  • Low level and easy cycle ride along the Keswick to Threlkeld disused railway path in the English Lake District with an optional additional bridleway ride up to Mallen Dodd, more suited to hardtail e-bikes, for panoramic views down across Keswick and Derwent Water.
A fabulous, short ride for those who are young at heart but who don't fancy the more technical, high level routes; the routes that are readily available in books, magazines, youtube etc.
This route is 9.4 miles long and roughly 65% is off-road with the remainder on quiet country lanes.
A basic map showing the route is available at the end of the video.
The video pays particular attention to the terrain to ensure potential riders can judge if the route is suitable for their level of riding ability. I've put together this ride and several others (work in progress) as I've found a distinct lack of detailed information on rideable off road routes for those of us with mountain e-bikes (hardtail or full suspension) who want to enjoy an easier ride. I've spent considerable time walking bridleways to assess rideability as many are just not suitable for our needs or just overgrown!
The number of senior e-bike riders appears to be rapidly increasing and I'm hoping these routes will be useful to those visiting Cumbria and the Lake District and maybe even the local residents, like ourselves.

Great video, I enjoyed viewing it. I visit and cycle around the Lake District every year, usually lake consiston and lake Windermere areas, but you have given me an idea for a new route here, thanks and good luck to you both😊

Thank you. Just uploaded a great route from Torver up onto Woodland Fell & Subberthwaite Common which you might like, if you've not already ridden it!

Love watching your bike rides and i think you really under sell yourselves by saying you only do the easy routes as some of the ones in the hills look quite tough. As we get older we always find ourselves returning to the halcyon days of youth as they were the best days of our lives and so carefree, that is what i really love about cycling, it take me back to when i was 15 again. Must be heaven on earth to have all this wonderful scenery on your doorstep. I am from Wigan and a lad i went to school with owns a cafe in Windermere called Brew Room.

So pleased you are enjoying the videos as we are having so much fun riding the routes. I think level of the ride is all about perception and as we are novice emtb riders and doing these routes I feel they must be in the ‘easier’ category because we can do them (or walking if too tricky!) I suppose that is why I’m recording these routes so viewers can see the terrain and decide for themselves if it’s within their ability. 👍
