100 % we need to learn more about How & Why our tools work , so we can fix them in a pinch . Ya you want it right the first time ... that is not how the world works ... Good Job !
My Gun Smith friend is retired , he did a few guns for me , I asked what is a full Combat Job , he would never say . I got a Near NIB 624 44 Sp , 4" looks just like a 44 mag Mountain gun , built the old way with good parts & no hill hole . He said I will check it out & clean it up , I was with him the whole time . That turned into a full Combat Job . I can't say all the things we did . In a nut shell after you change one part or add a shim .. then you need to go & refit the next part & the next part till your done . Polish & tune all the bits . About 4 hours , I thought it would be less than 2 . He would say .. well we got to do this , we got to do this too .. add ons . It was sweet & a little stiff at first , now it is tight & right .. very smooth action , well worth the time . I learned a lot , less than 1/2 of what he taught me . I did a 2 week school in 4 hrs like drinking out of a fire hose at times .
Burrs happen, coming from the machining center or if made of plastic. Maybe some of those parts are being printed now. Regardless, there should be someone building these like the Japanese build Arai helmets. A master builder, leaving nothing but functional perfection. Glad you have it all worked out.
since you understand the Steyr well I would like to know if you don't find the striker spring too strong? The striker tang on my S40 a1 tore off after dry firing it after cleaning it. I found the the trigger a bit rough probably because of the snaking spring and the sharp C- clip that holds the spring. Any thoughts?
I think I'd be a lot more concerned about the malfunction you had while shooting, when the round locked the barrel into the slide. That sounds a lot like malfunctions I was having with a CZ P10C. I would pull the trigger, the round would not go off, and when I tried to clear it, I could not budge the slide. It took some force and a wooden mallet to release the barrel from the slide. CZ told me the problem was that the chamber was cut to CIP spec, not SAAMI spec, so cartridges that were on the longer side would lock into the chamber and not come out. I sent it back to CZ, they lengthened the chamber, and I didn't have any malfunctions after that. Makes me wonder if Steyr is also cutting chambers to CIP spec.
My C9 A2 came out of the box with front and rear sights drifted left. POI was 3 inches left at 7 yards. My grip was correct. It did not inspire confidence. I put it in my sight tool and adjusted it properly. It was way off. It should have never left the factory this way. This, in conjunction with lack of aftermarket support, makes me disappointed with my purchase.
I hate to say it but you should try some drop tests with a laser trainer 9mm cartridge instead of a live bullet and see if you can get it to go off by dropping it. That would be my only concerns. I will have to learn a bit more before I am comfortable enough to do this fix for mine. I can feel the bur if I mess with the trigger.
Bro if you can help me figure out how to make the trigger reset more audible or tactile that would be awesome. That's my biggest problem with this pistol. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Great. An ever so slight QC issue. Thanks for sharing all of this.
Glad you had the issue resolved. Great that you put the information out there for Steyr owners.
Thanks for sharing this. Feel better about this firearm now.
Will be doing mine, thank you for sharing the info. 👍

Glad it was a simple fix. I like my m9a2, a little fat like it's owner but it shoots great.
Glad it was an easy fix, you probably got first shift on a Friday wanting to get out early
Love my C9…didn’t have any issues with that …
Good stuff
Good job
Odd question but would it be possible to take the Trap sights from the steyr and mount them on another handgun?

Well processed.
Little bit of Poly flash, it happens.

They rarely “zero” from the factory

Do you know how a drop saftey works?
cool

As much as I love these handguns if you're looking for a crisp reset you're just gonna have to buy something else it will never happen with this gun
Got it bro thanks for the response
How's the C9 A2 treating you? Are you still carrying it? Any issues since this update?
I wound up selling it. I feel steyr 🇺🇸 is slightly out of touch with consumers. Great pistol but totally unrepresented by the company
@@1776orbust Thank you for the reply. Pretty much helped me make up my mind.
