    This panel can put out close to 100 watts ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

    Our average bill is 250 a month with summer months being around 300-500 per month. Only a 1600sqft home and we keep the temp in the house around 80 degrees because it’s nearly 100 every day during the summer. Bakersfield heat is awful. Been looking at Solar but not sure how cost effective it would be for us as just the loan alone costs about the same as our avg bill and it’s only 40% kWh coverage. For what we need would cost roughly 100 bucks more a month than what we are already paying just seems silly.

    I'm building a detached 2 car garage and thinking of putting solar shingles instead of regular roof tiles, which will save me little in that area of the build. The garage is almost 1k sq ft so I think the total for the roof would be a little bigger because it is pitched. My house, like yours, has Spanish tiles and I didn't want to cut into the aesthetic. So I'm thinking of putting solar to cover the entire garage roof to run both it and the house. Do you think this is feasible and do you have any info on their solar shingles, or from any other company? Thanks.

    What’s up Chris, is having a powerwall worth the money? I am currently live in a electric grid that electricity is always needed due to fire station, hospital and other emergency services. Thinking of getting Tesla solar for my one month old model 3. Also which is better, leasing or financing ?

    • @belavet
      @belavet 2 года назад

      @@michaelcrz1430 if you never have power outages, the only
      Way the power wall would make sense, imo, would be if your utility or state/local government offered an incentive. Here in MA, national grid pays out around $1000 a year to use your backup power during peak demand, the idea being they lessen their own power generation output and therefor run their plants more efficiently. That's obviously very situational.
      Another scenario might be if you pay more per kWh during peak times. You can either choose to change your usage habits during those hours, or you can choose to use the power wall's stored energy at that time (if solar isn't currently producing enough to meet your needs). I've even seen some videos of people that fall into that boat actually charging their power walls from the grid during off peak times and then using that stored power during peak loads.
      Really depends on how you are billed for your power. If you have net metering and no further kickbacks from the state or your energy services provider, I see no real benefit to a power wall in your case.

    If you live in a winter state that does not get a ton of sunshine these panels will not be worth it. Also if government want to turn the solar panels off they can.

    • @zacharylewis417
      @zacharylewis417 3 года назад +1

      You would be surprised on how much power panels produce in the winter. The only downtime I didn't have any power was during winter storms which is why you have a battery bank (if you are off grid). Solar panels can still produce power even with some snow covered on them! Usually for us folks in the winter states we just tack on more panels to offset with winter days.

    Im in monterey california and started my online application last Sept 2 where I also uploaded all the photos they needed and my electric bill last August. Then by Sept 7 I signed the HOA letter they sent me, it was this late coz I still need to verify this with my HOA before I sign and the HOA replied late too :( , then Sept 9, they sent me a Solar packet which I also signed the same day, I was just wondering why until today I have not received their proposed design layout for my system ? or is it just normal that it takes them weeks to design it ? also, I sent a message to the person in charge thru my Tesla account to follow up but no response yet, is this really this hard for Tesla when it comes to communication ? though it shows in my tesla account 6-11 weeks for installation I just hope this gets done by December so I can still include this on my tax filing for this year.

    I just signed up for tesla solar in maryland. Second after I paid the 100 dollars and before I even put in information they requested they already had a site survey scheduled for next business day ( did it on friday someone is coming out monday, my design done showing layout on my roof, and so I could submit to hoa and go through lending. The site then walked me through what pictures to take of my meter, electrical box, roof and my hvac system. They also wanted an copy of electric bill. The site said install should be within 11 weeks. I asked for a 17kw system with 2 power walls, says it should be enough for 6 days of backup and cover 98 percent of my energy usage. So my electric bill should go down to nothing with just a loan payment to tesla of 444 dollars a month for 10 years. So saving 200 a month, I should break even on this system in 11 years. after that its paying me money.

      I am 4 months in myself going for an 8.5kWh system and 2 powerwalls. I haven't even spoken to an advisor. Fortunately I got the extension of a guy that was amazingly helpful and the times I spoke with him were great. There are lots of issues, but as Chris stated, the cost is significantly less.
      Other pricing from 4 solar companies were 26-30k on the panels alone. Tesla was 16k. With the powerwalls my total is 34k. After state and federal rebates, it will be 22k. Then with a state program, we will get back another 7k over 5 years, so it will bring me down to 15k for an 8.5kWh system with 2 powerwalls. It is a no brainer.
      My only complaint is lack of communication and time that it takes for this process.

Untill the latest update last week I was NOT ALLOWED to turn on system. I orderd a Model 3 when roof install was complete. I took delivery of the M3 two weeks ago and I am stil waiting for my PTO, Communication from Tesla is NON-EXISTANT unless you pester your adviser and contact the PRE PTO team thru support which is a PIA and gets u NO WHERE.

    I have tesla solar panels and they leak. Whenever we get a heavy down pour i get water coming out of my ceiling fan. The installers didn't install the mounting brackets properly and of course tesla won't pay to fix it. So now I'm on the hook for 3500 dollars because all the mounts need to be replaced. It's just a matter of time before the rest of the mounts start leaking. If your considering solar panels stay away from tesla,my experience has been nightmare and now I gotta worry about mold.

    This is an awesome video. Super helpful! Want to share my experience with Tesla (haven't decided to move forward with Tesla yet). My understanding is that 1. Tesla's price is the best, way cheaper than other solar companies. 2. Tesla's warranty is usually short than other companies, most other companies provide a 25-year warranty for the whole system. This point is really disappointing, not sure why Tesla doesn't match the "standard" of the other companies. 3. Financing option is bad. It only offers a 10% down pay 10-year 3%+ loan. Other companies can provide a 25-year 0.49% loan, which lowers the monthly payment by a lot. 3. Tesla's system is not able to monitor the production of each individual panel. 4. Tesla does not cover Main Panel Upgrade, which is usually covered by other companies. So you have to upgrade at your own cost (can't use the 26% federal credit if you upgrade the panel by yourself).

    I am filing a complaint with the NYS Attorny General office tomorrow. I am told this is the ONLY way Tesla will move your PTO up the list. Your advisor is just there to obsorb your anger at lack of communication. I only found out about operating in "Off Grid Mode" (OGM) thru a Tesla forum thread. My advisor didnt advise me of this, DOH........ So in OGM I can do every thing but sell excess power generated back to utility. I can at least cahrge my batterires, charge my car and power home with out need for utility power. I generated 30+ kwh today and have charged Powerwall+s to 75% and also charged the M3. :) I would say if you have enormous patience and roof isnt to complicated that investment in Tesla SGR w PW+ is worth the cost as it should pay back. Other wise it isnt ready for the general public but the pay back should b worth it for those with the fortitude. The install teams were fantastic BTW. NO issuses with the roofers or electricians.
