Well, the new WLTOYS 104019 brushless 1:10th monster truck has arrived and now we get to see how WLTOYS have done in converting the 104009 into brushless! Is it worth your hard earned money?
EDIT: I just watched my video again. I know it seems like I am a bit off. Well on this day, I was not feeling great. But also I think I was a bit irritated at having to take a brand new car apart, just to review it. And that came over in the video. To be clear though. The brushed 104009 was a great car and I loved it. When I made it brushless, I loved it even more. So I am sure I am going to love this one. Just need to solve a few issues. Specifically I will be buying new tires for it as I think it is THOSE which are causing most of the issues. 😉 Or actually take the ones of my 104009 and try them on the 104019. I know they "should" be the same. But the new 104019 tires just seem so much more... Slippery....

More grippier tyres on the front, less grippier on the rear.....) Never tried it on 4wd🤔🙃
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Uhm.... 🤨🤨🤨 Me neither. I would say that it could surely create and imbalance between the front and rear making it unstable. Buuuuttt. Can't be any more unstable. 😂😁👌
@@JohnRobinsonRC I thought it may be like some sort of overgearing in the front or undergearing in the rear (in the crawler world), when the front wheels do more work making the rear ones to follow (to overcome our twich a little in case of this car)🤔😉🤫😅
John took my 10409 out and greased diffs and ran it monday "just under 2h job" as mistakes were made reversed front diff mistake..LOL..GROAN, seems the 10409 is 1.9kg in weight vs 1.62kg for younger brother 12402-A with aftermarket shocks and no battery in both..bit odd as metal arms are 120grams combined on 100409, "got a set on aliexpress year back for 12402-A" not sure where extra weight coming from..i would say it drives more smoothly and "suspension steering and brakes" more responsive "almost too smooth" LOL..New remote says 144001 inside battery compartment on sticker maybe different esc so could be that and are not cross compatible bind wise the 2 models..i like em both,still running diffs in and running gear on new one i think it will get a bit looser n faster as time goes on..is there any way to alter tuning/brakes in these things with brushed 550.?
My wltoys 104009 is a upgraded beast and it is so hard to control. I think its do to wheel base and center of gravity

Thanks for the kind comment. We all make mistakes and from my point of view, WLTOYS have no excuses now. If they ship the car with the same problem, then they really deserve to loose customers.

I've got one of these arriving in the next week so we will see if the diff issue has been fixed. I will be pulling it apart regardless to grease them.
Just got one today 10/28/23 and the diffs are definitely still too tight.

Would the original locked front diff (or a dragging/limited slip) help ? Might stop the 'micro' left right left right traction that unsettles the rear and gives these results. Sorry after all your pulling apart........!
Be interested to see what a gyro would do for it. Settled my lil' Ravage really well. One mod at a time to 'prove' what works etc.

I had the same issue with the 104001 diffs they would not spin freely. I then bought two more and they had the same issue.
Oh that's not good. Both of my 104001s were fine but it just goes to show the lack of WLToys quality control unfortunately. I understand they have to get these cars out quickly. But if they keep loosing customers because of faulty products, then eventually the brand will suffer badly.
Totally agree, hopefully they check over the cars in future before shipping them. Great vid though mate i should have started with saying that instead of being negative haha
Good video and rc car! The problem is the brake and tires on asphalt, but the car runs quite well! Greetings
I think you make a good point, the stability should be a non issue, it is a basher after all and will spend at least half it's life uoside down anyway.
Yeah thats for sure the thinking. If it was 99% stable on gravel then it wouldn't be fun at all. I got the 104009 up and running today and it's just as bonkers and just as fun so can't wait to record those two driving together. 😊✌️ Have a lovely evening and thanks for watching. 👍🏼
hahahaha wunderbar rolls John, being an owner of 3x 12402 and one 104009,yep that's they way they are FUNNNNNNN in a mad kinda way..12402-A,104009 and well 104019 "this one"..its about finding that limit before it rolls and that i'm still working on, drive em mostly on grass.. check and grease diffs and put oil shocks on 12402-A is a must. so far on original brushed 550 only broke 1x lower plastic control arm..got myself a surpass platnium 5200kv 3650 n 60 amp esc but watching this video hmmm i wonder John, my greed for speed has got better of me, ahh well if it makes me chuckle who cares LOL

Just spray some rubbing alcohol on the hot glue, it changes the chemical composition of the hot glue and it sort of falls apart and releases very easily.
Good idea but I did want the glue on the other connectors. Just wish they had thought it through a little first. 🤔🤔 Good info to know for the future though mate. Thanks. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hello, I just bought the wltoys 104018 model. Is there any part I need to lubricate? Should I do running-in for the battery? If I want to buy a second battery, what is the highest mah battery that is suitable?

Has anyone ever done a conversion on a RC car where the fan only comes on with the motor, because that is the only time it is really needed, isn't it?

Yes the more I think about it, it needs better tires. They just seem so slippery. The car has grip and power. Just hard to control... 🤔

I'm torn between the 104018 and a 124018 fo make races at the beach, make sand race tracks and race them. I don't think we need them to be incredibly fast but more realistic and more emotion on the races allow the. Driver to shine more than the rc car, which would you recommend?

Hiya. Yeah due to the area not being very suitable I was unable to do a proper check. On the box it states 62 kph (I suspect its faster) and that's 100%. So 70% will be 44 kph. 62 seems very low for brushless and 3s so I will for sure get up to the speed run area ASAP and test it. 😊👌

i like how this cheap brand cares about their reviews when they are bad, and try to solve the problem. The legendary 12428 is in its 4th version now because of troubles like stripped differentials. When you tell traxxas a problem like this, they whould only say: " its not a problem, its a feature! "
Yeah it's weird how manufacturers deal with problems and issues. I assume Traxxas sell volume so don't care. I personally would be more worried that bad reviews could truly effect sales but I guess they aren't. 😯
This or the flyhal fc610 at around 1p00euro and turn it to brushless?the fc610 has a third differential which something i really appreciate on a monster truck...
What is your opinion?
Hiya and thanks for the information. I haven't seen the FC610 but just googled it. Doesn't seem to have a 3rd differential though. Looks like pinion into spur gear. But even so, price wise. It seems similar to this car in design but without having one. It's hard for me to comment i am afraid. I'll try and get one to review though. 😊👌 Thanks again for the tip!

I am a fan of WLtoys before….until I learned about MJX, HBX etc… so much more reliable and well made than all of these problematic WLTOYS made RC All have FREE instant issue out of the box 😜
Ha ha! No no. You misunderstood. Wltoys teaches people how to repair rc cars. So when they move into MJX and HBX they are well training in ANYTHING rc issues. 😁😁😁👍🏼

Yes I have to agree. It seems that you could slowly accelerate up to 20% and then all the power came at one. A bit frustrating.... Still fun though.
