Yes, he is useless. I think he read some tutorial and then made video but has no idea what he is doing. For example to do those things he mentioned you don't need to enable developer options. It looks like you need to connect from another computer to your shield tv via adb to change the default launcher. But since he never showed that, that step is totally pointless. Also fk google for adding ads and nvidia for letting them do that.
@@SteveCanon453 I guess so, but if Apple would decide to do the same thing, you're pretty much out of luck. Here you can still change it with ADB. BTW: I searched more and eventually on the NVidia forum found response by an employee, and from it looks like they originally allowed to customize the launch app. Though apparently Google won't certify the device if that functionality is available, so they were forced to remove it. Fortunately adb approach is still possible, but it is not for everyone. Looks like Google deeply regretted that they allowed to change launch screen on phones and tablets, and on TV they decided to restrict it from the start.
Anyway to remove the unused black space at the top? Thanks. Edit: Never mind I figured it out you can move it to the bottom. Though I realized its better at the top. Thanks. Edit: I just added a wallpaper :-) I'm so happy.
The problem with ATV is when you try to exit an app you have to hit the back button several times and then choose exit. If you hit home to exit an app it takes you to shield home. That's a hassle.
I wonder if wolf launcher will work with Android 12 TV OS on a different box? I've done this on my shields, but hoping to replace them with some new Rockchip 3588 devices which are using Android 12 TV OS
You make no mention of what the home page looks like after a restart. It's a lot to install this. I don't want to do that if I have to "launch the launcher."
Is there any launcher that allows us to organise by individual TV shows rather than apps, the way the default home screen can, and opens the appropriate app at the appropriate show?
Kodi with fen and a real debrid account will replace all the streaming services and doubles as a launcher. Its high quality piracy. Thats why i even own a shield.

Why is my subtitles on netflix blurry, and just bad quality compared to native on tv where it is sharp and clean. (video quality is good, just subs are bad).
Ok so it doesn't replace the home screen , it's just another app that you have to launch on the home screen.... What we need is customisation of the home screen , not to launch a fake home screen from the original home screen ...
Sorry, but that is really a crappy homescreen. Most people just want the first row to be their 'continue watching' which has shows from every streaming service they have, and then the rows with most used apps etc.

I have the shield 9.1.1 with wolf launcher and when I try to set the home with launcher manager 1.1.8 it just throw errors.
So when ever I reboot my shield I have to relaunch the launcher ?

Just deleted all the launchers it crashed my nvidia shield. I can't get it to turn on anymore just a blank screen.

Because the Android TV interface on the shield is running on 1080p, video plays in 4k without problems it's just the interface that remains in 1080p.
