  • Today we make the most horsepower on the dyno! We dyno the billet head engine and install it on Lonnie's mini bike. This thing rips and feels like it never stops pulling!!! Stay tuned for the next video where we dyno it again to get maximum power!

First thing I'd be checking is the pushrods 1) do the the pushrods clear the bores through the entire lift range. 2) flexing pushrods create a valve bounce situation.
Higher lobe lift is only part of the story. Higher ratio rockers bring the bring the pushrod pivot closer to rocker centreline. This has two affects 1) the pushrod moves closer to it's bore (higher lift also means it runs through a larger arc) 2) there is more load on the pushrod side of the valve train because of the change in leverage

My friend, I’ve never seen any of your videos before but because I am so impressed that the Lord allowed me to notice the subtle evidences of your faith, prior to the dyno test, I am writing this to encourage you. It appeared to me that the Lord is going before you. I thought, this guy is bright, he has a pleasant countenance, his shop is clean and you know there is something about him, he just may be a believer. And then, of course, the
verses and concluding blessing gave affirmation to my first impression. I will be following your videos, when I can, and praying that the Lord may bless you and use your work to draw many to Jesus. For the last 52 years I have tried to do my own auto maintenance/repair, first because I had to, but now, I just like doing it. I will be watching for your videos.

New subscriber here and I really like all the new things you can do to these engines now. When I was a kid back in the early 60's my friend and I had a go kart frame but no engine and one of his dad's friends gave us two old McCullough Chainsaw engines meant for the old 50's style saws they were fairly big and pretty stout. Once we got them working in sync we had a death machine you would have been proud of. It went way faster than you should ever go on a go kart from the 60's. I am happy to report both of us lived and it started me on a life long love of working on engines. Keep up the good work! Oh and for a brake we had a piece of flat stock bent where we could lever it against the back wheel, did many unintentional spin outs because of it.

The 236 I built and ran in the drag bike has the Moflow 14cc head out of the box with 1.2 rockers and a .356 cam. I did use 1/4" pushrods but it shouldn't make much difference being they are that short. It turns 10,000 all day long with a Honda coil and the 6689 flywheel, I estimated 24hp with nothing trick or custom about the build. Maye be try boosting the coil gap, mine was set at .045 and on Gas, you should be running a 115-120 main jet, needle one clip up from the middle

With that cam and rocker ratio you need at least 50lb springs or more to control the aggressiveness of the 2. .356 cam is a aggressive profile and 1.3 will make the 36lb springs float at high rpm. Upgrading to 50lb springs and larger push rods will cure this problem.

I had the same problem with 1.3/356 combo on big block. Springs and all were correct but wouldn’t turn over 7k no matter what coil or anything. After braking 2 rocker adjusters I Ended up going down on camshaft and now it goes to 8500 no problem. It seems that the 1.3/356 combo needs more valve spring than it calls for because the ramp is so aggressive.

@@RedBeardsGarage I had a Ford 302 that I built several years ago that I put a good set of stock diameter crome molly pushrods it with a very high lift cam, it would not rev past about 6000 RPM . A friend talked Me into ordering a set of 3/8 crome molly pushrods for it and they fixed the problem, after the new pushrods I was able to shift at 9200 RPM!
