Thank you, Patrik! Your playing is so fluid and full, it just keeps getting even better - wow -
I know Norman Blake has played it live in an Em position (with capo) - and these examples are visible in live footage. But on the Back Home in Sulphur Springs album, I could have sworn it was done from an Am position. I assumed he had dropped down all the strings 1/2 step to sing it in Ab. Can you comment on that? What do you think? There are a few places where I'd love to know how he's accomplishing the fast-sliding filler notes to end on the Ab note. Maybe I'll have to rework it all and go to the Em position. You have all of his licks down so well, and this is how I hear him do it in those clips. In any case, kudos to you for presenting... and teaching!... this.

yeah I've also been pulling my hair out trying to play along to the album version. I basically gave up but your half step down out of Am has given me new life!

I can't thank you enough for your time helping everyone learn. If I may ask, how the world do you break these songs down so fast? It would be superb if you could do a video of your process one of these days..I realize that might be kind of difficult to fully encapsulate, but any insights I believe would be appreciated by many.

@@Flatpicknation That's awesome! I can get some of it by listening, but not all the details yet. Perhaps with more practice I can develop some of your ability to hear. Anyhow, thanks again.

Hey Patrik! I've got a Yeti that I used to use for recording a podcast. I didn't realize it could record straight into an iPhone, but if I can figure out how to make that work I'll record a video this weekend of a bluegrass tune so you can get an idea of how it sounds. Let me know if that would be helpful, your videos are great and if I can return the favor in some small way I'd be happy to help.

@@Flatpicknation I looked into this, and it requires an adapter that I don't have. But I ordered one, and it will be here early next week. So hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday I'll have a video I can share.
