Yah, the SE4100 is the only mic that has tempted me since getting the LS-208.

Loved your top 3, and would put the LCT 240 pro up in there because I just personally love that clean/clear sound for a change up.

@@ObscureMics Mics are more important but if you'd like a shallow Depth of Field on Obscure Mic episodes.... buuuut that's a different rabbit hole we don't wanna make you spend on. Your current setup serves youtube easily and is great enough for family trip documentation. :)

@@ObscureMics well in the 208 it seems like with the proximity effect you can get some nice bass along with using the low pass filter. The 4100 doesn’t seem to have that energy to my ears, just sounds really smooth but not very energetic in the lower frequencies.

Great choices. Would have loved to hear my top choice, the Earthworks Ethos, among them, but not sure you have one. BTW, that U873R sounds fantastic. I couldn't find it available anywhere, but even when I did see it listed it was less affordable than I'd hoped. Good thing, too, because I have enough audio toys to play with as it stands.

Same ordered a LS-208 and currently have a Ethos. I couldn't find a comparison anywhere online so I'm just gonna return/sell whichever doesn't match my voice. 😅 Can't lose if you end up with a great mic no matter what.
Ethos is great but it's basically a dark mic with a sparkle and clarity on it extending into high range. Great mic but a bit one note and I don't need to lean into a dark sound. I have a natural feminine husky speaking voice but always felt the ethos was a bit veiled on bright reads (though commercial bright reads are uncanny no matter how you cut it, the level of pep is inhuman).
