  • Worst Locksmith Key Machine SEC-E9 Key Cutting Machine | Mr. Locksmith Video
For further info go to mrlocksmithtrai...
Without a doubt purchasing the SEC E9 "Made in China" Key cutting machine has been one of my worst locksmith investments I have made.
I wanted a new Key Machine to replace my 7 year old Miricle A5 that has seen extensive use and has worked flawlessly. I was about to purchase the Miricle A9s but decided that for the price of one Miricle A9s I could buy two SEC-E9 Key Cutting Machines. I bought one SEC-E9 and quickly regretted the purchase. The SEC-E9 malfunctioned after 10 keys.
The SEC-E9 Windows 8 Tablet PC has failed 4 times. Parts have to be shipped from China and no repair facility exists in the USA or Canada so I had to replace the tablet myself. The Motherboard has failed twice now and again I have to totally disassemble the SEC-E9 code machine each time to replace the motherboard.
I purchased most of the accessories to cut by code most automobile keys including Tibbe Keys, Tubular Keys, dimple keys and single-sided house keys, motorcycle keys, etc.
Also, I purchased the Engraving Jig but after delivery, I was informed the Engraving function was not supported by the SEC-E9 software. No mention of refunding my purchase of the useless Engraving part.
Response from the salespeople in China has been sporadic and the excuses have ranged from no Internet, No Facebook (blocked by the Chinese Government) and no email, again Blocked by the Chinese Government.
I decided to stop wasting my time with the SEC-E9 Key Machines and I now have a new Miracle A9s. The A9s has cut by code more car keys the first week I had it than the SEC-E9 has cut or duplicated in two years!
I have heard from many locksmiths how terrible and unreliable the SEC-E9 Key cutting machine has been. My SEC-E9 is unusable and now packed away in the box. Total silence from the SEC-E9 manufacturer.
Bottom LIne: In my opinion, the SEC-E9 Made in China Key Cutting machine is "garbage" and a total piece of "junk" and is now the Worst Locksmith Key Machine sold today.

There is a gamble with these that explains the cheaper price. I've seen some last for years with no servicing, and I've seen others that were faulty from the box. It's best to save yourself the headache and get something better from the start.

I use this machine to make 200 to 250 automotive keys per month. A majority of the keys are decoded by Lishi. That often means that you are cutting test blanks prior to cutting the key onto a transponder blank. So lets just average out to 300 keys per month. That would mean I’ve cut 5,400 keys in the 18 months i’ve been using this machine. I have not had any problems with the machine cutting inaccurately and the machine and tablet have never given me a problem.
I may add that this machine is mounted in a mobile unit and not just sitting on a counter in a shop.
I think the industry has counted on the cost of entry into the profession to be the individual Locksmith’s protection from competition. So it makes sense to poorly review budget friendly equipment. That’s not fair to this product.
That being said, this machine is not perfect by any means. It has some quirks. But if you are an experienced locksmith, they are not problems you can’t work around. Most of those issues come from the database within the machine in reference to which keys apply to a given Make and Model. But if you know what key blank a vehicle requires (or you look it up in your Ilco book) it is not an issue to select the correct key and/or code series.
It also has had some issues with building cutting trees. For some reason the B102 keyway GM products (code series S001A) will cut a key to code using that code series. But if you are trying to build a cutting tree for that keyway, it will not search against that code series.
Those are some examples of the quirks you have to work with. But if you are a locksmith, it should not be anything you cant figure out.
I really hope that you just had a horrible chain of bad and rare events that created your experience with this machine. I like to watch locksmith trade related videos that share knowledge and keep me up to date on what new products and tools are being released. But i hope that the information provided is unbiased and a true review of the product or topic being discussed.
You stated you know others using this machine and they have had the same experience that you had. I have others i know using this machine as well. None of them have had the problems you have shown in this video.
I hope i have shed a different light on this to people that see this video. It’s healthy as locksmiths to support each other and offer accurate information so we can grow and improve our skills and equipment.

Some locksmiths love their SEC-E9 but many hate it. The major problem is the lack of parts, poor communication with the supplier or factory, the lists goes on and on. My MIricle A5 and A9s, Borkey, anything Framon makes are fantastic key machines and endless support from the Manufactures.

We’ve had an SEC-9 for 2 years. Only had one issue arise that I fixed on the job.
My only complaint is it won’t cut decode some Ford emergency keys with the funny bend/ curve near the shoulder...but my buddies brand new Miracle A9 won’t decode or cut them either! Lol.
I’ve updated the software once successfully too. My buddy can’t update his A9.
I think I won with this machine. I’ve cut hundreds of keys on my SEC-9.
I think you got a lemon.

have you tried to use on the next tip stop location number 2 instead of three. Should give you enough space that you can cut and decode Ford Emergency keys..

    • @Lanelockandkey
      @Lanelockandkey 5 лет назад

      Yes. I have tried that.
The issue is the curve near the bow cannot be held in the jaw correctly for cutting.
The issue for decoding is, I believe, that the tracer thinks the cut spacing is different than it actually is. It will attempt to decode and the tracer will hit the end of the milling on the key that is supposed to be the first cut and throw an error as if it has hit an obstruction. Must be a software thing. I’ve reported it to them.

Its pretty obvious by the way you asked them to send you a machine in your video that youve never asked them prior to your video. you say everyone you know that has one says theyre junk.... Dont bash a company when you never just asked for a replacement unit.... I own 3 of these. one in my shop and onenin each of my service truck. I hafent had a single issue with one of them and their customer service is on point. You repair machines and have done it for 30 years and feel this machine is hard to disassemble? This thing is 6th grade level stuff. my ten year old takes a part the machine in the shop once a week due to the amount of keys we cut on a daily basis and we like to keep up with the upkeep of the machine. you said everyone you know that has this machine says its junk.... Im assuming youve only got a friend or two because if you scroll down theres 50 good reviews for each bad review. Im trying not to go too hard on you here but your video was clearly made out of anger. It drives me nuts when people leave reviews before trying every option to resolve it simply because shit happens. Amazon customers are the worst when it comes to this. ive seen so many bad reviews for products when the the issue is 1000% without a doubt user error. Please dont be that guy Mr. smith. Please take this as constructively and try not to get all buthurt. Have a good day Mr. Smith!

It is a very good machine for smaller money. If comparing to Silca and keyline. Maybe you should use mecanical machines? Do not try to repair them if you do not what you are doing! Jakob from Sweden

For everybody who says the SEC E9 works great I have 10-20 times people telling me the Key Machine is broken again. A few people like yourself have no problems. We are a busy locksmith company and we get our key machines repaired by the factory or we fix them. No problems fixing all our ITLs and Miracles and regular duplicators. However, ITL Factory repair is next to useless now and hearing the same with Factory repair of HPC Blizz code machines.

I'm a real Locksmith and 5 years on we have cut thousands of keys on this machine WE LOVE IT never let us down once , cuts perfect every time , our viper sat in corner never used , Miracle is much better quality than SEC but for banging about on the van daily use it's incredible. www.foxlocks.co.uk

      NO to hate & violence
In our region “Middle East” we don’t have B119 or B120 we have only B100 for the vehicles 2000-2005 and B111 2006-2012 and HU101 for 2013 -
It’s not 100% accurate for the years but I’m100% sure for the blanks nothing else than this blanks and miracle A5 did all

@@24hrMrLocksmith crazy thing is that when I talked to the support team about it, they told me that they had no idea how to fix that. You know it's a problem when the people that made the damn thing don't know how to fix it.

Almost forgot to mention had a 2012 Fiat 500 key it would not cut right tried the two i had would not do. Keys i purchased where too wide about .030 too wide. Also had the problem with a Honda Civic key customer brought to cut was a flip key it too was too wide after filing both side equally they did work, But was not the fault of machine but of the key i was trying to cut.

Also try going to down from 2.0 to 1.8 mm I learned this from a rep overseas after a WhatsApp conference and it cuts butter 🧈 Honda keys. Make sure you calibrate before hu100s though btw 1.8 is for Honda only.

My machine worked excellently then it stopped. My wife got in contact with someone overseas and they sent a new motherboard at no cost after we did a video conference on WhatsApp. I haven’t had one problem since then. Yes calibration is a must but I’m super confident with it. Excellent machine for the cost and if your starting out this machine won’t disappoint. It made me over $100,000 and purchased my laser 994 and about to buy my Ninja laser. I’ll never sell it!!!!!!!!!
