A song so good it doesn't even need a chorus. Let's the guitar do the work.

I've never heard Meg described as a "fantastic drummer". Jack wasn't looking for a fantastic drummer. He just needed her to play the simple beats he showed her. Actually Jack really is a fantastic drummer. Listen to some of his The Dead Weather stuff where he plays drums. Jack taught her what to play because he knew that if he went and found a drummer that no one would want to play the simple beats that he was after. (The whole look at me, look at me thing) From what I understand, she never really took to the musician lifestyle and that's why she ended up quitting.

    • @nabs7741
      @nabs7741 3 года назад +47

Oh no, you have no idea what's about to happen in the next few months. Your whole perception of music is about to change. I was literally in your exact same position at one point. Into Heavy Metal, Thrash, Groove, basically a whole bunch of heavy music. And then I found Jack White. I say that because I actually found him through his solo work, unlike most that find TWS first. I know all that sounds like crazy talk, but you'll understand. Anyways, to answer your question. I recommend listening to TWS live stuff. Their live shows were absolutely insane. I have a few videos I'll link, but you said you wanted albums. So to answer your question, I recommend the first two WS albums. The White Stripes and De Stijl, specifically De Stijl. De Stijl is an absolute masterpiece of an album. As for Jack White's solo stuff, Boarding House Reach is incredible. It's way more experimental than anything he's ever done before. You honestly might not like it on your first listen. But, you'll soon realize the album is a chaotic whirlwind of creativity. I genuinely think Boarding House Reach is in the top 100(at least) albums of all time.
Here are some standout WS performances:

    Lyrics
    Yah-hee, icky thump
    Who'd-a thunk?
    Sittin' drunk
    On a wagon to Mexico
    Her hair, what a chump
    And my head
    Got a bump
When I hit it on the radio
    Red-head señorita
    Lookin' dead
    Came to said,
"I need a bed" en español
So I gave a drink of water
I'm gonna sing around the collar
    Well, I don't need a microphone
    Icky thump, with the lump
    In my throat
    Grab my coat
    And now it's reckon
    I was ready to go
Yeah, I swam beside the hair
    She had one white eye
    One blank stare
    Lookin' up, lyin' there
On a stand in her hair
    Was a candy cane
    Black rum, sugar cane
    Dry eye, somethin' strange!
La la, la la la la la la la la
    Well, Americans:
    What, nothin' better to do?
Why don't you kick yourself out?
    You're an immigrant too.
    Who's usin' who?
    What should we do?
Well you can't be a pimp
    And a prostitute too
Icky thump, handcuffed to a bunk
    Robbed blind
    Looked around
    And there was nobody else
    Left alone
I hit myself with a stone
    Went home
And learned how to clean up after myself

The white stripes were formed I think around the year 2000 and sadly they split up in 2011. :(. I went to see Jack whites concert in 2018. It was pretty good. Now they are underrated. They never were very huge, but they were a damn good band. I started listening to them in like 2006 or something, I don’t remember. I’m sorry that my idea that more people should know about the white stripes hurt your feelings.
