Hi Kirk, I have a stucco house, no weep screed, I believe with dash finish and a lot of flaking near the ground and cracks going up. I am planning on putting in a weep screed, patching everything, fixing small/large cracks, then painting the house. I want to make sure that after the new paint job the repair is not noticeable. I was thinking of putting 3 coats (scratch, brown, and finish) for the weep screed patch using Quikrete Fast Set. Would you recommend something else? Thanks in advance.
I'd recommend you pressure wash and simply caulk the cracks with Mor-flex caulking, this caulking has sand in it so that it blends in with most stucco finishes, By the way, my own home didn't have weep screeds as they were note code until 1975, We didn't start attaching them until about close to 1980, which means 80 percent of all stucco homes in the world also don't have weep or drip screeds. Save you cash and time for a real vacation.

It does say on the box that you can lay it 2 inches thick; although I don’t think I’ve ever done that… Also the premix stuff for the tile it’s not that bad if you’re doing it in a small area for a couple tiles that came loose or somewhere where there’s not a lot of traffic. Or a low wall like as a baseboard or something. It just takes longer to Cure/finish a lot longer
I’ve applied Eisenwall 2 inches thick in a video of resurfacing an exterior chimney and 6 inches on a foundation both videos are in our library of videos.
Hi Kirk, thanks a million for all your videos. I have a small patch -- round, probably 7 inches in diameter -- and several areas where previous skim coat is flaking off. Thought I'd try the Quikrete Stucco Patch. My question is, would I benefit from using a bonding agent and acrylic fortifier (such as the Sika product sold at Home Depot) instead of the water? Thanks again.
Howdy Tetonman dude, yes, then I'd recommend a ten-pound box of Rapid set stucco, you just add water. Don't overmix, only about three to five minutes. This Rapid set stucco has heavy sand. You want smaller grain sand, buy Greencor USA pre-blended scratch, and brown finish. Someone gave me a box of rapidset mortar. My porch has a crack 2 or 3 inches up horizontally all along the stucco wall which is right above the cement porch. The stucco has a rough float finish. Can I use the rapid set mortar as is or should I add some sand?
Some of this crack has 3" chunks missing too about 5" long by 3" tall. I've watched many of your videos and bought all of your products you talked about. Sikaflex 1a, mor-flexx, quickcrete bonding adhesive, and rapidset mortar mix. I inherited the trowels and equipment. I was all exited about filling a crack with the mor-flex the other day but it sank a little and the finish is a finer than my original stucco finish (1969). Thank you so much for all these videos. I just still lack some of the confidence I need.
So do I need to use a bonding agent with the rapid set ‘stucco patch’?Going over a painted surface?I always assumed that if the paint was a flat sheen finish this was not needed.I would think however a bonder would be needed if say the paint were a semi gloss or something similar. Your thoughts.

Speaking of small jobs, Kirk and Jay, while fishing a wire to add a bathroom outlet, I came across some damaged plaster. Someone tried to drill from the attic into the wall cavity, but didn't go straight and bored an 1.5 inch hole in the wall. The patch was spackle over a balled up paper towel. How do I do it right? Can I just fill the hole with structolite base coat and forgo the plasterboard? Do you guys ever do small patch jobs?

Kirk I'm from the UK and love your video's, Does using Galvanised stop beads compromise the stability? Are cracks more likely? Reason being Is I'm learning and was thinking of partitioning a wall to make it more manageable for my skill level?
Pete Holder Hi Pete from the UK, thank you and good question brother, I believe you are referring to installing an expansion joint. These expansion screeds or joints, same thing different name. Tip, when considering where to place a screed make it also decorative and cool loking say like above and below a center widow. Usually go from top to bottom or the entire length for any horizontals. I prefer to place them over wire myself so your expansion joints will need to be 1/2 thick as the wire already adds an additional 1/4 inch, when stucco is applied your depth should be roughly 3/4 a little more or less is no big deal.
