The same way Sky Babylon seems to be Angel Island and Babylon Gardens, Blaze to me feels like she could be sort of a Sonic/Knuckles counterpart at the same time.

I think a big problem with Marine is they don't really do a good enough job touching on her strong points, its implied she's super smart, creating her own water bike at the start, as well as her improved one at the end, alongside Tails having her (and Sonic) assist him with making and upgrading all the vehicles. They focused way to hard on her being a joke character then anything, and clearly, despite someone like me not minding her, there are people that find her very annoying. Then there's also her weird power at the end of the game, I'm in the camp of people that believe its some kind of water power, to go alongside Blaze's fire powers, but we'll likely never know now. Lastly she promised at the end of the game to be a much better person, and they could have made her a more likable character if she returned, showing clear character development... and they could have easily put her in a team with Silver and Blaze in TSR, since everyone and their mom for years has brought up how if they wanted a trio team for Silver and Blaze, Marine makes a lot more sense then randomly slapping Vector onto them and ignoring Charmy and Espio are his team mates.

She could have a moveset like Amy's in advance one, not being as good as others but making it up with other strengths (I'd love if she didn't have boost but was naturally faster than the others because she always rushes in). I have no doubt people would have liked her way more if that was the case. (Also doesn't help she never really gets punished by her wrongdoings as well, makes it feel like she never really grows)
Blaze was created to basically be a female version of Sonic that also has the same kind of responsibilities as Knuckles, is a completely different kind of animal, and has a tragic back story like Shadow but isn't quite a complete edge lord (not that the real Shadow was even ever meant to be an edge lord). She's also one of the better characters of the series because she immediately gets character growth and thankfully didn't regress her the same way they did Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and maybe one or two other unlucky kids who got the 2010s simplification.
Seems as though Blaze, Silver and Eggman were the only three major characters who didn't get flanderised by the 2010 recast. That being said, I'd love to see the former two get their time to shine once again.
Ok look, I know everyone hates Marine. But think of it this way. Without her, we would never have the greatest drawn face in comic history courtesy of Shadow! Besides that, I actually like the levels more than Rush 1 cause they are much more forgiving. I can't recall too many times I died to an unnecessary bottomless pit. I didn't mind the padding, I found it to be harmless but unnecessary nonetheless. But fuck those Johnny races. The bosses are better designed as very few are waiting games, and as a whole, I actually go back and replay this one more than Rush. But I'll probably never start from scratch again so take that as you will. However, let's be real, Colors DS is the best Rush game. The only thing it's missing is Blaze.
Marine was really the game’s comic relief, so she wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. Of course she’s a kid and can’t contain herself, as she goes adventuring with Sonic, Tails, and Blaze. Plus it’s all but stated that she’s bored just staying on Windmill Island and wanted to one day travel the world.

I did consider the idea of a Modern Mania (combining classic and Rush gameplay) in which Sonic, Blaze, Marine and Silver team up to repair the damage Eggman Nega causes after he harnesses the power of the Jewelled Scepter to reshape the multiverse in his image. It's not fully Rush, but at least it's something.

When I picked this game up as a kid I was excited because I loved the first Rush game. However it really threw me off by the Phantom Hourglass mechanics but I pushed threw as I just loved the stages and the music. Unfortunately I got to the last stage and for whatever reason kid me put it down I can't remember why. I still have my copy from Toy's R Us all the way back in 2007 maybe I should go back and finish it.
Honestly, I love Rush Adventure. The backgrounds for the levels to feel a bot more cartoony and realistic, but I also think that it feels a bit bigger than the original in terms of scope and size. All the islands have different themes that make each one feel unique, the music's more tropical island vibe really shines, and it's cool that to play as either Sonic or Blaze, you don't have to back out to the menu to restart or replay the same levels to progress two seperate stories. The Emerald races are challenging and a lot of fun, and even though Marine is annoying, she's likable enough that I didn't want to see anything bad happen to her. It's also nice that even though Sonic and Blaze are friends after the first game, they aren't always on the same page so there's still a bit of conflict between the two. I don't think it's better than the first game, but it feels a bit more unique when compared to Sonic Rush or Sonic Colors DS. Also, New Venture is a banger.
I’ve started replaying this game recently. The story was good (if a bit lighthearted and comical). Each character and their traits complimented one another, wished they did more with Marine, but we can save that for her next appearance. The levels were fun, vibrant, and unique: each boss perfectly complimented the levels they’re faced at (Ghost Rex in the jungle, Ghost Whale in the arctic, etc). As far as the theme of this game, We never had a Sonic game that involves sailing the 7 seas and it makes sense to use the 4 watercrafts to traverse the map (Wave Cyclone’s my favorite). As far as any down points - I do agree with you about replaying stages for materials, Sol Emeralds, and the Johnny races.
Funnily enough Marine is Actually referenced by blaze's Triumph dialogue in sonic colors DS Sonic asks how Marine is doing. Blaze responds getting into trouble as always.
Man, I'm upset that I didn't know this game existed years ago when I played Rush. I definitely would like to give this one a try, even though I think I'll still prefer the original overall. But how could I resist the chance to play as Blaze again and learn more about her world? Sign me up!
I got all of the emeralds before the upgrades to waterbike. I never knew there were upgrades because I was trying to get all of the emeralds before the final fight. I am a Sonic prophet.
The thing with this game is that it encourages replay value. Even if I didn’t have to play those levels again, I probably would’ve ended up replaying those levels anyways.
Hey garroulus in both games you can press r when u jump for an air dash and if a enemy is soooo close then you can do a homing attack both are kinda useful
I agree that Blaze is the counterpart to Sonic, but hear me out here: She’s the combination of Sonic and Knuckles. The speed and clothes of Sonic and the role of Emerald Guardian from Knuckles. Also Blue plus Red equals Purple.
Tbh, if you actually bother to explore the sea map and find the hidden islands you can get materials without having to replay stages much if at all. I mean sure it’s not the most ideal thing, but it IS called rush ADVENTURE. Exploring the seas is a natural part of it...for this game anyways.
All Sonic knows is: Chillidogs, speed and W A R.

Unfortunately I got to the last stage and for whatever reason kid me put it down I can't remember why. I still have my copy from Toy's R Us all the way back in 2007 maybe I should go back and finish it.
Are you gonna do colors ds?
I didn't find Marine that annoying, nothing beyond good character development anyway. A shame because I would like to explore Blaze's world more.
10:40 to 11:00 has so much sass I'm surprised the ocean didn't turn to freshwater
Yessssss I've been working to 100% this game recently so it's good to see another review of this game cause there's so very little of them ❤
Good luck
The time trial missions are really difficult, and the hovercraft mission made me want to rip my face off so I'd never see it again.
Crazy part is I had no idea Rush Adventure existed until 6 years after its release
Part of me is just glad you didn't RUSH out this video so that we could experience your take on this ADVENTURE in it's best light
I thought the sailing section is the Special Stage on Crack in this game. Return back after failed to sail to destinations needed still suck though.
Please hold off SA3 for a bit longer, we're not ready to see our pure robot boy return yet (This is a joke people)
I literally just finished that game, and I broke the Big Swell fight on my first attempt
Will you review colour DS?
Yes
Amazing!
That's a good game and this is a good video
Cool!! 0:08
Ahh I love my sonic one peice
Where is Sonic Advance 3 review? I can't find it.
Not out yet.
Insert half life 3 joke but instead it’s sonic advance 3 video joke
Funnily enough Marine is Actually referenced by blaze's Triumph dialogue in sonic colors DS
Sonic asks how Marine is doing. Blaze responds getting into trouble as always.
Man, I'm upset that I didn't know this game existed years ago when I played Rush. I definitely would like to give this one a try, even though I think I'll still prefer the original overall. But how could I resist the chance to play as Blaze again and learn more about her world? Sign me up!
Sky Babylon And Blizzard Peaks are my fav Sonic Rush Adventure levels
I got all of the emeralds before the upgrades to waterbike. I never knew there were upgrades because I was trying to get all of the emeralds before the final fight. I am a Sonic prophet.
The thing with this game is that it encourages replay value. Even if I didn’t have to play those levels again, I probably would’ve ended up replaying those levels anyways.
Hey garroulus in both games you can press r when u jump for an air dash and if a enemy is soooo close then you can do a homing attack both are kinda useful
I'm gettin mad Dragon Ball vibes from the thumbnail
Fun fact this was my first sonic game
You are kinda right about the deminsions counter part part
I agree that Blaze is the counterpart to Sonic, but hear me out here: She’s the combination of Sonic and Knuckles. The speed and clothes of Sonic and the role of Emerald Guardian from Knuckles. Also Blue plus Red equals Purple.
Before i watch the Video, i absolutely think that this controls the best Out of the 3 games. Oh and also the music is bomb as always
3?
@@void1824 Rush, Rush Adventure and Colors DS.
The Last one counts because it plays pretty much the same
4. Generations 3DS too.
@@Garrulous64 Oh yeah right
Ah I see. But if we’re going by that logic shouldn’t Lo-
You could argue that they read kind balancing to be the job of the Jeweled Scepter
Tbh, if you actually bother to explore the sea map and find the hidden islands you can get materials without having to replay stages much if at all.
I mean sure it’s not the most ideal thing, but it IS called rush ADVENTURE. Exploring the seas is a natural part of it...for this game anyways.
You better credit me this time! ;)
(Can't wait until the Colours DS video)
Fun fact: Blaze is a fusion of Knuckles and Sonic
Qotd:Sky Babylon is my favorite level
Is it bad I'm still wondering what happened to Sonic advance 3 after we got Sonic battle and now we are in the Sonic Rush trilogy
My favorite handheld sonic game
