You played on the archived version? (the one available on steam or from their website) I got the old .swf flash file of the game from the web archive and it doesn't show you the win screen on round 255, i decompiled the swf file and read some of the code and they don't store the wave as an 8 bit integer, but rather with their own class named CryptScore, which uses 32 bit integers, but it's sort of obfuscated (probably to make it harder for someone to cheat with cheat engine or something like that). Also the reason it stops sending bloons at wave 250 is because they just made it stop generating new waves at that point (for some reason they generate the waves before the game starts instead of doing it in real time)
What are the DPS and pierce of Sun gods, MOAB Maulers, and Monkey Wizards? I'm seeing inconsistent information on which towers are required for the best freeplay setup. The wiki claims Sun Gods have 13 pierce per ray (and it shoots 3 rays) but I find that hard to believe. Same with Tempest Tornado, its "supposed" to only deal 1 damage to MOAB-class bloons but it seems to do way more. ruclips.net/video/5cDDotfYwAI/видео.html The last round, they are definitely dealing way more than 1 damage per tornado to the BFBs.
I just watched the video by MackanRules on this run, and it's probably one of the most impressive Bloons feat I've seen! The lag near the end must've been insane, how many frames per second were the later rounds running at?
@@halcyonzomboid been looking over the code (decompiled the .swf file found on web archive) and well... it's not exactly well-written, it runs a large amount of unnecessary string comparisons every time anything happens and that's not the only issue
Do you have some of the paid upgrades ? I have tried and failed with more Sun Gods than you have, and even squeezed in a few Frost Towers all to no avail. (Died at 176/168). Also, by chance do you know if Ninja Kiwi leader board ever updates ? Props to you !
@A D I did not pay for any upgrades. I think the most likely reason you failed with more SGs than me is you built your SGs AFTER the Monkey Beacon, which unfortunately means they don't get affected. You need to place your MBs as late as possible because in my observation only towers placed before the MB get the range/rate upgrades. I haven't the foggiest idea whether NinjaKiwi updates their leaderboards, but I'm happy to say this is the first documented video footage of a Round 250 clear (and for good reason!!). Cheers :)
Damn this is dedication. No doubt those final founds were a complete pain to play with over an hour for each run. How much footage did you finally have after finishing all 250 levels?
Hey thehetmanmapping, yeah towards the end it was more like 2-2.5 hours for each round. In total, the 250 rounds totaled over 150 hours of gameplay footage (of course very heavily skewed towards the later portion) taking up something like 1TB of space!!
Selling and rebuying the same item causes you to lose some money (for the upgraded Dart Monkey, you lose 72 Money). But the infusion of cash you get from selling can be enough to buy or upgrade a Banana Farm one round earlier. If you can buy a BF, that's an extra 80 Money; similarly, if you can upgrade it from More Bananas to Banana Plantation one round earlier, that's an extra 250-120 = 130 Money. So *if selling the tower and rebuying it loses you less money than you gain from the Banana Farm/upgrade,* you sell and rebuy! Hope that explains it :)
Nice. So mixing in Monkey Apprentices at the end of the track is worse than massing Sun Gods? There was a Round 200 video where the player had a mix of Sun Gods, Monkey Apprentices, and MOAB maulers. Is there any placement shenanigans where MOAB maulers are better than Sun Gods in freeplay?
@spectre9065 Thanks for your comment! My first efforts to break Round 200 with MOAB Maulers (referencing the exact same video you mentioned) showed that at that point things became very inconsistent. I did some quick calculations on DPS for MOAB Maulers vs. Sun Gods and found the latter to be superior in almost every instance. Monkey Apprentices (upgraded to Tempest Tornado of course) are only able to affect Bloons, not MOABs or BFBs, hence they would only be useful in the downstream portion of the map. Testing revealed that having them was less efficient than just spamming Sun Gods. *Important note:* You should place _as many Sun Gods as possible_ before placing the Monkey Beacons, because in the late game they seem to affect only towers placed before them and not after. This is especially important since you need the Jungle Drums upgrade to boost the DPS of as many Sun Gods as possible in the late game, otherwise you will not be able to chew through BFB-walls. I am only barely able to survive using this setup, albeit indefinitely. Hope that was informative! -HZ
@@halcyonzomboid Do lightsaber throwers have a damage bonus against MOABs? They seem just as effective vs MOABs as maulers, possibly more since they can hit 70 bloons at once.
