She also has weaknesses and got defeated more than once. And I liked the complexity, it created suspense for me becasue I really wanted to know how all the riddles get solved.
I mean, it's a pretty simple power set. Sonic burst (kill burst and stun burst are just different settings), gravity manipulation (this is also her flight power), nanite manipulation (combat form and her metal destroying breath). That's, like, 3 fairly simple powers. (I'm not counting robot strength, robots get that for free).

I have never seen this show before, but based on this video it looks more like she controls sound waves and vibrational frequency. I don't see how radiation would allow someone to make boulders hover in mid air, but maybe I'm just overthinking a fictional tv show.

I know i'm crazy, but i do really like her in the series. One of the most clever shows ive seen for many years, makes you think a lot about what human means for you.
Agreed - and faith, especially as towards the end of S1 Mother becomes almost more of a religious believer than the Mithraic on Kepler 22b. Luckily at the end she comes to her senses but for a few episodes she believes in the virus / fake Canpion Sturges “mission” to the same degree the Mithraic believe in Sol. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are the same entity.

I love how her form of the cross is juxtaposed against what we usually think of someone in that pose, a complete opposite of everything it embodies in a horrific way.

The end results for _anyone_ in Lucy's way as she escapes her imprisonment is pretty much the same as the guys trying unsuccessfully to gun down mother - they're torn to bloody ribbons and small chunks.

Why was this show cancelled ? I so miss it. One more season would have allowed the story to be completed, and the series to become a classic in television science-fiction.

It was cancelled because it is too esoteric for mainstream audiences. I was surprised we even got a 2nd season.
I will never ever as long as I live forgive them for canceling this show it was truly amazing and very different from anything I’ve ever seen!! Very underrated show and the intro song is majestic and beautiful like I’ve heard it in another life and it just grabs me swear this show was everything !!!
Mother was amazing. I've had some fun dreams about this show and what its continuity could have been. She didn't just have whatever power the plot called for. That's just writing, the hero always finds a solution to a new problem. The way necromancers were designed from ancient blueprints, those that recreated them have no idea what their original purpose was or what they are really capable of with that dark photon tech they run on. If she seems OP, that is by design. They are implied to be incredibly ancient weapons that have been recreated from plans within religious scriptures. We do not even get to know what they were originally made for. You aren't even suppose to be able to reprogram these things, but someone finds a way.
That sounds just like some arrogant wannabe-know-it-all "scientists" the Human Race has had, doesn't it?
Every new technology gets used for two things before it really gets to be useful to society: either it is some sort of sexual fetish to somebody or it has a military application. We figured out how to make Atomic Bombs and much worse, but don't even try to understand the multiple Cancers that came to be known after all that nuclear weapons testing that went on for almost fifty years...
Reverse-Engineering anything from a Non-Human culture or from a Human culture that died out so long ago so as to be thought of as 'alien' technology...that really sounds like something we would do. Without fully understanding it, we try to use it and then 'SURPRISE PIKACHU FACE' we don't like what happens...

I am so angry and sad at the same time, I think the canceling of this show, is criminally short sighted.
I wanted to see where it went but also it felt like they just kept throwing more weird stuff out there without explaining any of the previous weird stuff, and everyone kept flipping their allegiances back and forth so it was hard to take them seriously...
@@LeifWarner If you needed explaining to, you were not getting why most people were into it. It was a show with no training will and no safety net no track foring your direction. This was the high for me about it that kept activating that part of my brain that tried to figure out things. Most shows just put you in a numbing state and just feed you the narratives and then end conclude with pretty much the same formula story outlines that has been used again and again for several decades of TV's lifespan. Every new element in Raised by Wolves story put you on your toes, you were never bored and chemicals gushed into your brain as you tried to make sense of it. My little take on what was going on, more than one developed world had been suck into coming to Kepler 22b for a long long time, not just from earth. Why do you think there so many serpent skeletons all over the place . . .
I lobed this series. One of the better ones! I want more!

Honestly, her abilities and power is so inconsistent in the series; she goes from being able to have the crap beaten out of her by humans, to being borderline god mode, and apparently it only took a small army of the things to wipe out humanity.
Did the series even end yet? I honestly lost track of it and nobody was talking about it.

I believe that when you mentioned 'Sleep Induction', that the proper term you were after was 'Suggestion', as what she was doing was a clear example of editing a person's mental state to make them feel extreme fatigue.
