This album helped me get through my tour of Europe when I was in the Air Force. Mostly, I played it on my headphones or in my car, but once, when I was on a remote base with small barracks, I played it in my little room on my little tape recorder with a 4" speaker. There were no carpets and apparently the sound carried from my room. One guy said that it sounded like a concert in my room. THESE GUYS ROCKED!!!
Great short deep purple concert... the wild solo section in mandrake root is absolute fine, child in time legendary solo... richtie blackmore in his early days playing the freetboard up and down.. his fingers are fast, mention that nobody had this kind of feeling he had in those days. Lords classic distorted hommond underlines this pure and powerful heavy rock music. Drummer ian paice and roger glover the great rythm section of the group and than gillians good falsetto screams in between. This group from 1969- 1973 always were the best what they do.
Made In Japan was my first Deep Purple album when I was ten back in 1973! I went from Cat Stevens to Genesis Trespass to Black Sabbath Master Of Reality to Deep Purple Made In Japan!

Apparently the material from the original Deep Purple In Concert 1970 & 1972 double album has been reissued as two separate albums with restoration of the BBC host verbal introductions.
that's debatable. Their album "Deep Purple in Rock" was pretty much the blueprint for metal along with Sabbath's first albums, even if overall they were more of a hard rock band.
@@philmole1209 Ok it may have been a blueprint for metal but it wasn't considered that at the time. And if you think about it, it was the most hard rocking album they have ever done. The band have said that they have never considered their music to be heavy metal. Roger Glover once joked it was more like country & western than metal.
@@CB-xr1eg I don't really disagree with a lot of that. "In Rock" is an anomaly in their catalogue, and they never made an album again that as heavy as that one, although they had scattered heavy moments here and there. But what it was considered at the time isn't relevant - "metal" was a brand new term applied inconsistently when it was applied at all, and not even Sabbath thought they were creating metal in the beginning. And "In Rock" is arguably more consistently heavy than Sabbath's debut and has been name checked by scores of metal bands as a starting point. So while I agree that Purple weren't a metal band over the long haul, it also doesn't make sense to me to say they were "never heavy metal." For one album at least, they were.
This is how I prefer to think of Deep Purple MK2, not the elderly gentlemen who are limping around the globe now, without Ritchie and Jon. The period between 1970 and late 1975 (with Tommy playing like a god in Australia) was their best period by far. Nothing they've done in their reunion did justice to their reputation. Perfect Strangers was a good album, but they were always playing catch-up. Ritchie said they should have stopped after that tour. Slaves & Masters was really Rainbow reformed. Jon leaving should have spelled the end, but money was calling them. Gillan sounds just awful now. If they fired him and got Glenn on vocals they'd have vocals which at least matched their capabilities.
Totally agree. I do enjoy "Gypsy's Kiss" (from the reunion period) - there's a live performance of it on some RUclips video or other of a U.S.A. concert from 1985 - but, by and large, DP - from the reunion in 1984 to the present incarnation - only sporadically capture some of the magic from their early days - Gillan's voice has been on the slide for years - probably damaged his vocal chords with the highly entertaining - but totally ill-advised - screaming into the microphone (before he even gets into a song) - as can be heard on Made in Japan, for example !

Betul, tepat sekali 🎉🎉🎉

I honestly can't decide whether this is my favorite version of Wring that Neck or the 32 minute Live in Stockholm 1970 is. Both are amazing!
The best line up: Mk 2 🎵🎼🎶🎹🎤🎸😎👊

The ultimate hard/heavy rock band. But they were never heavy metal. That needs to be removed from your description.
Ok my friend, I follow your kind advice.
