If you want to watch a (G)I-DLE introduction, you should watch this video "THE RISE of (G)I-DLE - CUBE Entertainment's SECRET Weapon" ruclips.net/video/V65zpqbl19E/видео.html It's a bit long but the production is like a documentary movie
It's songs like these that make me fall in love even harder with Soyeon as a composer and song-writer. She's literally a poet. She knows how to create an atmosphere and make you visualize the songs tbrough the instrumentals, melodies and lyrics, and the members ofc know how to capture the meaning and convey it in their unique way ❤️ Gidle's teamwork is one of their strengths
HANN (Alone) - HANN (Alone in winter) and HWAA are a Trio as you probably figured out ^^ Soyeon mentioned how Alone in Winter is somewhat of a more matured take on the breakup of HANN as she has grown a lot since she wrote the original HANN. HANN representing the more direct, somewhat childish and heated emotions, Alone in Winter being more about the emptiness/cold (Winter essentially) after seperation and with HWAA being about overcoming it. Just like you did she asked everyone to listen to these 3 songs in this order to feel the progression :D
Notice in Hwaa, how Yuqi interrupted Soyeon's rap flow? It's like Soyeon was getting carried away with her anger over what had happened in the past (she just kept speeding up) but Yuqi stopped her from going overboard. I don't like to ship real people but Soyeon has even stated that she likes Yuqi. From this, my own personal feeling is that ONLY Yuqi could have interrupted Soyeon like that (to keep her from losing her shit) without risking serious trouble afterward. These two kind of ground each other. They make quite the team. The abrupt end of Hwaa seems to surprise EVERYBODY who hears it for the first time (especially if that involves seeing the mv). I think it was meant as a cliff-hanger so we should expect more for this storyline. But then Soojin was suspended (and later kicked) and the group has not touched this storyline since. I really don't know. But I will forever feel OT6. Personally, I think they should do a continuation of the Hann/ Hwaa storyline that talks more about different kinds loss and having to move on afterward. It doesn't need to be about just romantic stuff, it could talk about family or dear friends. Even about people who were THOUGHT to be friends who turned out to be enemies... After any loss, life keeps going for everybody else, it doesn't grind to a halt over a single person passing away or leaving anybody in the lurch. No matter how much regret we have about past events we still wake up, we still breathe, we still have to drink, we still have to eat, we still have to go to work... Things keep moving even when we leave our hearts behind. Guides are AWESOME, of course! Yes, please!! :)
The iBurn and iTrust albums are their masterpieces, litterally their best eras for sure. I hope next comeback they bring back that melancolic sound again with meaning in the lyrics
the fact that your talking about "moon" in thelyrics of both hann(aiw)and hwaa, you should know that the next song in the order is titled, "moon" and I really hope you'll react to it too since soyeon writes the lyrics of the 3 you'll theorize another one when you see the lyrics of it. soyeon is such a genius
The end of HWAA affects everyone like that the first time. Like, the song is so entrancing and then it just dips out when you're finally settled in. It fits well with the rest of the album though.
This is just my personal understanding of HWAA: In my opinion, Hann and Hann (Alone in winter) lead the story to make us understand that they first wanted to cut everything with the person. Out of their emotions and the feeling that the person had changed and no longer the same as it was before. They give the message that the changement happened abruptly as if something happened. That changement leading to seeing the other as an unknown person and even as a person whom you can have recentment against. Which made them heartbroken, everything is turning black and cold as if all of that was a lie, leaving them with a bruised heart and wanting to simply erase everything that happened with that person. In Hann (Alone in Winter), which is following Hann' story, they have reflected over the event, as if they were first facing denial they are know acknowledging it. They, then, went back thinking all this time denying their inner' thoughts was just a waste of time. They are slowly going threw it but are still blocked in this "winter"/distress that the relationship left inside of them. They are finally stopping lying to themselves, because they didn't moved on from it, everything is still dark and cold, they can't move on since everytime they think they can, something in their mind make their heart shattered again. At the end they are "simply" asking is it possible for us to move, to collect ourselves to make our heart bloom once more and finally be free of this coldness/sadness. Then Hwaa is coming as the last piece of the puzzle. After opening their eyes over their blindness they just wish to escape those feelings. For that they need to set a blaze, light a fire. Finding the power and driving force to move on, the power to escape the darkness and the coldness of that long gone relationship. Leaving again after passing threw the Winter, with those scars for the rest of your life but being able to learn and earn them so it will no longer pull you down, but instead being a form of knowledge. And after being able to make you set bloom (like a flower) again, after whatever is making yourself move forward (your fire), you will finally find your peace and make your heart (the flower) at ease. At that final moment you can walk by the spring/flower path again, leaving your broken self and sadness behind. What is facinating come from the word "HWAA", it is a word that held multiple senses, and in this song Soyeon first choose to use it as "Fire", a fire that will help fealing at ease in the cold Winter waiting for Spring again. Then she choose the sense "Flower" to show that they finally reached that point where they are no longer feeling that pain as a burden, but as a part of themselves and they are moving on to bloom/evolve from it, feeling finally lively and searching to enjoy the world in a warmer state of mind. Once again it is my personal understanding of the storyline of Hann, Hann (Alone in Winter) and Hwaa. Thanks for your reaction once again, I really enjoyed it !
Hwaa ends so abruptly bc it is somehow connected to their other bside in this album wc is Moon. Although Hann- Hann (Alone in Winter) - HWAA was a trilogy songs that Soyeon made, in Moon wc she also wrote in the album prod by Minnie, it shows like how they feel AFTER breaking that painful cycle. I feel like this is the part where they're still adjusting. Or It can be also interpret as their experience before HWAA as one of their episode after being stuck in that tree or situation. Either way I think its cool that they managed to express stages of grief in their songs in a creative way. I really hope ppl will apppreciate how much input they put in their crafts. Thanks for supporting idle!
Crows are a symbol of change and transition (aka them wishing to go from Winter to Spring). Soyeon is a creative genius and it shows, as you can examine and pick-apart every single detail of her work and you will discover something new every time.
The intro always sounds like a Medieval song. The vocals and instrumentals are very reminiscent of that period of music. I like the choreo - I'm not impressed by the "hard" choreo, I prefer this type that's more focused on expression. They're great at creating a sense of urgency and anxiety with their vocals.
“I Burn” is a great album, these songs but also “Dahlia” (especially especially” & “Moon” & “Where is love.” Really just a perfect album I re-listen to a lot. It helped me get through the pandemic. I also really love their English version & the remix version of “Hwaa.” They’re just all just amaZing & distinctive singers (& performers). Great reaction! I never saw the connection between Hann (alone in winter” & Miyeon with the moon & trees in the “Hwaa” MV. 👏👏👏 Good eye & memory!
OMG OMG i love this album so so much!! It is amazing. Hann (alone in winter) is one of my favorite. I am obsessed with the whole album. Thank you so much for reacting to them. 10:58 same, same. I was like: wtf? already ended? And omg the dumb joke hahahaahaha i am dead
The reason Hwaa's end is so abruptly is because the entire album is meant to be listened to, front to back. I Burn as an album is essentially IDLE's first full-on showcase of their artistry, so I *highly* recommend you listen to the rest of the album... and if you don't adore Moon and Dahlia, something is wrong with you 😏
I really like (G)I-DLE, their music, lyrics, mv's, and ofcourse they are all cool people. Next to Blackpink and Mamamoo they are my favorites. I think the vocal line of Miyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi are one of the tops in Kpop and I wish Soyeon would highlight them together more. Enjoy your reaction and wish I had your gift of gab.
(long info and comment) As you may have known, HANN(Alone) >> HANN (Alone in Winter) >> HWAA is a trilogy song/story about a breakup, acting tough, stating that it was a lie, acceptance, and moving on. For me though this is a trilogy, the story goes on if you actually check all the song in this album "I-BURN". With that, they have 3 versions - WINTER, FLOWER, FIRE. As the lyrics suggests, HWAA can be both FIRE and FLOWER (I think it's about the pronunciation??). Soyeon said that this 2 are opposites but also complements each other. They both bloom/ignite, spread, beautify and brightens the place, symbolizes life, etc. This is why the choreo shows both graceful, flowing movements. This might be a stretch for me, but some lyrics and story came from other songs. In HANN (Alone), they stated a "hungry lion". Then in LION, they said "blue flower burning". And of course here in HWAA we saw that flower. ALSO, if you can watch "OH MY GOD" -Japanese version MV, you can see A LOT of references and hints for this song and whole album. For me, the hair connecting to the tree represents their connection to it. Trees are often symbolizes life, and it went thru many seasons. The hair connecting to if connects their feelings, emotion, and memories, just like in Avatar (blue peeps). And by doing that connection, you understand more. You mentioned moon in HWAA, and interestingly, the next song after HWAA in the album is called MOON. Some fun facts: -Shuhua was the inspiration of Soyeon when creating these trilogy. She said that Shuhua looks likes a protagonist of a story. She also stated that Shuhua is "Pure beauty" -The "ice" is actually salt. And the girls are throwing it at each other. -Shuhua looks like Mulan, Miyeon looks like Boa Hancock (One Piece), and Soyeon looks like Princess Azula at 10:35
25:30 you should definitely watch a guide on the group, and once you're done with that... might I suggest you check out Lovinsoojin's The Rise of (G)I-DLE? Its a fanmade documentary-style video on the history of the group from pre-debut to early 2021 - i.e. post-Hwaa and pre-Soojingate - and its the result of the collaboration of about 90 Neverlands as writers and translators. Its also about the same length as your average documentary... 1 hour and 24 minutes 😅
Hwaa is like "oops all symbolism". The beginning is all stuff showing coldness and sorrow: white/blue outfits, snow and ice, shrouded lanterns, stiff jerky choreography. Not to mention being literally tied to a dead tree, that tree being the old relationship. The cracked ice, to me, could be either symbolizing that they the ice is almost gone and they are close to getting free or that the ice is close to giving out and plunging them even further down into freezing cold water. The broken glass that Shuhua is behind, along with the various shots of the members revealing their face from behind hands, fans, etc had two meanings for me. Both symbolizing a moment of epiphany or realization. Often windows are used to represent detachment and avoidance from reality. Breaking the window removes the barrier between yourself and the truth. Also shattering glass is sometimes used in film language to represent a moment of realization. Like a fake glass reality has just shattered and the truth is all thats left. After this, they are mostly seen in floral dresses. Flowers are a clear sign of rebirth, growth, and spring. The sign that winter is over. There are TONS of symbols of death and rebirth. The veils, the crows + the nest, fire, the moon, etc. A moment that I thought was particularly interesting was Soyeon's rap about that past resentment is cut off by Yuqi talking about lighting the fire that will birth a flower. It stumped me for a while, but I, now, think it means that the subject is finally getting over that resentment. Cutting off her own thoughts about it and just concentrating on the future. In the final chorus, they are wearing red, the winter set is gone, and their choreo is completely different. It's flowy and smooth. The cold is over and they can finally move on. I also think that the abrupt ending is actually showing that this ISN'T an ending. It's a new beginning. It doesn't need a conclusion because that would provide finality on something that isn't over. Hwaa is up there with Lion and Oh My God as an MV that I could write a whole essay about just the visual storytelling. I like the song too, of course, but I was really impressed with the MV.
hwaa is written in lots of old korean words so the english translation can be a bit weird. to me, hann(alone) is when u first broke up, there was anger like a dry dessert, you tell them and yourself u dont need them, you will forget them, but then its hann(alone in winter), when all the anger and passion goes away, you realize it really hurt u and u miss them. u feel like you are trapped in the freezing winter, lonely and helpless. then its hwaa, when u really get over this relationship and find yourself, u decide that even if its winter, u are gonna bloom like a flower, let all of you out like a fire burning with no regrets, and bring about the spring in the desolate winter. i think thats also why the song ended such suddenly at such a attention grabbing part, because the flower burns out at the most beautiful moment to give its most beautiful moment, all its magnificence, all its glory, all its power and beauty with no regrets, even tho it means its a short lived flame
Hwaa was the last song before Soojin left and Gidle went on their 1 and a half year break. Something I think about that obviously wasnt on purpose is how Soojin has the last line of her last song and how the song. Its also really ironic how the song ends so abruptly too kind of like how abrupt her career ended. The bullying accusations actually started during the promotions of this comeback and as soon as they were finished promoting soojin went on hiatus. I think its a really beautiful song for it to be her last and I genuinely miss her so much as someone who watched their content I loved how close gidle as a 6 member group bond was. Soojin was like the mom of the group and she was the person that soyeon as the leader went to when she was having trouble. Soojin was Shuhuas first friend in the company when she came to Korea despite the language barriers and Soojin was also the quietest member. So many fans really believed in her when the accusations came out but the public tore her apart, false accusations were thrown and cube did not handly the situation properly causing gidle and soojin more hate then they needed. After 7 months cube was of no help to soojin and so she made the decision to leave the group with cube making the statement that she wished not to hurt the group more then she already has. I dont remember the specifics of her case actually because I have Garam from le serrafims case still in my head along with aoa's jimin and mina but I do remember that in the end soojin did nothing wrong from what I remember she and a friend in *middle school* had a verbal fight but she was not a bully and was proven innocent of bullying but no one payed attention when her innocence came out but they all jumped on the accusations so quick the difference of attention her innocence got was so sad. It disgusts me the way the kpop industry treats bullying scandals. They are harsh for a reason as in korea the bullying is not the same bullying we all know over here its genuinely violence and abuse which is why they take it so seriously when someone is accused of it. What I hate tho is how misogynistic it all is for the fans. Bullying accusations came out about so many idols in the past like three years a lot of them fake but some of them might be real. What makes me mad is the fact that popular male idols who have been accused of bullying have not been treated nearly as harsh as soojin and garam and both those girls literally did nothing wrong. The fact that those girls had to leave groups while some of these male idols just went on hiatus for like a month and then everything was all fine and forgiven makes me mad. Garam stood up for a friend whos pictures were leaked yet the entire industry turned on her before she could even start her career. At least with soojin her fanbase stood by her but Le serrafims fanbase hated her from the start because she was ruining their debut era and Garam was only 16. The hate she got was horrible especially after both Soojin and Mina/Jimins case you'd think kpop fans would know not to pick sides but no. I didnt choose sides but I remember reading the comments with everyone just waiting for her to be removed from the group it was honestly horrible the things people said about her. When Source music finally did kick her out everyone literally celebrated. For like a week. Literally a week later Garam was basically shown as someone who was standing up to a bully rather then a bully herself and just like that people switched up. Garam was only in the group for like 2 weeks but the fact her dream was taken away from her so quickly and so violently is just horrible. This whole thing really upsets me sorry for the long rant just watching old gidle things just sometimes really gets me thinking about this. Many fans really hope soojin will comeback some day either as a soloist or as part of the group if gidle was to leave cube together and join a new company together but theres fans who really know that that is really unlikely. The korean public doesnt like soojin, her case was so big and in their eyes I believe she is still guilty. Theres basically no way soojin will ever come back to gidle or to the entertainment industry in general. We will probably never see her again and thats a really hard thing to come to terms with. Of course theres always a chance but lets be honest it would be a mircale if that happened and in kpop miracles are not common.
I recommend watching the stage performances for Hwaa. It really brings more to the song and the abrupt ending seems to make more sense in the stage performance.💜
I'm going to just share some of my mental swirls here... lol Break-up of HANN (Han meaning 'one')... HWAA was the last promotion that Soojin was a part of... The company was already not standing up for her against the allegations and by the time of release it was feared (almost knowingly) that Soojin would be leaving the group. Which the company officially announced in August, leaving her Alone in Winter... An abrupt end for her in the group. My mental swirls maybe doing some gymnastics here & reaching with this, but if Soyeon had any knowledge of things that public hadn't come to know yet... & knowing how awful Cube is... She may have intentionally created this for Soojin. Idk.
Hwaa is one of my favorite I-dle's songs exactaly because it has a more artistic and deep feeling in it...? I don't know how explain, but they deliver so much emotion in the performances. Also, it doesn't need to be just about a break up, but every issue and relationship in life that you need to move foward. I always think about the journey of overcome my depressive episodes when I think about this song. Your perspective is very accurent but I disagree about the end. In my interpretation they did move on and the reasons I think like that are mostly because: 1-It's a trilogy, it's the last part, so I don't think they would leave it without a conclusion; 2- in the chorus they sing ''Hwaa'' meaning Fire (it can mean fire or flower) wanting to start a fire to bring spring back, but in the end they sing it meaning Flower, because they alredy overcame winter and now the flower bloomed; 3- the flower in Shuhua's mouth reverting to life, like if fire was not there to destroy it but actually bring it back, so the verse about ''burning myself'' was in the sense of reborn and not beeing destroyed (soyeon in that nest of birds also makes me think about a fenix coming from the ashes) 4- You said Shuhua's hair was still tangled in the tree but actually if you pay attation it was not haha, it was cut. So the thought of them beeing still in winter never crossed my mind.
congrats on spreading misinformation, did she get a lot? no but considering she sang for like 8 seconds in one go ontop of the small amount you counted. its great that you are making the group seem bad, one of the reasons chinese fans boycotted the album... "neverlands" not knowing what shuhua sounds like and using rushed and inaccurate line distribution videos really speaks to the quality of fan these days.
@@MiyusRibbons dont make the adlibs do a thing bcs clearly's not. She only got 3 secs of pure lines. Soyeon needs to wake and give her more lines. Literally in Tomboy she got more lines bcs of those damn lalala parts 🤧 she deserves better. The problem with being not beig fluent in korean was 4 years ago, move on and Soyeon needs to treat her better
Errr.. Idk if you remember this song supposed release after hann but got rejected by cube.. That's why shuhua got less lines than she supposed to be.. Lmao.. And sad some of shuhua fans didn't even recognize her voice and you can see at any gidle lyrics video.. 😂😂
They did it again, I aboslutely love them.

Some fun facts:
-Shuhua was the inspiration of Soyeon when creating these trilogy. She said that Shuhua looks likes a protagonist of a story. She also stated that Shuhua is "Pure beauty"
-The "ice" is actually salt. And the girls are throwing it at each other.
-Shuhua looks like Mulan, Miyeon looks like Boa Hancock (One Piece), and Soyeon looks like Princess Azula at 10:35
Your analysis was so good! Very in-depth and detailed, taking the time Idle deserves

Thank you for the reaction ❤️
Good to see when ppl really tried to understand the song and mv not just enjoying the melody and visual
Han(alone in winter) is so different from all kpop song i think
hwaa is written in lots of old korean words so the english translation can be a bit weird.
to me, hann(alone) is when u first broke up, there was anger like a dry dessert, you tell them and yourself u dont need them, you will forget them, but then its hann(alone in winter), when all the anger and passion goes away, you realize it really hurt u and u miss them. u feel like you are trapped in the freezing winter, lonely and helpless. then its hwaa, when u really get over this relationship and find yourself, u decide that even if its winter, u are gonna bloom like a flower, let all of you out like a fire burning with no regrets, and bring about the spring in the desolate winter. i think thats also why the song ended such suddenly at such a attention grabbing part, because the flower burns out at the most beautiful moment to give its most beautiful moment, all its magnificence, all its glory, all its power and beauty with no regrets, even tho it means its a short lived flame
hann alone in the winter is a masterpiece, it sounds so nice and the lyrics are beautiful💖💖 as expected from soyeon
I think of it like a Phoenix. Rebirth into a them without the pain.
Gidle🔥🔥🔥
I'm going to just share some of my mental swirls here... lol
Break-up of HANN (Han meaning 'one')...
Idk.
Exactly my reaction after this song ended. Lol. Like what??? How did it end like that. 😳 looking good btw sir. ❤️

Gid damn I miss Soojin :((
Hwaa is one of my favorite I-dle's songs exactaly because it has a more artistic and deep feeling in it...?
I love your videos

Hwaa is maybe one of the worst line distribution in kpop (Shuhua with only 2.5 secs) but the song is fire
congrats on spreading misinformation, did she get a lot? no but considering she sang for like 8 seconds in one go ontop of the small amount you counted. its great that you are making the group seem bad, one of the reasons chinese fans boycotted the album...
Agree, its their best song btw
@@leofeblanez my fav ones are senorita and Lion
Errr.. Idk if you remember this song supposed release after hann but got rejected by cube.. That's why shuhua got less lines than she supposed to be.. Lmao.. And sad some of shuhua fans didn't even recognize her voice and you can see at any gidle lyrics video.. 😂😂
