I purchased the LiV when the $250 discount was offered on your yourtube video. I think that was 2+ years ago. I do your exercise routines 2.5 yrs also. And have used the LiV daily until about 5 months ago. I injured my back (sleeping in ill fitting recliner), but now am experiencing difficulty getting it completely pain free. I realized I don't think I heard the researcher who developed it address the following question in your interviews, which I am now asking myself: Should I be using the LiV when I am experiencing back pain? Even if it could be due to compression issues beginning in my back ? I don't believe I've ever heard this question addressed in the videos........
I and my husband find that after prolonged use of the marodyne (over a daily use of one year) we both have stiffness and pain in our calves. Do you have any idea why this may be happening and are we using it too often, need to change position OR? Thanks

Hello! I am a PT, 59 years old and diagnosed with severe osteoporosis most likely due to a chemo drug and the steroids given during chemo. I am still on immunotherapy but am in remission. Is there any contraindications for cancer patients similar to contraindications for use of US and E-stim for cancer patients?
Thank you so much Margaret! This has been life-saving information. I got my Marodyne nine days ago and use it 3 times daily. Looking forwarding to my next dexa scan to see if my severe osteoporosis improves.
One more question please. My osteoporosis is in my spine. I watched all your interviews with Dr Rubin. I also read anything I can find on this device. I’m I correct in thinking that the vibration goes up through the spine? Therefore, hopefully it should strengthen my spine… Thank you
@@susanwilson5820 Yes, it does. The signal goes through your body all the way to your head. You will experience a quiet chattering of your teeth. This indicates that the signal is going through your hips and your spine. A couple of important items. 1./ Do not bend your knees. This will weaken the signal. 2./ The reason why the $200 - $2000 whole body vibration platforms tell you to bend your knees is to weaken the signal. The signal on these platforms is so strong that there have been cases of retinal detachment. These are described in detail in my post: melioguide.com/osteoporosis-exercise-equipment/whole-body-vibration-therapy/ 3./ Readers who want a price discount can visit this page and leave their contact information: my-marodyne-liv.btt-health.com/ Good luck.
Hi Margaret, been watching your Chanel for a year or so. Couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. Came across your this video. Thank you for making this video. Went to their website through your link and sent my info. to them. Unfortunately, I don't see any reviews made by people in USA. The few they have are mostly from UK. Is there not anyone from USA or the other parts of the world, even in Canada who have used this machine for bone health? Since this video was made a year ago, any new information on this machine or topic? As a PT, have any of your clients used it? Thanks.
A very detailed presentation of this very good vibration platform. Above all with practical tips for everyday life and how it works in operation. And this device is made in germany.
Margaret, I’m very interested in the Marodyne and all the osteoporosis benefits you demonstrated. The cost is holding me way back. Pretty bummed. But I called the company and they occasionally offer refurbished machines fully tested and warrantied. On the list! $3k vs $1500
Hi Vicky. My understanding is that there is a lot of engineering design built into the device to make it easy for people to use. The device has to be safe, to since many people have to use it. The low cost vibration platforms are actually dangerous to use.
Hi Margaret, thank you for all you do for those with osteoporosis. I have been corresponding with Marodyne and have the opportunity to purchase one. My purchase is largely based on this review and my respect for your opinion. This video review was made 2 years ago. Do you still feel strongly that the Marodyne LIV is beneficial? I lift weights, play pickleball and walk a lot. This could fill in some gaps for me. It would not replace anything. There was a study done by Dr Belinda Beck and she discusses her findings in a RUclips from 2 months ago and clearly states it doesn’t work. I would like to hear if your position has changed since posting this. Thank you.
I heard of possible issues with optic nerve being affected by this- any info or thoughts? 🙏 also could it affect tinnitus- wow every little thing vibrating 🤨
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear so. Marodyne and Juvent are the only ones available. Personally, I'd go with the Marodyne. I checked out Juvent's "comparison chart" that was apparently created as a hit job on the Marodyne LIV. Numerous claims they made were deceptive, in my opinion.
Margaret, just found your videos. about 20 years ago I had a 'almost' detached retina. completely healed on its own(Praise God)would it be okay for me to start using this machine or any other WBV? really want to use it to enhance faster wt loss and not have to use heavy wts all the time. TFR
That's fabulous, Bernadette. You must be thrilled. Could I ask whether you are on osteo medication and were you doing any other exercise, or do you put this increase down to use of the Marodyne and improved diet? Thank you.
@@magpiegirl3783 I was not on any osteoporosis medication nor have I ever been. I increased my walking, I was already doing some exercise weight bearing. I added extra D3 and Magnesium I added k2 and Marine Collagen and I am taking a small amount of strontium 250mg and Resvertrol. I made sure the dexa scan was taken at the same place and a bone marker test taken at the same time also showed a big improvement.
@@magpiegirl3783 I haven't changed my diet much but I have added prunes, I have about five most days and I have a plum extract queen garnet plum that I sprinkle on some yoghurt most days also. I would say my increase would be a combination of all these and definitely the vibration plate. I listed the other things I do. I have had no fractures so even though my bones were low density spine -3.4 femur -3.2 and have had a number of heavy falls I felt, and it is only my opinion that bone quality my be just as important as bone density.
Excellent tutorial, Margaret. Your vids have saved me from making a terrible, innocent-but-ignorant mistake by purchasing a slickly marketed but dangerous platform for a woman with osteoporosis.
@@rhoz5191 I don't think Margaret Martin addressed this specifically. To answer your question, one has to begin with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) approval. ISO certification is a seal of approval from a third-party that attests that a company's device, machine, or material meets certain standards of safety, whole-body vibration being one measure tested. Excess vibration is a known cause of both acute and chronic injury to a range of physiologic systems, including the musculoskeletal, circulatory, and nervous system. ISO certification indicates experts have looked at a product and it does not exceed levels that could be injurious. I did a brief survey of the twenty or so WBV platforms on Amazon and could not find one that had ISO certification. I read several hundred one-star reviews of five or six platforms and found comments claiming the use of the unit had caused some people immediate, acute, and sometimes serious health problems. One customer allegedly experienced potential life-threatening a-fibs, another chronic pain, a third a detached retina, another chronic insomnia, and a fourth dangerously elevated blood pressure. I might have missed something but I did not see any of these units touted as having ISO certification, nor did they mention the g-force experienced by the body while using the unit. There appear to be only two platforms that have ISO certification. The first is the Marodyne LIV (Low-intensity vibration) and the Juvent device. Both also are approved as medical devices; Juvent in the U.S. and the Marodyne in the U.K., Australia, and I presume Germany as well as other nations in the E.U. Consequently, the answer to your question is that all WBV-high-intensity platforms are potentially unsafe and I would feel confident that some uses of every unit other than the Juvent and Marodyne are exposing themselves to potentially injurious levels of vibration and g-force. Remember, it can take years for certain things to create health problems--smoking, alcohol abuse, and a sedentary lifestyle are only three. High-Intensity whole-body vibration platforms may be a fourth.
@@andredarin8966 thank you for this comprehensive answer. Sounds like Juvent is the only one available in the US and both researched and developed by the same people. My main concern is the exclusivity of them- also with distributors it sounds much like other multilevel marketing schemes, not that that is an inherently bad thing, but it does make me wonder if it is too good to be true. (Hey- I still use my Chi machine” from two decades ago 😊) The manufacturers must have patented proprietary technology I suppose. The warning on the less expensive versions is very good to know. Though have specific studies been done with these to verify? We on the low income scale will be challenged to participate in this healthy and bone supporting trend. After all we are a capitalist society it seems. Perhaps there will be a trend for gyms, etc. to have these for public use. Thank you.

@@Artis-yb1pd I’m interested in what she says about the Osteoboost. It now has FDA clearance. It does require a prescription. They do have data on their website. They just did a zoom a couple weeks ago. Looks very promising. I asked about the Marodyne specifically. They feel the Marodyne is good if you need bone density in the foot, ankle etc but feel their product is in a better position to help where most of our bones need help. It sits low on the waist. If I were wealthy I’d buy both.
Thank you Margaret. I can't afford the Marodyne machine. Could you please check out the Lifepro Rumbles Plus 4D Vibration Machine? The price is about $400.00 vs. the Marodyne at about $3,000.00. A review of comparing them would be appreciated.
I think this is a remarkable device. Which could benefit many people. I think the price as set currently is immoral. If this device really cost so much that between four and $5,000 has to be the price that is fine but a similar device could be made without all of the bells and whistles for a much more modest price making it accessible too poor and middle-income people. Resulting savings to our insurance complex would be dramatic and more of them pay for it.
You're not just paying for the device, you are also paying for all the costs associated with the research & development, and the costs to put the study together and execute it long enough to extract the data (and the scans that each person in the study had to have in order to have said data). Surely you realize this, logically? Anyone can slap a motor on a board and make it vibrate. That takes ZERO talent or skills, and has ZERO data to back up whether or not it actually WORKS. I mean, you're not a young guy. Surely by now you understand how this works? You likely also know that it . costs more money to initially manufacture something and, as demand increases and you increase production (because demands has increased), manufacturing costs go down. This is business 101. Did you *not* watch the video where the researcher talks about how much the clinical trials cost and how difficult it was to get people to volunteer? If not, you need to go watch it. I also agree with you that it is cost prohibitive for most people...right now. ...and your insurance company doesn't care about you...at all. They're hoping to extract enough money from you and then have you suddenly die. That's true for your car insurance, too. It's cheaper for the health and auto insurance companies if you die, then if they have to pay to restore your health if something serious happens.

For many years II have had a pinched nerve in one foot and metatarsalgia in both. Orthotics have successfully addressed both issues by redistributing my weight. Can I wear my orthotics when standing on the Marodyne? The orthotics are rigid and made of hard plastic. They extend from my heels almost to the metatarsals.
I want to buy this. Can anyone tell me if you’ve had a heart attack? Can you use the vibration plate? my ejection fraction went back to normal. I only take one medication. I’m feeling great.
I am a 70 year old female with osteopenia, I have been watching your utubes for several months and have subscribed to your channel. Is the price the current price? Will it work in Europe with a DC connector? Will it cause the performance of the plate to be different? If purchase is it possible for the company to change the existing electric system for Europe when it will be taken over seas?
Thank you for your very informative videos on this vibration platform, very much appreciated. There are two companies in the US - COPA Health Care and ValMedX - that sale this vibration platform, both in Florida. Which one do you recommend? Thank you.
Spending time researching for a low-frequency vibration plate, but so many on Amazon at reasonable prices but concerned about too strong a vibration at the lowest level. Any economy-priced plates here in the US? Thanks
Margaret, generally speaking , better bone density and quality means less pain ? Have you had many clients report pain reduction after using the plate for a good while ? And does the plate help the bones of the arms as well ?
Hello, Osteoporosis is not the cause for your pain unless you have fractured. There is no correlation between bone density, bone quality and pain. However, osteoarthritis can be painful and I and others have been told by users of the Marodyne LiV that is reduces their pain and helps them move better. No studies on this though. All the best, Margaret
Thank you for this video Margaret. I'm Australian and made enquiries about the Marodyne here. Only one medical firm supplies it here and it costs $4,500 plus tax and freight. So, I decided to bite the bullet and invest in this given I'm at 3.0 T score in my spine. I'm doing your exercises and reformer pilates with a physiotherapist who understands resistance training needs for bone health. I am still confused about the amount of time you need to spend on this machine to optimise results. I keep hearing Dr Rubin talk about 10 minutes either in one session, or 2 x 5 min sessions every day, but in one of your video talks with him you asked whether it could be done more times in the day and he said yes but did not explain whether it could be another 10 minutes or less time. Can you please clarify? I understand if you do more than one session, they need to be 3 to 5 hours apart. So ... can you do 2 sessions of 10 mins each with 5 hours between? And can you do light arm exercises during a session? Also, is it best to do some exercise immediately after your Marodyne session such as a walk or one of your exercise routines? Thanks so much.
Hi Sandra. Congrats. Lotsa questions! It is important that you continue your exercise program outside of you Marodyne time. Keep up the good work. 1./ The default time on the device is 10 minutes per session. Stick with that time. Await the refractory period (several hours) before another 10 minute session (or your exercise program). 2./ You can do light arm exercises but you need to maintain alignment to ensure the signal propagates through your skeleton. 3./ Depending on your schedule it would be great if you could have your 10 minute Marodyne session and then follow several hours later with your osteoporosis strength training, weight bearing ...
@@Magpie Girl, these are great questions that definitely needed answers. And it’s thanks to you that I’m here!! You commented under another WBV video, and I’m thankful! :) Also wanted to say that there is controversy on Dexa… I don’t believe it to be a reliable home scan. I advise research on that, and it unnecessarily scares a lot of people! ❤
Hi, thank you for the wonderful video. I have osteoporosis of the left femur bone and osteopenia of the back and hips. I also have had rheumatoid arthritis for 23 years. I’m 68. I have used the device since 11/5/21. My hips have stopped twitching at night. I put it on Care Credit $3080, for one year, as I live in the US, and pay it off monthly. I feel it is worth it. Ever since I’ve had it it has had a loud alarm, sometimes when I finish the ten minutes and sometimes when I get off during the ten minutes. I am sending the device back tomorrow 1/27/22, to be fixed. It will take one week. And, I do hot pilates without the heat six times a week, 45 minutes a session. Thank you, Ellen
It’s been two days now without the device. I can now see how much the device has been helping me. Without it I’ve had hip pain at night and pain and stiffness in my back during the day. I can’t wait to get the device back from repair.
Thank you for your comment. It is wonderful of you to share your story. My Marodyne device also makes a loud noise to let me know I am done or if I step off in between. It is just a feature of the machine. I don’t know if there is anything wrong with it but it is good to have it checked out. Stopping the device for one week will not make a difference. By the time you do your next bone density test you will have over 700 sessions on the vibration platform. If you want to boost the benefit you can add a second 10-minute session in your day. Allow 3 - 5 hours between sessions for maximum benefit. It is great that you are practicing Pilates but please be sure that you are not doing any contraindicated movements. There are many moves in Pilates that can put your spine at risk. Because of your RA the dexa scan is giving you a false reading. Making your spine score look osteopenic rather than osteoporotic. This can seem confusing but the reason is that when we have arthritis we get bone spurs and changes to the bone that do not make out bones stronger but do make our bones look stronger - the machine is not very smart. So please take care, Margaret
Thank you Margaret for your important reply. When I get the device back I will let you know how it is doing alarm wise. Yes, I understand I’m not to do rounding of the back, sit ups, and be careful with twisting movements. I think the main thing is to keep proper alignment, is that correct? I understand fractures in the spine can be silent. I am going to find a physical therapist in my locality that can help me develop an osteoporosis program. I read your book and that was helpful. The Marodyne Liv is such a great machine. It has helped my balance, lessened my pain, given me more confidence that I can turn my osteoporosis diagnosis around. I do plan to use the device twice a day when I get it back. Thank you so much for your kind reply.
When I first turned my Marodyne on I had it on a tiled bathroom floor and it made a loud alarm. That means the machine is not completely flat on the floor. Just moving it around slightly enabled it to register that it was flat and I was able to use it. I don't generally move it around - I have a spot for it, but sometimes, even if I haven't moved the machine, it will still sound the alarm, so I just move it slightly.
No you will not. In fact, the usage of that type of plate could be quite dangerous. Read here: melioguide.com/physical-therapy-continuing-education/whole-body-vibration-therapy-contraindications/
I’ve seen vibration platforms that are $100, $200, $300, $500 dollars. Yours, the Marodyne is $3000. What does yours do in terms of vibration that the less expensive platforms do not?
Thank you Margaret for this video. I did read the article and I’m still not clear. My vibration plate ranges between 4-15 hz and I use it only on the low setting. Are you saying that is not healthy? It should be 30hz? Thank you.
Thank you for this information - after reading the other comments and seeing the price - hope I can add myself to a list to purchase a refurbished one down the road. I am also intrigued by your laptop stand that you used towards the end of your video - can you please tell me the brand and do you like it enough to recommend that I get one? Hi, I do osteogenic loading at Osteostrong. They have vibration plates and guide clients to do exercises including bending for 2 minutes before and after sessions. Even though I've increased my bone density, after learning from you I'm concerned about continuing to use the vibration plates. Wondering if a Marodyne vibration plate alone would work better?
3 years ago I went to a free introductory session at Osteostrong. Afterwards I asked my doctor about them but he didn’t know anything about them, but he did say the vibration plates do help osteoporosis. I was diagnosed with osteopenia at the same time so I bought a vibration plate on Amazon for $100 (less than 1 month fee at Osteostrong) and my latest scan done 6 months ago shows I no longer have osteopenia.
This is not a risk with low intensity vibration platforms, like the Marodyne. However, they a real risk with high intensity platforms. This articles covers your question and more here: melioguide.com/osteoporosis-treatment/can-you-use-vibration-plate/
Hello. I too have contacted them by email regarding a refurbished unit and never heard from them. This was at least 3 months ago. I saw on some of the reviews that they are don’t reply.
They're probably not offering refurbished machines anymore, or the list is so long, they know they'll never be able to fill it. ...or if they're truly nefarious, they're delaying hoping you'll bite the bullet and buy one at full price.
Thank you for your interesting videos Margaret! I would love to use this technique for my osteopenia but unfortunately this specific machine is too expensive for me. Appreciate the video Margaret. I was diagnosed with mild osteoporosis of the lower spine in 2020 and have my next DEXA in a couple of months. I’ve been faithfully using the Marodyne for about six months and hope it along with your exercise program I’ve been doing for almost 2 years will improve my score. Question - I want to take care of the machine and have been leaving it on. Do you happen to know if it might be better to power on and off each day. Thank you
Good question. Thanks for following my exercise program. I checked the user manual and did not see a mention of whether it is best to turn off the device when not in use. You might want to contact the distributor who sold you the device. I turn mine off during the day because 1./ I am sensitive about using too much energy and 2./ I find most electrical devices need a periodic reset.
Does this gentle vibration actually help with muscle toning?? I certainly that along with building bone. Seems unlikely. I look forward to replies as I am past ready to own a machine. Thank you!
Does anyone know if Sunlife Financial or any insurance company would cover the cost or part of the cost given its purported effectiveness? Perhaps with a doctor's note...? (Not that a dr would write a note given they'd lose money from the drugs they wouldn't need to prescribe in such a scenario.)

Went to their website through your link and sent my info. to them. Unfortunately, I don't see any reviews made by people in USA. The few they have are mostly from UK. Is there not anyone from USA or the other parts of the world, even in Canada who have used this machine for bone health? Margaret, I’m very interested in the Marodyne and all the osteoporosis benefits you demonstrated. The cost is holding me way back. Pretty bummed. But I called the company and they occasionally offer refurbished machines fully tested and warrantied. On the list! $3k vs $1500
What is the cost of this device, do you know?

I'd love to know if there are more affordable options for LIV plates.

Looking forward to hearing your next DEXA results.

Thank you,

So please take care,
Margaret

I hope this helps!! ❤
Does the company offer you a discount to your viewers?
Yes. You can access the discount here: my-marodyne-liv.btt-health.com/
Hello Margaret is it safe for people with muscular dystrophy
Hi Sammy. Yes, it is. You can learn more about the modality here. melioguide.com/osteoporosis-exercise-equipment/whole-body-vibration-therapy/
Thank you very much. Very well made video indeed. And what is the name / brand of the device you use just under your laptop. It looks very good and these are difficult to find! Thanks in advance!
I use the omoton laptop stand. You can find it at Amazon. amzn.to/3eeV9ep
2024 price for this is around $3,500! - too expensive for the average person. What less expensive alternatives are there??
Why isn’t there a red “ON” button on top? Just tap it with your toe to power it on/off. When the machine is ready, the button turns green.
That would be a lot more sensible! Having to reach down and behind is very annoying especially if you have difficulty bending.
Do you seriously expect her to explain WHY they made the design choices they made??? I mean, get real.
If you want an answer, use basic common sense and contact the company and ask.
Can I use it first thing in the morning and then go for my workout? My workout time tends to be in the morning hours
Hi Dawn. You can. I would further suggest that you have another 10 minute LiV session later in the afternoon (say 4 hours after your morning workout.)
How can I get it please
Where can I buy it?
Please let me know
Thank you

I am curious if your numbers improved if you do not mind to share.
@@lauolivia29 they did. -2.6 lumbar in 2020 to -2.1 in 2022

Does this gentle vibration actually help with muscle toning?? I certainly that along with building bone.
Seems unlikely. I look forward to replies as I am past ready to own a machine. Thank you!
@@Rho, I think I read on the Marodyne site that it doesn’t help build muscle.
I’d like to know the price before I give my information
Does anyone know if Sunlife Financial or any insurance company would cover the cost or part of the cost given its purported effectiveness? Perhaps with a doctor's note...? (Not that a dr would write a note given they'd lose money from the drugs they wouldn't need to prescribe in such a scenario.)
Hi, this is an interesting item however it is something I could not afford. I am wondering your thoughts about a rebounder? Thank you for being there for us Seniors with your videos, they are much needed. Keep safe :)
hi i saw an interview with someone i dont remember who on youtube and this question was asked. short answer is rebounder is better than nothing but as you want to have 'impact' on your bones the rebounder actually softens the impact. to be certain to make your own decision though try googling the question and some more answers might come up. also check out if you havent bob and brad on youtube as they have a lot of info on things you can do in shorts bursts throughout the day at home to help our bones..
@@avrilf4252 Thank you. I have glanced at Bob & Brad with intentions of checking them out more, guess I'd should do so, they seem interesting. Have a good day :)
Some of the lower priced vibration machines have hertz lower (15 hertz). Would this be sufficient?
No. Please read my blog post. melioguide.com/osteoporosis-exercise-equipment/whole-body-vibration-therapy/

How long are you supposed to stand on it to receive benefit?
Each session is 10 minutes.
Since the whole body vibrates, could the vibration be dangerous for the heart or brain?
I doubt it...
Hi Margaret, how do people like me who work full time use it 3-5 hours apart? I could use it at 7 am but not shown till around 5:30-6.. will I still get the benefits? Thank you !
Angela
Hi Angela. You will benefit because you will use it several times through the day. The shorter the duration between the sessions, the better but your approach will generate positive results, regardless.
@@margaretmartinpt Can you review @Angela Harley’s question to make sure you answered it please?
Is this science fiction?? How do you order it or find an outlet?
