Just found your channel tonight. Love that you made this video. A year or so ago I bought the Joy and some iron on vinyl just so I could make quilt labels for my quilts. I wanted to iron on vinyl labels to my quilts or to a piece of fabric and sew that on. I have only got the machine out of the box. And so it sits. I'd love if you showed to do the vinyl label. You have such a good personable way of explaining and showing how to do this. Hope you see my comment. It looks like your original post was a year ago. Thank you
Great video, Ian. Can labels be made on fabric with the Cricut Xtra machine, assuming I manually cut out the label? I don’t have the Cricut Maker machine. Thank you! Bobbie
Thanks, Ian. I ordered the Cricut Xtra with the assumption I could make quilt labels on fabric, so I might end up returning it and ordering either the Maker or Maker 3, OR just selling it myself.
@@bobbieburrs2506 I just looked it up, very sorry for the wrong information. The Xtra DOES have infusible ink pens. I was thinking about the Venture. So sorry for the confusion. You can use the Xtra to write on paper with the infusible ink pens (don’t forget to mirror) and then apply it to fabric.
It all looks very simple, but I think the difficulty is finding the fabric as most high polyester has a bit of a stretch. I'm on the search, but if anyone finds a good fabric would you mind sharing.
Great question! Because infusible ink fuses into the fibers of the polyester, it does not wash out. In my experience, I have not seen any fading or washing out of the ink even through multiple washes.
Depends on the scope of projects you’re looking to do. If you’d like to use your Cricut to cut fabric I would go with the Maker. If you only want to use it for cutting card stock, vinyl, or infusible ink then I would go with the Explorer.
@@OffKilterCrafterIan thank you. found some broadcloth Joanns online that was mostly polyester. I appreciate your reply and your instructions. I'm also ordering the .4 pens as the 1.0 isn't crisp lines
Thank you! Thank you! Everything I needed to know without the "fluff". I love your style!
Glad it was helpful!

I’m in the process of moving, but once I get settled I’ll try and make a video on that.
@@OffKilterCrafterIan aww, that would be so appreciated. Good luck with your move. Hope you are doing well.
Great video very informative thanks for sharing
Awesome! So glad to hear it.
Thank you, I really have to give it a try. I have a different kind of circuit but I think it can still do that.
Awesome! I hope it works for you.
You have done another fabulous job ❤ love this one ☝️
Thank you! I wanted a quicker version for those who didn’t want to have to sit through a full live stream.
@@OffKilterCrafterIan love it lol now I have to find a friend with a cricket to make me some hahaha 🤣 you make it so easy
Great idea! Ty👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Glad you liked it!
Thank you Ian
Welcome!
And I learned the hard way you need to put butcher paper below you fabric and on top of the paper with the fusible ink……protect your surfaces!!!!
Yes, I have made that mistake as well.

I don’t think that machine has any infusible ink pens.

Thanks so much, for the good news about the pens. You’re the best! 👍

You are correct, they do have a bit of stretch. However, you could always use interfacing on the backside to help stabilize it.
Do you add stabilizer to the label before you attach it to the quilt? Do you hand stich the long side to the quilt?
I didn’t add stabilizer but you can. I don’t typically stitch the long side, I leave it as a pocket. However you can stitch it.
What type of butcher paper are u using? Walmart has pink, plastic coated or parchment. I've never bought it !! So help !
The roll I bought was from Amazon.
Couldn't you use a Cricut permanent pen to write on Cotton fabric on your matt?
I have found that the fabric will ripple and stretch, causing the text to become illegible.
Looks so easy watching but I use an iPad for cricut and the screen is completely different so I am lost as to how to do this.
There are lots of videos walking you through the iPad version of Design Space. Check out videos by Melody Lane.
How does I fusible ink react in the wash? I can do all this, just not sure if it would wash out when the quilt is washed.
Great question! Because infusible ink fuses into the fibers of the polyester, it does not wash out. In my experience, I have not seen any fading or washing out of the ink even through multiple washes.
I may have to try this then as I’m getting tired of writing on fabric. 👍🏻
I am totally new to cricut. Which machine would work best? Thanks!

where do you find polyester fabric?
I found some on Amazon but you might also be able to find it at Joanns.
