Some aftermarket distributors don't have a pressed in gear like the original one, I've seen them installed 180° off which causes makes it impossible to adjust the timing with the distributor bolt in place, if that's a problem, you can just remove the spring pin that holds the gear and rotate it 180°. That will allow adjusting the timing in the range you have with the bolt slot.
I also think the timing is off, maybe the distributer was installed a tooth or 2 off. Finally going to get to go up there since it’s been many years since I was last up there, hopefully I’ll see you around.
@@NuttyNu I don't doubt it I just picked up my v6 and filled it with 89 Chevron with twchron and added Lucas fuel injector cleaner and it helped tons ... These injectors build up something and I clearly felt my injector releases it on the 101 south going 70 mph ... I was in cruise control cruising and felt a slight jerk and then after that the engine was purring

I think JDM motors a supposed to be low milage engines imported from Japan. I've seen some video where people say they have lots of problems with them. And others who had good luck.

The engine is timed wrong imo the timing belt needs to be knew in these JDM engines for warranty purposes.
But it's backed up one tooth

Yes that is my understanding as well.
You have to jump a couple pins in the fuse box to time that motor correctly….just look the process up.

Jdm engines are a huge gamble. I rather get a rebuilt engine by Yota1 performance.
