      Why are they different games? It should just be Engineers, starting off as Medieval Engineers, and slowly progressing into Space Engineers, as you gain more materials and the ability to create more advanced things.

      I haven't played huge amounts of it, but I personally like it. There is a fair few refinements and such I'd like to see, however I'd say it's good overall.
      A bit of refinement for distant rendering, so trees can render at a decent range without having to sneak into NASA to play it is the key optimisation I'd like to see.
      The other four things I'd like are as follows:
      A bit of improvement on the animals, I'd like to see a little bit of variety of them, it'd be nice for them to not try to walk up cliffs (I'd also like engineers to slip if trying to go up steep cliffs so fortification can use the natural landscape more easily). It'd be quite nice if you could potentially domesticate some animals to an extent. Put a cow in a little pen and milk it for...milk.
      I'd love to see rocky terrain and mountains be a bit more, rocky (when up close). It still feels a tad bit too smooth.
      I'd love to be able to claim multiple plots with a single claim block, then if I have structures spread across plots I can claim them.
      Although this last one is undoubtedly a huge challenge, It'd be awesome to see rope not just pass through objects. It'd be so cool to feed rope over a wall or such, without it just magically passing through. Even an approximation of that would be absolutely amazing.

    people really need to stop think 3 years is a long time in game development.

    • @TheSandboxSocial
      @TheSandboxSocial  6 лет назад +31

      Honestly I don't blame people for thinking the game had been abandoned based on the history of 80% of early access games. Yes 3 years isn't a long time in a development cycle however if you expect people to pay for an early access "proof of concept" project I don't think it's fair to keep people waiting over a year without any real progress or updates on the game. Regardless looks like game had some really nice updates recently so that's great to see :)

    • @annahhinman605
      @annahhinman605 6 лет назад +9

      it kinda is a long time when it's early access costs. When I look at Subnautica, for example, they've been in development too but they have massive updates a lot and this month, they are going official.
      There are other early access where I feel I been suckered...like the Conan Survivor game. That game, I feel, was created just to make money now without a whole lot of updates
      But then again, you have games where the Developers has gotten millions of dollars out of the players and has been in development for 5 years with no future date of release...or early access for that matter **cough cough Star Citizen**

    Problem is, people don't understand or appreciate the time it takes to make these games, and the hard were these small-but-capable teams put to make a bug-free fun running game using complicated physics and requiring a good bit of specs to run well.
    I about fell in love with SE back in the day just because they made WEEKLY undate in the game...that's a quick amount of time compared to most early access games taking a month or so for updates. Look at how many old EA game are on Steam that are still good ordecent, some of them maybe actually abandoned and doomed to fulfill their promises: The Forest, Planet Explorers, Stranded Deep...it takes time, which feel like forever inEA when you actually see the speed of the game. As compared to a full-release game you only hear about for a year but has been worked on for 5

    Just started playing this game and it's amazing, the depth is all I could have hoped for any more, my only wish would be for more to be going on in the world. As others have suggested, some kind of AI, towns, stuff along those lines, and especially AI you can recruit and put to work. The world is gorgeous, but it feels sort of dead, considering how much effort they put into it otherwise. A few more animals, and some people walking around and doing stuff, NPCs and the like, would be a wonderful addition to make the world feel a bit more alive, and give you more motivation to explore and settle more of the world.

    I give it a thumb up. Yeah, as of right now, it still has a lot of little quirks--bugs and implementation issues. But, it's fun and the features that do work are really cool. It is so worth it that I hardly mind the flaws, though I've only been playing for several days. There is some difficulty getting things placed when building and figuring out why something won't go in place. That's basic and will require a major rewrite to fix, I assume. I hope they do. But still, can't complain much and some of that is my inexperience.

    One of the best games out there, in my oppinion.
    Alot of building you can do, tons of mods (which are regularly added to the game itself), great music (which alot of devs today totally neglect).
    And I can only concur with Sir Aroun, that's not a long time.
    And I honestly wait longer for a game than have a glitchy final release.

    If you want to spend 4 hours trying to align blocks or attach a log wall to the floor then this may be the game for you. • @wingy200
      @wingy200 4 года назад

      From mothballs to full on abandonment. I'm not impressed with Keen at all. Also, this isn't the first time they've abandoned a project before it was complete. Look up Miner Wars 2081. So far that's 2/3 of their games released and unfinished. Let's see if they actually follow through with Space Engineers before they start developing a new game and abandon that too. Sandboxes are fun, but a story and some lore would be nice.

    A year later and another major 'update' and I can tell you the game will never leave early access. It has fundamental problems with the core game engine ('Legacy issues' their spokesperson, Deepflame, called them), and critical bugs that will never be addressed. The game is terminally flawed and the scumbags at KEEN just keep reskinning the game to draw new purchasers with the false claim that the game will ever be more than a pretty sack full of festering garbage.
    The game had immense potential, but KEEN is run by buffoons and cynical cash grabbers. Do not give them your money unless you like being ripped off.

      The purpose of this series is not to generate hate towards these games.. I think it's interesting to see the ups and downs during game development. I'm not sure if you actually watched the video however the last segment I talk about were the game is at now, it's actually very positive and the recent content patches have really improved the game. With that said it would be ignorant to not to address the issues during its development that I also spoke about in the video. To say I have no clue is a little strange when all the facts are open to anyone taking the time to do their research and a lot of what I spoke about is community back lash with comments attached.
      Sorry if you miss understood the purpose of this video but thanks for taking the time to comment.
