Mario maker levels are a mixed bag ofc but I'd argue hold run levels are incredibly sightreadable and take barely any skill at all (congrats you can hold the sprint button and jump) so I wouldn't call this level unfair at all
The fact that Mario can do this calmy and still be his signature self and shouting woohoo is something we should all aspire to be like in tough situations.

Mario’s actually pretty fearless. He might show a bit of shock, but he can handle almost anything you throw at him. Luigi would be freaking petrified though 😂
"This character is gonna die but if you do this level perfectly they'll live" is probably one of my (favorite tropes even if not all that common) because having that one perfect run and having it as a part of the story makes you really feel like the character doing the badass stunt, since in the game they do every level without dying. SO when a level makes you do it perfectly as fast as possible all the way through it's a pretty cool thing I think
Yeah I think I get that. Similar feeling when you *think* you're about to die in a stage in a video game but something comes in to save you. Be it a platform to break your fall or another player taking out an enemy before it kills you. It's a pretty dope feeling.
I remember that in the very last level of ZOMBI if you die, that's it bad ending, but even then they throw You like 50 zombies at once and is a pain in the ass

Sonic: Fleeing an exploding factory, no enemies left, only a pure test of speed deciding if he escapes. Mario: Fleeing from oncoming King Bills, with hoards of enemies trying to drag him down with them as he runs.
Because Sonic's enemies don't define him, while Mario's do. I can't name a single sonic enemy, but I could go on a whole list for a large amount of Mario enemies, so adding enemies into Mario's just makes sense, because the enemies define what Mario's strengths are.
Sonic's situation is less dangerous because he's very fast and can run away from explosions, while mario isn't fast as sonic and there are a lot of enemies.
I think if this was a real level they could make it more bearable by Bowser giving you an additional life after dying at the start of the level purely because he gets a kick out of seeing Mario run for his life.
And he's been running around his world and busting his skull on bricks since 1983, so he's basically the most fit person on earth. Oh, its also a video game where you eat size multiplying mushrooms and save princesses from a fire-breathing turtle as a plumber in red and blue. So yeah
I think a level like this where the cape feather is used would be pretty nice considering how fast that thing is and how careful you have to be while avoiding obstacles

Damn, even when while Mario is running for his life, he still ends up gaining another life instead of losing one when most players would've lost a few lives, this man is truly incredible

I had to resort to completing the level 4 times, first time with no coins to (finally) see the rest of the actual level, and the other times getting each coin individually And it still was hell
world 9? nah this is the EXTRA secret world 10 that nobody mentions, you can only unlock it by getting 100% game completion 10 times in a row without a single slip up, you'll start noticing differences around the 8th time, and then the 9th time the levels completely change and the final time a king bill will fly over head in each level somewhere at some point as foreshadowing of what's to come, upon gathering the final star coins and getting the notification that you've done everything the game has to offer for the 10th time that notification will immediately close out and a new one will come in it's place saying "just kidding!" and world 10 will appear on the map selection screen, and will be the only selectable map, this is a "no turning back" situation, you can unlock all the other maps again by defeating a secret final boss, however no one has ever made it to this secret final boss as the castle leading to it is impossible even for a tas to get through, and all 3 save files get corrupt to automatically load world 10 even after erasing and starting a new one, legends say upon defeating the true final boss world 10 will explode and all 9 levels from there will fall to each other world with a brand new challenge in each one, in destroyed and corrupt versions of the original first levels of each world
Name one other person who could outrun two extremely oversized rockets (because let’s be real, those aren’t bullets) while literally everything is trying to stop him
God! This looked stressful! This is the level of stress I feel playing practically all Sonic games because of the needed reaction speed I just can’t seem to develop.
I don’t have the needed reaction speed either. I compensate through repetition because my muscle memory is faster than my reaction. It’s the same when I’d practice piano, learning a song chord by chord, note by note, one measure at a time, instead of being good at sight-reading or improvising. At least computers sometimes slow when they get old, allowing people like you and I an accommodation.
Can we just come to appreciate how courageous but also how down bad Mario is? Hes courageous as fuck for travelling worlds, battling god-like enemies sometimes (but mostly bowser), *all* for Peach.
It depends, I think every mario depends on the person, Example, some.people speedrun, so that mario just wants to finish the journey fast, and other just do it for fun, then that mario is going through an adventure just for fun,

We almost never needed to use a power up before, but for *that* level we used a boatload of power-ups and lives to 3-star coin that level and didn’t feel guilty about it 😂
I had to resort to completing the level 4 times, first time with no coins to (finally) see the rest of the actual level, and the other times getting each coin individually
And it still was hell

world 9? nah this is the EXTRA secret world 10 that nobody mentions, you can only unlock it by getting 100% game completion 10 times in a row without a single slip up, you'll start noticing differences around the 8th time, and then the 9th time the levels completely change and the final time a king bill will fly over head in each level somewhere at some point as foreshadowing of what's to come, upon gathering the final star coins and getting the notification that you've done everything the game has to offer for the 10th time that notification will immediately close out and a new one will come in it's place saying "just kidding!" and world 10 will appear on the map selection screen, and will be the only selectable map, this is a "no turning back" situation, you can unlock all the other maps again by defeating a secret final boss, however no one has ever made it to this secret final boss as the castle leading to it is impossible even for a tas to get through, and all 3 save files get corrupt to automatically load world 10 even after erasing and starting a new one, legends say upon defeating the true final boss world 10 will explode and all 9 levels from there will fall to each other world with a brand new challenge in each one, in destroyed and corrupt versions of the original first levels of each world

God! This looked stressful! This is the level of stress I feel playing practically all Sonic games because of the needed reaction speed I just can’t seem to develop.
I don’t have the needed reaction speed either. I compensate through repetition because my muscle memory is faster than my reaction. It’s the same when I’d practice piano, learning a song chord by chord, note by note, one measure at a time, instead of being good at sight-reading or improvising.
At least computers sometimes slow when they get old, allowing people like you and I an accommodation.
