📖 ABSTRACT
This coffee aims to empower researchers with a basic insight of both Spanish Science Law and European Commission requirements regarding Open Science.
Covering essential topics such as Open Access to scientific publications, the coffee surfaces the complexities of Article 37 of the Spanish Science Law and elucidates the mandatory and recommended Open Access guidelines in Horizon Europe. Furthermore, it provides insights into the CC BY 4.0 licence and introduces tools like the Journal Checker Tool for journal eligibility assessment.
The seminar also explores alternative publishing venues like Open Research Europe and Diamond Magazines, emphasizing their advantages and evolution in scholarly communication. Additionally, it sheds light on transformative initiatives such as DORA and CoARA, signalling a paradigm shift in science evaluation processes.
🗣️ SPEAKER
Alberto Tena is a PhD in Engineering and Information Technologies from the University of Lleida, with the thesis “Automated Disease Detection by Machine Learning and Bio-Sound Analysis” under the guidance of Professors Francesc Solsona and Francisco Clarià. For more than 15 years, he has participated in the research team at CIMNE’s ICT Group, during this time he has presented more than 100 proposals and led the scientific and technical management of more than 25 RTD projects.
Transitioning into the CIMNE Projects Department in early 2023 and now as a member of the newly formed Proposal Development Team, Alberto has taken on a multifaceted role. He collaborates across various RTD Groups to enhance the scientific and technical aspects of project proposals but also exploring the impact of the Open Science policies at European, National and Regional levels. Alberto also serves as the Project Manager for the GECKO project (MSCA-DN), funded by the EC, a collaborative effort coordinated by CIMNE and led by Prof. Riccardo Rossi.
Additionally, Alberto collaborates with the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) as an associate lecturer.
