined everything.
Guys the dude would eat dogshit on camera if the guest was popular enough and talked him into it. He has no core beliefs or thoughts or philosophy. Except for "I like meat and drugs and watching people beat each other up" he really has no opinions at all. Which is all perfectly fine, but don't pretend he's some ultra-clever genius sneakily bringing you the best and brightest. He's not that bright or devious. His best work is when it's just him and his goofy friends hanging out being goofy, and that's fine too.

Yeah there has been a switch that's been hit, cant tell if its youtube, or whatever but joe has clearly left all that behind in regards to politics and has turned to complete negativity (which is another thing joe preaches hahah, once again contradicting himself) in regards to every political situation involving a viewpoint besides the left's!
It's incredibly true and it actually comes from a lot of Buddhist and Vedic thought that said the beginning of June people could use a much different diet.
I noticed that at one moment in particular, but in fairness, Penn is often deadly serious. Both of these guys change gears often, from riffing to pontificating, and I could understand misreading now then. But I just think Joe smokes too much also so there's that, while Penn is practically straight edge
Joe starts saying “it’s entirely possible” at 38:20 but stops himself and says something meaning the same thing. I think he does read the internet comments
Of course he reads them. He is an ego maniac. Think about it, his whole life and financial situation completely revolves around himself and what people think of him. Funny Rogan hates Trump for the same qualities they share.
@@mota2028 I did not mean they are alike in all ways Bryan. Rogan acts as if Trump is somehow a bad person because he is very outspoken and verbal, yet Rogan is the same in that sense. Again, Rogan's whole life revolves around what people think of him and as a politician Trump's does as well. I just find it funny that Joe can't admit it.
I don't understand why Rogan says that he does not want to know the President at all. Even if he doesn't like him, I thought the whole point of this podcast was learning about important people
I think people would probably end up liking Trump if they hung out with him for a few and no one wants to like him. Trump seems like the kind of person who's ok in small doses. Contrary to what Penn said I do think Trump gives a shit about ppl.

This is one of my favorite episodes. The flow of conversation was on point.
This can often feel like the calming of the mind, because you're not in a state of constant "brain starvation."
I also have ADHD and I'm as calm and relaxed as can be on my medication.
That's a very well documented phenomenon. It's why they give Ritalin (a stimulant) to hyperactive kids. Counterintuitively it calms them down.
@@Marlfox570 Best 3 paragraph explanation for why simulants can calm someone with ADHD while making someone without ADHD hyper. Nice.
ADD is fake and made up

People to get on the podcast - top 3:
1. Trey parker / matt stone
2. Norm macdonald
3. Donald trump
He denied a bunch of other Candidates, idk if he'll have Trump on.
Norm would be gold!!!
Trey Parker and Matt Stone would be absolutely phenomenal.

I really enjoyed Teller's contributions to the conversation.

God damn it, I read this comment 4 minutes into the video and now it's all I can hear when Penn speaks
He sounds like Dr. Fauci used to sound before he got the surgery, maybe Penn needs the same surgery.

Penn: Yeah, idk I've just never had any experience with drugs and I'm not really interested in trying them.
Joe: Well, maybe you should try some DMT
That's the thing though, there's nothing in daily life that can compare or contrast. It's like any knowledge, people don't know what they don't know, and the vast majority of the world don't understand why he references DMT so much because they've never experienced it and unfortunately never will. Possibly the most profound experience of my life so far.
@@fihoran8947 " they've never experienced it and unfortunately never will. Possibly the most profound experience of my life so far.
"
Why is that unfortunate though? I had the most profound experience of my life in the midst of a crisis after I had a realisation and the feeling and clarity of mind and the knowledge was just so vast and full of love and joy and all-encompassing. I have trouble finding words for it. I knew that I am me but everything at the same time. and that came without any help like a drug, but it came spontaneously and naturally. Like Penn, I have no interest in trying DMT and similar drugs either, because I don't a gateway to the "other side" cause I can open it without drugs
Just because you have an inexperience mind and don't understand these cultures doesn't mean that they aren't great.

Once a year? , please guys, at least ! I really enjoyed this. A relaxed. natural conversation.
Great episode for sure
Took him 14 minutes to get to 'Gut Flora'. New record Joe!
plus only 32 minutes to hit the DMT pitch
Devon Ull damn wow I didn’t know that
Your source?
Thanks for clearing that up. :)
I can't find any evidence of the pharmacist part, but most articles claim that he took too many of his girlfriend's sleeping pills. So at least it doesn't seem like he was killed by recreational drugs, which is what I thought for a long time. Thanks for pointing that out.
@estoban kupah you have an eyewitness for that I have an interview on file have an actual eyewitness that states this or just hearsay

Joe, three minutes into the episode: "I think we're pretty close to being able to read minds."
That's called predictive programming. He has to bring up certain topics.
