I have that double cone intake. I actually took it a bit further. I actually opened up my fake vents on the front of the car. I actually added a bigger throttle body with a tune. Cold air definitely gets to the motor. I have noticed improvement in throttle response, acceleration up high and low end grunt. The tires will easily break loose under full throttle now. It is down right dangerous sometimes but definitely faster and quicker than before. Motor Temperature is great. Everything seems to work just fine with my Daily driver 2001 Corvette. Oh and it has the old 4 speed automatic transmission everyone seems to hate. Works great for me. Stop on the throttle, the car kicks down the front end lifts up and your gone. I would like to put the Borla downpipe on next. I don't want headers because of heat and or a cat back because of noise. I like it quite. Just a slight rumble. Love your channel. Thanks for all your tips and advice. C5 nation!!!!!
This just means you have terrible tires on your car. A twin cone likely reduced the power output your car was getting from the stock intake. Upgrading or porting your TB will improve throttle response but doesn’t add power. The A4 is geared at 3.15 at best. If you are breaking the tires loose to points it’s dangerous you have old, or hard or both tires on your car. Which makes me assume they are dated run flats. Do yourself a huge favor and upgrade your rubbers.
@@gotmylk My Michelin pilot cup 2 tires work just fine. My improved numbers at the dragstrip tell me all I need to know. So I have no idea what your talking about.

Not sure where this guy gets his information. The Vararam absolutely does NOT cause your engine bay to get hotter. The fog light ducts are closed off on the coupe and vert to begin with. The Vararam ducts slide in where the ducts were already blocked off.
Thank you for making this video and the one detailing the installation of the Calloway intake. You were very thorough on both. I bought a 2000 C5 over the summer with a cat back Magna Flo system and a Vararam intake. I removed both and went back to OEM. The Vararam was installed by someone with a new screw gun and saber saw because it was butchered to hell and back. The Exhaust was installed properly but it was loud, for no good reason. When I sold the two I got enough money to recover the cost of the OEM exhaust and intake, plus enough to buy a complete set of very clean OEM wheels. I can appreciate how your car performs and how it sounds going through the gears, mine is an automatic and going through the gears will never turn any heads. I will say your decision to remove the Chinese cold air twin filter system and install the Calloway intake was an extremely good choice. It is well made and engineered to fit and “looks good under the hood”. I hope you made or will make another video on your car running hot, and how the Calloway system affected how the engine ran. I am in Worcester Mass and am currently doing the seat lumbar bag replacement and getting ready to install a dash cam. I am going on a loooong drive this coming summer (2024) and want these mods in the car. I have the big glass coupe in Light Pewter metallic. Love the car. Thanks again for the videos.
Straight piping does not decrease torque. Straight piping makes the engine flow better, and puts less strain on the engine which increases the Scavenging effect of the heads and increases horsepower and torque. This is why race cars have this setup...
@@phoenix21studios yeah, pretty much! I never understood the old fuds saying shit like "muh backpressure means power!!!1!1" its dumb, old, and many times disproven.
549.00 for MAYBE an additional 6 RWHP is horrible margins. Adding on the fact you need a tune to get real gains and even then by the time you do longtunes and x pipe with CAI and a tune your pushing 2k if not a little more for maybe 20HP you might as well just procharge it for an additional 4-5k
I just read an article that had a K&N intake listed as the top one for the C5, with an 18hp gain. They had Vararam at #2 with a 40hp gain which I find a little ridiculous, and this Callaway was #3.
Nice upgrade on the intake! Your next project should be replacing the oil pressure sending unit. 80 PSI? I don't think so. My stock C5 oil pressure went full scale. I installed an extension kit for the sensor so now I can change the sensor in minutes, not hours.
Just about any intake setup is better than the dual cone setup you replaced. BTW, when running the Vararam, IF the foglight housings block cool air from reaching the engine, then vast majority of C5s do that stock. Only the Z06 has open foglight housings. All base C5s have closed housings. Also, the Vararam is the only preferred setup by some of the top shops in the country, and the only one that doesnt injest hot air from the radiator when stopped. This is not just my opinion.....

I think you had a little bit of oil burning when you started the car. Not sure if it was normal with how cold it is, but looked like it was a hint of blue if anyone else wanted to back me up on it
For the higher running temp try a bottle of water wetter to your expansion tank . You may need to remove 10 oz or so and you may laugh at what I'm saying but it dropped my running temp 10 degrees.

Hey I see you’re driving with snow still on the sides of the road. I’m a fair weather driver 😂 But seriously, I’ve been told to keep the car off the road during winter conditions, because the brine and salt the DOP puts down on the roadways to reduce icy conditions and accidents wrecks havoc on the underbody of the car. Your thoughts on that? And BTW, your C5 sounds great with the pipes you have on it! Safe travels bro!!
I am sorry but that intake makes me say, "A fool and his money soon part." Isn't there a better option than that ugly thing? I won't be putting that on my 2001 Z06

YES. back pressure is related to pipe size, not muffler chambers. Its basically just a venturi effect for air.
