Honestly whoever came up with this sketch is a genius.
The direction and execution: definitely, with you 100%. The base idea (story credit) of doing a Xmas/Santa sketch lampooning Stan... I know the thought has occurred to many. Any kind of media with an emphasis on letter-writing, especially nowadays, will always pop into minds around the Xmas season.

A Christmas 🎄 themed take on Stan had been done 20 years ago which is actually the same year and season as Eminem's original so it was on point at the time of release. You can like Pete's version but just realise Chris Moyles explored this concept 💡 2 decades ago 😳

SNL’s production designers are so good. They nailed the exact look of the Stan music video. Pete’s performance was great, too.
Almost look forward to the pre taped bits over the live stuff. Seems like they spend more time on it getting it right.

Where is all this “hate” for Pete in terms of his role on SNL? I’ve never heard any haters talking about him negatively in terms of the show, just dissing him as a person (which is worse). He’s well liked by cast mates and execs and he’s funny as hell, bringing a much needed younger perspective to the cast. I wouldn’t assume online haters who just don’t like him personally are equally criticizing him on the show. But again, I don’t see any of this hate so I’m right back to where I began this comment. If he hadn’t been engaged to Ariana Grande most people wouldn’t know him unless they were SNL fans. You’d be going way out of your way to hate someone under those circumstances. And anyone doing that clearly needs to get a life, a hobby or just plain get a grip.
