- This is a wonderful cartoon short from my childhood. Apparently, it was originally made in 1975 and based on the story by Oscar Wilde. This was recorded from television in the mid to late 1980's onto a VHS tape which then sat on a shelf for some 25 years, hence the quality. Enough for a trip down memory lane and educational purposes. It is Oscar Wilde after all. I hadn't been able to find this one anywhere online, whether for purchase or otherwise. I thought it would be enjoyed here despite the effect of the aging VHS tape.
the remarkable rocket, the remarkable rocket cartoon, david niven, oscar wilde, fairytale, fireworks fairytale.
Thank you so much for posting this...I have been trying to remember the name of this cartoon for at least 30 years

I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THIS AGAIN!! It's been here since 2012 and I'm only finding it now? We used to watch this every Christmas in grade school.
Yo I’ve been looking for this for decades! I saw it in El Salvador in the 80s
Idk if this was a cartoon or something but what I know is that it's helping me in english for my chapter
Wonderful video!!!!
Thanks for sharing🤗
Thanks for the upload! I've been longing to watch this film like forever! Sweet childhood memories. :)
I love how "The Remarkable Rocket" resembles Wilde!!!!
OMG, I cant believe I could find this, I am from El Salvador and I just had a blurry memory about this cartoon, I was just a child when I saw it. Thank you very much.
another much-loved animation from Reader's Digest. The sheer number of amusing accents in this show endears this to me, we used to imitate it when we were young. Memories.
Part of a 5 some of Readers Digest specials that usually aired at Christmas in Canada.. Along with "The Happy Prince", "The Selfish Giant", "The Little Mermaid", & the partially live action "the Christmas Messenger"
I have been trying to find this and the selfish giant cartoon for years!!! I had this on VHS and then it disappeared. I used to watch this all the time. I loved this as a child
Holy shit, I can’t believe I accidentally stumbled across this. I was trying to talk to my sisters about this but they didn’t know what I was talking about
I remember this on an old tape that was recorded from the Disney Channel.
That is amazing, but unfortunately not likely to see Christian movies anymore on secular channels and especially on the Disney Channel. As to how this even got on the Disney Channel is unknown to me, because I do not think that the Remarkable Rocket or the Selfish Giant has any affiliation with Disney and has more in common with Oscar Wilde's writings than Disney as well.
Thank you :D I remembered it very well once I found your upload from my young days hehe
is it a caracture of peter kaye?
Very nice video thank u
here's another film like this, same makers, but I don't know what it's called. had two poor kids in the snow in some village, can't remember what it was about. anyone know?
Maybe The Happy Prince, ( poor children in the snow) , or The Selfish Giant...sad little children....Giant in an everlasting winter......this guy knows all of them below......I remember them all the only one not to make you cry is The Christmas Messenger...

The remarkable rocket suppose to be Oscar Wilde face?
The face looks a lot more like Peter Kay
Robert Morley--who played Wilde in 1960. They changed the nose a bit.
