It's so bizarre to not see any homeless people in this video. If you go downtown now it's absolutely flooded with them it's pretty sad when you think about it.

Los Angeles has had a population explosion since then. There's so much traffic all over Downtown these days in comparison. I used to think it was bad then, but it's unbelievable sometimes how bad traffic has gotten.
I don't know what people are talking about. I was just down there a few weeks ago and had the opposite experience, coming from DTSF. 1. I was movie location hunting and was looking forward to the dark back alleys. Ain't none left. They are all locked, brightly lit at night and swept clean. I want them accessible, dark and dirty with newspaper flying about like they were in the movies when I was a kid. I was disappointed. 2. Despite that, I feel that DTLA has somehow retained some of its 80's feel. I don't know how or what it is, but I felt it. Perhaps the skyscrapers remind me of the old days. Bunker Hill especially has that feeling still. 3. I made several last second left turns without a problem. All of them successful. I mean huh ? That surprised me. Driving there was a breeze I thought. Try that in DTSF where you cannot make a left in the first place. It feels like the city is made up of right turn only lanes. Ain't no 10 horses drag me into DTSF by car unless it's absolutely necessary. 4. Not a single homeless person as much as looked at me. Try that in the Tenderloin where you get yelled at and shit gets thrown at you. 5. Several great skybars ! I especially loved the one on the 73rd floor of the Intercontinental. 6. I was in the Diamond district at 1am and felt safer than in DTSF at 9pm in the Mission around Valencia. Yes, I saw 2 shady creatures in a corner doing stuff I'd rather unsee, but again nothing I hadn't seen in the SF Mission district before. 7. One oddity I found is that DTLA has a distict piss smell in certain corners that differes from the piss smell in DTSF. You'd think piss is piss but, ostensibly, not. 8. Alltogether, I had a great time there. LA:1 SF:0. Someone had to speak up for the poor city :) Yes, I know, SKID ROW - but I didn't go there. If I wanna see that I just walk down Market street in DTSF.

I miss the 90’s.
I was born towards the end of 1990. Some of these cars were still fairly common when I was 5 which are the earliest memories I can still remember.

Early 80s kid I remember those mta buses and it didn't have so many homeless people like it does now. All these homeless are from out of state
Back then they were RTD buses. It later changed to MTA.

The biggest difference since the 90s are definitely the cars.
And the lack of smartphones.
the biggest difference is the entire landscape and the entire population
