Great video. In answer to your question, I really crave deep and overlapping tech trees with specialised OPTIONAL structures and preferably customisation. Let me turn my metropolis into a neon lit SciFi police state full of night parks and cyberpunk derigibles. While the guy next to me playing the exact same game is meticulously nudging the terrain deformation to build his perfect carless river/canal city.
As an example, see rimworld.
Thanks.
Oooo a cyberpunk city builder.... now THERE is a concept.... quick google suggests some "designers" but no actual city builder games.
But one with total freedom would be impressive, I guess the closest to that are things like cities skylines. Paradox would be all over that DLC boat :P
Rimworld is a superb game, the modding community really too that to another level.
I liked the demo but it seemed more of an optimization puzzle with a city building theme. Are the avalanches random in any way?
Avalanches have predetermined placements on the map so not random in that sense. They do increase in power as you play which caught me off guard once. My basic defences did not protect against the change in power. Weather also effects them.
I think there is to some extent an element of planning your placement which some might consider a puzzle? but I guess I like that personally, other city builders do it too, it adds another aspect to the city planning.
Though I never felt that much like I was playing a puzzle, its more a classic city builder (Cesar 3, Pharaoh) than something like cities skylines.
Though honestly beyond the tutorial most of the mountains seem to have an excess of building space though you have to be selective about what you build where on some.
For example some have limited green zones so building houses there is probably not a good use of the space.
with Manor Lords around the corner - why even bother...
Because they are different styles of game. This is a pure city builder with some interesting mechanics.
Manor lords is a city builder crossed with an RTS, and thus does not achieve the same complexity in its production trees etc because development has been focused on other aspects.
So some people will enjoy this more, some will enjoy Manor Lords more.
@@Bandanner sure, but who has the time for TWO time killers)
@@2unguska well some people will I am sure.
Regardless as I said some people will prefer Laysara and some will prefer Manor Lords. And some people would buy Laysara rather than Manor Lords.
