    those are garlic corms with an M. let them dry and next year, soak them a few hours in a weak fish fertilizer and plant. Year 1, they form a hand ball clove..big single ball. Pull them and plant the following year. 2nd year, you get a new garlic elephant bulb with cloves. I planted mine in space I didn't need just to see how it worked and my 2nd year I had a TON of elephant garlic for free.

    Hey Barbara! Ive never planted garlic, but i ordered from Keene Garlic, simply because Homestear Heart mentioned them in one of her videos. I was stalking Keene Garlic because when i first looked everything was sold out! I was probably their first customer on that day. Anyway, im super excited. I got their first time grower package!

    Hi Barbara! Oh my! Those garlic are HUGE! Can you please remind me where you order them from? I planted garlic, but nothing developed. I think there were too many rocks where they we're planted. I gave the stalks that I pulled up to my mother. They smelled so good! I will try again and find a different place to plant them. Take care! 😊

    This year is technically my second year, but last year I planted it in the spring, so the bulbs I got were super small. This year a few of the plants are looking pretty big, I’ll keep those for replanting this fall. The rest are quite small. Which I expected because I got them at the farmers market and the lady told me that they wouldn’t be very big since the bulbs weren’t large. This fall I plan on ordering seed garlic from somewhere that is reputable. Last year I ordered some from Amazon and it came rotten already 😢 such a waste

    Hi Barbara. Your garlic looks great! Thanks for sharing. I have a couple of questions. First, what soil do you use in your beds? I see bags on the ground and your soil looks so loose. Is it from those bags? Would you mind sharing what you’re using.
    Also, when do you start your fall Brussel sprouts, I don’t think I’m too far from you, I’m in Sequatchie county outside Chattanooga. I’ve relatively new to this area never grown them here so I’m wondering what would be a good time to start. Thanks!!
    Sorry you hurt your back. I hope it’s better.

    • @AGardenersJourneyHomestead
      @AGardenersJourneyHomestead  2 месяца назад

      Thank you. I primarily use Bacto soil in my beds. What you see on the ground was some amendments and also an organic soil I was trying from Walmart. But in the beds is Bacto Potting Soil. For brussel sprouts, I typically start my seeds in August because they have a long maturity date but usually have to cover them when I first put out because of the insects. Hppe that helps!

    • @Mel-vu9ss
      @Mel-vu9ss 2 месяца назад

      @@AGardenersJourneyHomestead Hi Yes this helps! I’ve never heard of Bacto until today I saw it while my husband and I were out. Funny it’s what you use. I will definitely look into it.
