Thanks it really helped me.
I had the same problem with my dishwasher similar to yours.
It stopped in middle of washing and showed this error.
I opened that like you and found a toothpick there. In the internet they said i could because of failure in sensor or fuse. But its better to test this solution first.

The error is E8 F1 or F8 E1? I have F8 E1 error in my dishwasher
