IMO, BTD3 is when you can see what would become modern BTD beginning to take shape. The increased amount of upgrades, the appearance of icons such as the Missile Tower upgrade and Plasma Super Monkey, the Beacon being the first support tower, etc.

When it came out I played it for hours and hours, during the car rides to our destinations and in the afternoons when I was tired. BTD6 has and will be a great game

bloons as a game series has done an amazing job at evolving its formula while somehow still feeling the same. every time i look at past bloons games i am amazed at how many things arent there that im used to in btd6
One thing that worries how they'll do the next games. They can't just add more upgrades and stronger blimp, it'll eventually come to the point there is just way too much and would make the game more complex. I wonder if later for BTD7 or a later installment if they will take the Pokemon approach

Yes, BTD was indeed the most played tower defence around 2010. But there was a certain other small flash game TD franchise around that era probably many of us have played as kids: Gemcraft. You fused gems and played through a campaign, different modes and unlockable upgrades, instead of health there's mana which is also used for defences, basically it was way more complicated and not necessarily made for kids. But kids played them. And today there's a steam game. Eh, just wanted to mention it here to wake some people's memories and how great the games were even back then
I used to play BTD all the time. Probably an unhealthy amount. As I grew up I started playing more games like COD and Halo. One night I came home from work and was about to play some Halo with my friends. We were going to meet up in about half an hour and so I hoped on Twitch for a while until they joined in the VC. I was just browsing, and I saw somebody playing BTD6. It was either ISAB or Aliens rock. In that moment I was taken back several years in the past. All those times almost getting caught by the teacher, having dreams about being a bloon trying to escape from the darts and tacks. I loved these games and still do. All these years and even the oldest versions still have a charm to them that is almost unmatched by any game I have ever played. Thank you NK for making such great games and continueing to help them improve while still keeping that childlike magic alive.

What makes btd6 so lit is the fact that it exists. Like everyone thought btd5 was the final game- everyone thought it was the end. And for 7 long years, it was. In fact the first 5 games came out within a span of 4 years (2007-2011), and btd6 came out 7 years after btd5 (2018). But like nobody thought it was gonna happen. I remember talking to my friend in 6th grade about how lit it would be if btd6 was a thing and if they had crossbow towers (I had the idea first!) it would be so cool and he was like “yeah but that’s probably never gonna happen. And it did!
Think that a lot of stuff can be added to bt6 later on. Imagine* what could happen if they port the shield bloons and zombie bloons from bloons adventure time to bt6.

H is in btd7, a grey and orange bloons, everything from btd1-6 will make it to btd7, and there are alot of new monkeys too, I can't remember all the new ones but I can only remember some which are:pokebloon trainer, bloon destroyer, sonic monkey and guardian monkey, there are some returning towers that will make it to btd7 like:bloonchipper, dart minigun monkey and the spike o pult (as its own tower), AND there will be special agents from btd5, that's all I know I hope it helps
each td game has so many big differences td 1: simple, yet difficult (lack of towers, lack of resources, equal to a chimps game essentially) td 2: maps, difficulty, extra towers, new bloons, few upgrades td 3: Maps, extra towers, new bloons, upgrades, intro, better layout td 4: Maps. extra towers, new bloons, way more upgrades, intro, incredible leap in layout, features, new modes, better designs, unlocking upgrades and towers, td 5: way more maps, extra towers, new bloons, way more upgrades, intro, skyrocket in layout, features, currency, more spin off games of td5, new mode, better designs td 6: more maps, extra towers, loads more bloons, way more upgrades, intro, heavenly layout change, currency, features, loads more modes, monkey knowledge, voice acting, new tower system (heros), heavenly designs. there are probably more you could name, but these are tropes that ive been seeing. after each game, they learn from mistakes and fix bugs, listen to their community and change/ bring in something, they do their absolute best when it comes to updates and games in general. this is most definitely one of the most impressive franchises based off of a tower defense style game. it started off simple like any other, then turned into a powerful influence on the tower defense genre and flash game society.
FYI, the latter 3 are all pretty new. Clicker Heroes is from like 2016, and Flipline's latest game came out this year. Run 3 is like 2014- and features a soundtrack by _THE_ F-777 of Geometry Dash fame. Sadly only 3 of the songs from the soundtrack are even used in the game as far as I can tell. Also I am the actual QUEEN of Evolvo Plus. I can beat it on Insane no sweat no cheats- or with cheats, specifically the adjustable stats cheat, which I use to make myself near-uncontrollably fast and up the speed of the enemies as well, ergo making it HARDER. Speaking of F-777, the song I use to get myself in the zone in order to do that is Hydra.
I used to play some of the early ones on Newgrounds back in the days, but for some reason the b5 racetrack at 15:18 hit me the hardest, a big crit to nostalgia for some reason.

That’s because it’s the youngest and came out so separately. Imagine if a couple had 5 children within 4-5 years. They’re all pretty close in age right? And then 7 years after their last child, they have another child. Obviously they’re gonna raise it differently and how it grows up will be vastly different from the first 5 because of the huge gap in age
Monkey city was my personal favorite, I felt like I was some kind of leader behind a growing empire as I was gaining territory and it still had the charm that made btd fun in the first place.
Mr. Moji Gaming it was alright but after a while the territory around me was too hard to grab and I couldn’t get the tier 4 upgrades bc a) the special buildings were to expensive for most of them (I had a few though) and b) it’s almost impossible to get them in game. The actual bloon popping part of the game was too short. Like, 20 rounds to prepare for a BFB? I think not

I want a short documentary or book on the complete history of how Bloons came to arise. The history of the series and why they stuck with their sole concept. As well the ideas and thinking that went behind the different towers. Its just something about monkeys popping balloons that makes me giggle for some reason. The idea is absolutely flawless. So good.
I remember playing BTD 1-3 a ton when I was younger. I think I played 3 the most. I just bought 5 for iOS and I’m having a blast getting back into the series.

i like how you added text to the game to explain what was new, instead of just showing various game clips from the different games like most people do, it shows the evolution in depth instead of just the graphic improvements

What makes btd6 so lit is the fact that it exists. Like everyone thought btd5 was the final game- everyone thought it was the end. And for 7 long years, it was. In fact the first 5 games came out within a span of 4 years (2007-2011), and btd6 came out 7 years after btd5 (2018). But like nobody thought it was gonna happen. I remember talking to my friend in 6th grade about how lit it would be if btd6 was a thing and if they had crossbow towers (I had the idea first!) it would be so cool and he was like “yeah but that’s probably never gonna happen. And it did!
Hopefully btd6 lasts even longer than btd5

BTD5 sun god has 2x as much pierce (15x3) as the BTD6 sun god (7x3). However, the BTD6 sun god shoots 50% faster than the BTD5 sun god.
The BTD5 sun god is better against Bloons, the BTD6 sun god is better against MOAB-class Bloons.
In btd battles it has no pierce cap.

H is in btd7, a grey and orange bloons, everything from btd1-6 will make it to btd7, and there are alot of new monkeys too, I can't remember all the new ones but I can only remember some which are:pokebloon trainer, bloon destroyer, sonic monkey and guardian monkey, there are some returning towers that will make it to btd7 like:bloonchipper, dart minigun monkey and the spike o pult (as its own tower), AND there will be special agents from btd5, that's all I know I hope it helps

each td game has so many big differences
td 1: simple, yet difficult (lack of towers, lack of resources, equal to a chimps game essentially)
td 2: maps, difficulty, extra towers, new bloons, few upgrades
td 3: Maps, extra towers, new bloons, upgrades, intro, better layout
td 4: Maps. extra towers, new bloons, way more upgrades, intro, incredible leap in layout, features, new modes, better designs, unlocking upgrades and towers,
td 5: way more maps, extra towers, new bloons, way more upgrades, intro, skyrocket in layout, features, currency, more spin off games of td5, new mode, better designs
td 6: more maps, extra towers, loads more bloons, way more upgrades, intro, heavenly layout change, currency, features, loads more modes, monkey knowledge, voice acting, new tower system (heros), heavenly designs.
there are probably more you could name, but these are tropes that ive been seeing. after each game, they learn from mistakes and fix bugs, listen to their community and change/ bring in something, they do their absolute best when it comes to updates and games in general.
this is most definitely one of the most impressive franchises based off of a tower defense style game. it started off simple like any other, then turned into a powerful influence on the tower defense genre and flash game society.

FYI, the latter 3 are all pretty new. Clicker Heroes is from like 2016, and Flipline's latest game came out this year. Run 3 is like 2014- and features a soundtrack by _THE_ F-777 of Geometry Dash fame. Sadly only 3 of the songs from the soundtrack are even used in the game as far as I can tell. Also I am the actual QUEEN of Evolvo Plus. I can beat it on Insane no sweat no cheats- or with cheats, specifically the adjustable stats cheat, which I use to make myself near-uncontrollably fast and up the speed of the enemies as well, ergo making it HARDER. Speaking of F-777, the song I use to get myself in the zone in order to do that is Hydra.
I used to play some of the early ones on Newgrounds back in the days, but for some reason the b5 racetrack at 15:18 hit me the hardest, a big crit to nostalgia for some reason.

That’s because it’s the youngest and came out so separately. Imagine if a couple had 5 children within 4-5 years. They’re all pretty close in age right? And then 7 years after their last child, they have another child. Obviously they’re gonna raise it differently and how it grows up will be vastly different from the first 5 because of the huge gap in age

Monkey city was my personal favorite, I felt like I was some kind of leader behind a growing empire as I was gaining territory and it still had the charm that made btd fun in the first place.
Mr. Moji Gaming it was alright but after a while the territory around me was too hard to grab and I couldn’t get the tier 4 upgrades bc a) the special buildings were to expensive for most of them (I had a few though) and b) it’s almost impossible to get them in game. The actual bloon popping part of the game was too short. Like, 20 rounds to prepare for a BFB? I think not

Its just something about monkeys popping balloons that makes me giggle for some reason. The idea is absolutely flawless. So good.
