Neat engine! I bought my son the Strausburg lion cheif set when it came out 3 years ago....looks like the same engine, his has the strausburg sound board with the tourist line conductor crew talk and even does the ghost whistle. My only whish is that it could have had a switch to change to conventional instead of hanheld remote only if needed.
Thanks. I agree! Conventional would be a nice feature. I also wish I could just blow the ghost whistle without the dialog. But it’s still a great engine!!
Dave…..sounds great to me! Did not know it had all those announcements and the cool ghost whistle. I was going to buy that now i wish i had, provided there was still one for you…ha ha
That is an awesome find, the dialog alone is worth it! Amazing that it came with the ghost whistle, you didn't have to pay the legacy price to get it. I was going to pick up some of those cheap samples but held off, feel like I might have missed out now.
Dave for $150 that's a sweet deal! LOVE the "ghost whistle" effect too, a neat feature! Sure, pull some Pennsy and / or Reading passenger cars with it, that's what the real Strasburg did before they redid most of the fleet to their own markings. I'm tempted to look into that Lionel warehouse sale but I'm going to hold off, I'm saving money for York next week. I've gotta be ready for what finds ME! 🤩
I was able to partake of the online sale as well. I bought two locomotives, the anniversary Polar Express, and the Santa Fe F3 Warbonnet. I couldn’t pass up the 150.00 price.
I bought the same engine during the sale and am in the same boat as what to pull. I repurposed PRR coaches with PRSL road name. Thinking I’ll do the same here.
Nice looking engine, i just wish Lionel would give you 4-chuff per rev. They still doing the single chuff thing on the entry level engines, and 2-chuff on LC Plus 2.0. Only legacy has proper 4-chuff.
Honestly I'm little ambivalent toward the chuff effects myself, with two or more engines going it's hard to tell the difference between them, for me anyway. As long as the engine's got whistle, bell, and smoke I'm good, that's all I need. And I can even do without the bell.
Great deal, Dave. I've never heard of the Lionel wharehouse sale. Good to know. The whistle is not bad. I kinda like it. It's unique. I don't think I've ever heard anything else quite like it. The ghost whistle is just another bonus feature. Is it a Lionchief Plus model? I got a similar deal on eBay years ago on a Lionchief Plus Polar Express engine and tender. It had never been run. I got it for my initial bid of $145.00 4 or 5 years ago. It was part of the polar express set that the guy bought just for the passenger cars and already had another engine so it came in the original clam shells but without the instructions. It's Bluetooth equipped and I run it on the Lionel app but I just found out a year ago it can also be controlled by just using voice commands on the Lionel app.
@dagryffynhobby it's Bluetooth equipped. I could tell by the sound it makes looking for the signal. My Pennsy #421 0-8-0 switcher that uses a remote isn't Bluetooth equipped and doesn't make that sound. If you download the app it can be ran buy your smartphone or tablet. There are more settings you can do on your smartphone. It will have the voice feature. If you don't have the app it's free. You can run it with Lionels universal remote also. A universal remote would be a good investment. You can operate 3 Bluetooth locomotives simultaneously and anything Legacy without having the Legacy control system.

Hello Dave I got a question for you I sent you a text asking about your shirts do you still have them available please let me know and where do I need to go get them what site. Also just curious are you going to ever make me think about buying one of the Trump box cars?
What CAN be done is wire a back-up / tail light to be on all the time but color the lens red with a Sharpie pen. I've got a Lionel Camelback that has a permanently "on" tender light that I've done the Sharpie treatment to, looks good!

Looks like a good deal! Congrats man!
What a stinking great deal. You did it again. 🎉
For $150, how could you not?! Great score, Dave!
Exactly!
Hi Dave you got a real bargain there compared to the thousands they want for the other engines 😃👍🚂
You got yourself a fun little loco Dave 😆😆 Great puller 👍👍 Thanks for sharing 🚂🚂
Thanks. I’m surprised it pulled so well.
Wow, Dave, it looks like you got a great deal! Good for you! I always enjoy Lionel’s switch engines, particularly their 0-8-0’s. Bill B.
Thanks Bill!
Nice steamer, Dave. The Strasburg Railroad is well represented on your layout!
Many thanks!
Nice little switcher loco, smaller locos are close to scale even inO27
Thanks. It’s close enough for me
Great addition to your collection. I bought parts from the sale. I didn’t think to look for engines 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I love it when model steam engines blow smoke rings! 😃
It’s just so cool!
Love it the crew talk is very cool and Ghost Whistle is awesome
It’s much more than I expected. I wish I could just blow the ghost whistle without the dialog

I was quite surprised it had the announcements and whistle, it’s pretty cool
What a deal!
Sure was
Very good addition to the collection Dave! It might not have a backup light, but it sounds very impressive
For what it is, it’s good enough!
What a great deal...and she's beautiful.
Thanks

Thanks! It really was a great deal. Wish I could get it to do the ghost whistle without the dialog, but I’m still super happy with it

Thanks. Yeah timing wasn’t great with York coming up, oh well!
Nice! That is a great acquisition, for sure. The Strasburg locomotives are cool, little units. An excellent video, as always.
Thank you very much!
I think its a great piece. 👍
Me too!
I was able to partake of the online sale as well. I bought two locomotives, the anniversary Polar Express, and the Santa Fe F3 Warbonnet. I couldn’t pass up the 150.00 price.
Strasburg is a good enough reason to buy a model locomotive. Wednesday is a good reason to buy a locomotive too. 😬 BTW, I like the whistle.
I agree!
Nice steam engine and a great price 👍
Indeed!
Good deal! For $150, I'd say you got a good bargain. The bell and whistle sound fine to my ear, but I can always live without the crew talk. 😉
Thanks. Agree on the crew talk but this one is neat being specific to Strasburg, still I’ll probably never use it.
I think the Pennsy P54 coach would look sweet behind this loco!
Yes they would!
I bought the same engine. Very nice for the price.
It really is
Fabulous buy man.
I’m happy!
@@dagryffynhobby right on.
Wow that is an awesome engine you got! I really like the sounds and the announcements to it!
Thanks, it’s better than i expected
Thanks Dave Kool I Say!
Thanks!
Nice engine. I just inherited a Strasburg Railroad coffee mug that belonged to my grandfather.
Sweet, a vintage mug!
BOFFO deal! Love those smoke rings! Enjoy!😊
Will do!!
Cool. My grandsons favorite RR.
Nice
I bought the same engine during the sale and am in the same boat as what to pull. I repurposed PRR coaches with PRSL road name. Thinking I’ll do the same here.
Nice! I’ll probably run mine with prr coaches. Unless I find something else.

Neat! the Strasburg is a breath of fresh air from the usual Pennsylvania, New York Central, Santa Fe, Union Pacific combo.

Thanks, I’m happy either way it. I don’t know which lionchief it is. It does have a Bluetooth logo on the bottom of it.

The backup light is just for show Dave. It doesn’t work! But you may be able to wire it. Congratulations Dave I like it.

@@wayneantoniazzi2706I have a MPC switcher that I plan on upgrading with a light on the tender. 😊
I don’t think the light on the tender lights up
That’s what I’ve been told. Someday when I’m bored I’ll install a light
