In India, if we have sunroof in our car, we can wisely use it to quickly evaporate the hot air if it happens to park the car in an open area on a sunny day. It really makes a difference. My brother is doing in our Honda City 4G for the past 5.5 years. This is the only benefit of having sunroof in a car I could find. It could have been better usage if Honda had given an one touch remote open for all the windows and sunroof together as like Honda Accord.

I have used sunroof car Honda CR-V in US. There the climate will be even in negative sometimes. Sun light will be challenge for us. That's when we keep the sunroof used without opening it. Even during summer, wind will be cold. On such conditions we used it.

Informative review!! But to be honest most owners are new to buying a car,they don't know the basics. Only an owner who knows about the basic mechanics or a passion will definitely maintain. Also most people think sunroof as a show off factor. So stupid and idiotic incidents happen. Risk factors like falling objects, dry tree branches, stone,coconut and other heavy objects on the sunroof will make things worse. May be okay for city users but for rural are a risky proposition. Better to buy a vehicle without sunroof.

If you don't want the option to open or close then there are some cars with only have glass on the top of called moonroof and if you don't want sunroof purchase a car without it
