They were phenomenal and this song is incredible ! Meg is a fantastic drummer -- those Ludwigs though ! Jack's lyrics, voice and guitar playing are out of this world ! Love the erratic guitar solos, especially the broken phrasing when playing leads --- just like the old blues masters from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
I've never heard Meg described as a "fantastic drummer". Jack wasn't looking for a fantastic drummer. He just needed her to play the simple beats he showed her. Actually Jack really is a fantastic drummer. Listen to some of his The Dead Weather stuff where he plays drums. Jack taught her what to play because he knew that if he went and found a drummer that no one would want to play the simple beats that he was after. (The whole look at me, look at me thing) From what I understand, she never really took to the musician lifestyle and that's why she ended up quitting.

One of the all time best albums! This and his solo trio are amazing
She is one bad ass drummer!
ive never experienced nostalgia from something i didn't have when i was a child until i listened to the white stripes
What's good about the Stripes is that they were always working with different sounds, always trying a little twist here and there that might make the next song interesting. Good stuff..
Frankincensed yes! it sucks that they broke up\divorced:(
George Sevnv Their divorce happened in 2000 and is hardly the reason for the end of their band, it's most likely Meg's anxiety
+George Sevnv they were never married....duh
+Tom Bork No they we're but they broke up right before they made it big. Why do you think her name is Meg White?
+Crewchief 227 I read somewhere that White was her name and he took her name when they got married. (said while pushing white stripes geek glasses up nose with palm of hand)
I will never not rock to the chorus. I might be 95 and in wheelchair, but i stand by my word.
This riff is very similar to the riff of a Brazilian rock song called "1406" of the band mamonas assasinas (killer castor-beans)
Holy sh!t, you are right! I've never heard of this band. I just listened to it as i type this and you are so right. I'm guessing it was done on purpose and not coincidental. Either way, thank you for showing me 1406.
That's what I call Rock and Roll!
“Americans want nothing better to do, why don’t you kick yourself out, you’re an immigrant too!”
I love it!😂
Tell that to trump
PandaPower 1909 “who’s using who , what would we do , well you can’t be a pimp and a prostitute too”
Lmao. Actually, I was born here. My ancestors were immigrants, true. But I had no control over what they did since I wasn't alive in the 1600s. Sorry.
Americans are not immigrants. They settled the land. end of story.
@@SkintSNIPER262 If by "settled" you mean mass genocide of the indigenous people of this country, Oh well, whatever makes you sleep at night, To say Americans aren't immigrants is not only factually incorrect but but dismissive of actual history.
I so want to see Jack White and John Frusciante somehow cross their paths on a project and jam until the heat death of the universe
I just wanna see Jack jam with the chili peppers, because Flea and Chad are seriously one of the tightest rhythm sections in the world
Heat death of the universe should be a band name.
Legendary
Man!!!It is one of the coolest song i've ever heard.
Diosa aforrándole a la batería, y genio con guitarra. Amor al arte.
I love how barebones the White Stripes’ music is. They brought rock back to the basics in the 2000s. Makes me think of what the Ramones did in response to prog rock. I regret not seeing Jack & Meg when they came to Portland.
Hell ya ya
Jack looks nothing like Depp, yet, i always think about Depp when i look at him... it's so strange
Funny I get the same vibe. i think Jack White is the rock star that Johnny Depp wished he could be. And the hat.
He looks more like Jonathan Davis.
Same mannerisms maybe
It’s because of Edward scissor hands
He looks like Michael Cera cosplaying as Johnny Depp
This sounds like something Led Zeppelin would have made, love it
I think the middle riff sounds like War Pigs from Black Sabbath
@Greg McFarland where?
Nah this sound like the white stripes
@@xotzxt Black Sabbath were inspired by Led Zeppelin
Jared Ocampo best chance would be if Greta Van Fleet did a cover
4:05 ... They knew it...They knew it 10 years before!
When Meg started playing she was like a two year old behind the drum set. She has grown so much since then. Definitely a solid 5 year old with several years experience playing the same damn tempo over and over and over…..
DC sure likes using White Stripes songs
Mikeylangelo that's a good thing
Ya but what
problem with that?
Aqua man loves this song.
Yeah, DC loved using this song for 5 seconds. Lol.
One of the greatest songs of its era by one of the greatest bands of their era. Still just as relevant a decade and a half later, if not more so.
This song was actually inspired by the song "1406" by the Brazilian band "Mamonas Assassinas"... In other words, plagiarism
Damn that riff so simple and so great
I like that the old vids are ad free still, feel like a breath of fresh air compared to the unskippable two ads on now days bs
UNITE THE SEVEN
The seven nation army
+Rodrigo12RDH I like you
More like hobble together the five, wheres the other 2?
Caleb Daniel It meant "Unite the Seven Seas" since Aquaman is the King of Atlantis. Superman is the 6th member and one Green Lantern is supposed to join them eventually, so he's the 7th member of the JL.
Seven man army
