Landcruiser (and Lexus LX570) built (actually way over-built) at dedicated factory in Japan, vs. US-based factory - the Landcruiser is specifically designed to excel and perform in the harshest environment, and to bring you home... that is why you pay $60k for Sequoia vs. almost $90k for the Landcruiser
I am so ready to purchase a Land Cruiser, but they fact that they haven't updated the electronics since 2013 just drives me crazy. There is no plan to update them in 2021 either. They only way that is going to happen is if I buy one. The next year they will come out with an amazing system.
Perhaps a Lexus GX? As the LC will be d/c’ed after ‘21. Was really hoping to get into an LC myself, but I’m sure the will be swooped up before I’m in the market.
The LC 200's has 10 ladder frame, solid rear axle, crawl control, downhill, uphill and turn assist, KDSS. The Sequoia is truly a big tree but the LC is like the Bristle Cone Pine, that is tenacious, able to survive in harsh, dry, and rocky, poor soil environment. It outlives any living thing.
+Drivers Only I really enjoy your style of review! I wanted to give you an idea to kick around. I’ll start by saying that I’m a big fan of Toyota. I bought my 2007 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner TRD Off-Road new in June 2007 to haul my dirt bikes and my sportbike. It now has 225,000 miles, and, to say that I’ve been very impressed with its dependability would be an understatement. I know you review a lot of Toyotas, and you seem to like them as well. The reliability and low cost of ownership of Toyota trucks is legendary. When you buy a Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia, 4Runner or Land Cruiser, you know you have something that will last almost indefinitely if you take care of it. But, questions are starting to be raised. Not about reliability and longevity - everyone knows Toyota has that “down-pat”. What people are wondering is, when are we going to see some much needed updates in the powertrains? Toyota has fallen behind other OEMs (Ford, especially, comes to mind) when it comes to powertrains. Toyota is soldiering on with the same old powertrains they’ve had for years. Yeah, they’re reliable, but they’re getting boring. Ford’s twin-turbo EcoBoost engines are making tons more HP and torque than anything Toyota has, and they’re getting equal or better economy while doing it! And Ford continues to innovate and update these engines, in an effort to improve reliability, toughness, power, and economy. We know Toyota has some insanely deep pockets. When are we going to see Toyota flex their huge engineering muscles and come out with some new powertrains that will kick Ford’s and everyone else’s asses in the horsepower and torque and economy departments, while being as reliable as their current powertrains? Would love to see a video from you, discussing this subject. I know there have been some rumors on RUclips and elsewhere online about the next-Gen Tundra. But nothing solid has materialized.
Hey John! It's a great idea but a hard one to make a video about. There are a lot of rumors and speculation at this point but I've talked with Toyota and Lexus guys before about this topic and they all say its because Toyota wants to stay with what works. They let others come out with new engines first and they then follow but do it correctly. That is why Toyota's have no turbo engines right now besides the one in the Supra but that's BMW's engine. I hear Toyota is working on some cool turbo V8s but who knows when that is going to be out. Most Toyota owners would rather buy a SUV or car that isn't the fastest or most powerful as long as they last forever.
Fuel economy SUCKS. 13 city 17 highway leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when Chrysler can make a 5.7l V8 get over 20 mpg and have 395 horsepower vs Toyota's 381 from their 5.7 V8.
Great video I will say that the Land Cruiser 200 series is the most sought after iconic greatest vehicle ever to be built. There is no debating that. Prices will continue to go up. There is no other truck you can drive from Anchorage to Argentina and not have any problems. The build quality along with comfort and capability again make this the best car money can buy.

Really great review. I've found a lot of people in Sequoias moved from 4runners. I just did today. 4R was amazing, wish I could have kept it, but for a family it really suffers. @@ksuhanpatrl3072 Somehow I think that your mom isn't the target audience for a Land Cruiser. If you offroad at all and care about it, buy a LC. If not, by a Sequioa. Its really that simple.
The Land Cruiser is of course more plush and off road capable. But for almost everyone, the difference in off road capability will not matter at all. And who is going to take a $90K vehicle off road in rock, trees and mud? Gas mileage is the same. Both will last. I drive a 200 series LC. It has a lot of power and is really great for long drives both on and off road. It’s primary competition is a Range Rover. I tested the Sequoia before buying a LC, and the Land Cruiser really does feel more upscale in every area, except for cargo capability. Ill take the older gen land cruiser over a new one any day. The design update makes it look more like a city driver rather than a proper overlanding rig imo.
LC for legendary off-road capabilities, although the Sequoia has better angles AND ground clearance. Seq dash and Entune are superior, LC seating is more refined. Lol at you saying @ 7:00 and 9:14 that the designs are 10 and 20 years old, respectively. Sir, that's Toyota/Lexus' main Operating Strategy; Reliability at the cost of Innovation. I PREFER the Land Crusier as it's just more aesthetically attractive and has a much longer history of being a stellar performer. The Sequoia is the more practical buy; less expensive yet larger and "good enough".
I have sequoia 2005 and I still have it I like the fittings I am only 4’11 I like set high I can see more while driving Also I have Land cruiser in the Philippines it’s a great dependable vehicles .. ..
I think the SR5 Sequoia is a genuine deal in the 3 ton SUV class. By the time you get to TRD Pro prices the value proposition slips. As for the Land Cruiser, it is a 'money's no object' type of vehicle as it is configured for North America. It is amazing how many Land Cruiser variants there are around the world. You can get this same Land Cruiser body with the 4Runner's 4.0 V6 in other markets.
@Travis Brooks Excellent. I am hopeful there will be more 4X4 options from Toyota in more reasonable price brackets. Having said that, the SR5 4Runner is also a very good deal. Will there ever be another one priced like the base FJ?
The land cruiser tows the sequoia like its on ice with its power train. Love toyota but land cruiser is top of the line when it comes to power. Sequoia is just a lifted van for family trips
I’d take the Land Cruiser any day. Made in Japan, sold literally all over the world, parts availability worldwide and better aftermarket support. Not to mention the Seqouia is ugly as hell.
Both trucks are made in Japan first of all, second of all if you buy the same package in both trucks you can't tell them apart they look exactly alike in the front and the back almost oh, I should know I test drove both trucks at my local Toyota dealer. The Land Cruiser is a big Financial ripoff you should get a lot more for your money with adjustable 2nd row seating and 3rd row seating is a joke you cannot take out 3rd row seats it doesn't have nowhere near the cargo room it doesn't have the wheelbase and it doesn't have interior space, Common Sense dictates the Sequoia wins the fight.
4 gauge Nice try but the Seqouia is built in Princeton Indiana (that’s in the US in case you didn’t know) . They look nothing alike thank god. You obviously don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Land Cruiser any day over that pos.
Maybe you confused the 4Runner with the sequoia. I believe the 4Runner is still made in Japan , but the sequoia has always been built in USA. On another note, the LC 5.7 engine is built in the USA also.

Sequoia hands down !
I have sequoia 2005 and I still have it I like the fittings I am only 4’11 I like set high I can see more while driving Also I have Land cruiser in the Philippines it’s a great dependable vehicles .. ..
Sequoia all day. Thanks for the great video, you helped me make a decision.
And a 4.5 litre twin turbo V8 diesel, albeit with a 6 speed auto, in Australia
@Travis Brooks Excellent. I am hopeful there will be more 4X4 options from Toyota in more reasonable price brackets. Having said that, the SR5 4Runner is also a very good deal. Will there ever be another one priced like the base FJ?
If the Sequoia shared exterior design language with the 4 runner we’d be hard pressed not to get one. (My wife absolutely loves the 4 runner!)
completely agree! I've been wondering why the hell Toyoto doesn't make a bigger, V8 powered 4 runner. shame.
Sequoia for life!
TLC rules !
Sequoia TRD is for soccer moms that spend 6 days a week in the gym trying to look as trim and fit as the TLC.TLC;there is no substitute.
I live close to where you film your videos....I have a silver Heritage en route due in any day now. Probably going to be the only one in the area. 😎
Great video. Very informative. Thanks!
You're welcome!
very good comparison. Thx!
I feel like a comparison between the lc200 heritage vs the sequoia trd pro would make a better comparison
I personally like the TRD PRO Sequoia
I'll go with lc
Both are great.... at the end of the day is “you get what you paid for” kind of deal.....
Which one faster?
Buy the sequoia and watch your value go down quick I’ll keep my 3 cruisers
@Cletus Ross really ok do some research lol same year sequoia vrs same year land cruiser.
Just putting it out there 3rd row seats is for kids ands friends that are not really friends but wants to tag along and not put in for gas
The land cruiser tows the sequoia like its on ice with its power train. Love toyota but land cruiser is top of the line when it comes to power. Sequoia is just a lifted van for family trips
They have the same engine...
Im glad i own a 21 LC
TOYOTA LAND CRUISER CAR IS SUPER
Land Cruiser, is hands down superior over the low budget Sequoia! Anyone that thinks different don’t know much about cars
LC engine is built in Japan.
The person that gave a thumbs down would probably kick a puppy too
neither is better.Every car is for different purposes
Kind of feels like humangosaur vs ultimate humangosaur
1st 😂 idk how you have the time to push out this high quality content on both channels. Stay healthy George. Cheers. HODL BTC
I work too hard :).
You can tell he cared a lot about editing.
Land Cruiser .........for life.....
Toyota Land Cruiser any day
Gotta have the nice interior and off-road goodies if you're gonna spent that much money. LC ftw
I love Sequoia
Land cruiser is best 😎💪
You should get both with same colour
2021 Platinum Sequoia!
@@4gauge10 sequoia made in usa, not japan
Maybe you confused the 4Runner with the sequoia. I believe the 4Runner is still made in Japan , but the sequoia has always been built in USA. On another note, the LC 5.7 engine is built in the USA also.
valetudo025 4Runner is and always has been built in Japan. I’ve owned 4 and currently own two 5th gens.
Sequoia far way better.
Sequoia for me
Sequoia resell value sucks comparing land cruiser
Everything's resell value sucks compared to the Land Cruiser.
@@jeffreysanders6342 Instead of G Wagon. (Not a fan at all of this cube)
Bro, if your thinking resale, don't even consider buying, ok
Is sequoia getting redesigned in 2022 ?
I want boffum
The 4 runner "Limited" gives you everything you need. Why pay tons more..........
True but not as much space as these guys
Not quite everything you need...not even close. You need to drive both and you'll understand.
No in cabin drinks cooler in the little 4runner
this is the ultimate driving machine not the bmw
LC any day
قطعة هندسية جميلة متوحشة قوية ماشاء الله اللهم ارزقنا مثلها يا رب العالمين تحفة فنية رائعة وتمتاز بالقوة والجمال أحبها
Sequoia is my pick
TRD Sequoia 👍🏻
