Great video! I’ve had my Supreme for over two years now and it’s the best saxophone on the market! The tuning, response and sound are unmatched.

Hi Dan I can hear that you have spent some time playing that Selmer Supreme alto sax. You sound really amazing on it!!

I have a suprème Alto, and really love the instrument. I have found out if i drop a cork from a wine bottle in the bell. The respons of the lower notes improves. You should try it. It is a small difference but you should notice it. Grtz

It brings out the Benny Carter in you! Sounds really good! On the soul stuff-It for sure has that "sweet soul" sound that I really dig.

Thanks Dan, I do think there is something in the new neck tenon, heard it on the tenor. Perhaps not the alto as it has the additional C sharp venting. Might be worth a heavy mass screw.

Thank you for including my comment in your vlog. I guess I 😊should explain my feeling on the matter, My ref 54 to me feels, sounds and plays like a late Mark VI alto, except it doesn't as much un-eveness in the tone or the intonation issues that come with a MK VI. I am blessed to have been able to play a lot of Supremes as part of my job and every time I come away with "man this is great horn" and then I pick up my ref 54 alto then go back and forth and there is just more (not a lot more but more) creaminess or "Selmer tone" that works well for my sound. I'm a bright Alto player in the vein of Sanborn, Albright, Mindi Abair etc. and for me the ref 54 holds that Selmer sound even when things get frantic and screamy. The Supreme can do all that I'd want and I'd be thrilled to own one but it just doesn't do as much as the ref 54 alto at least not on a rock or funk gig.

@@JosephSalinas-r4r unfortunately no, about 6 months ago I traded it for a Mark VI but It came down to I just liked that Mark VI better. I was lucky enough to try 30 plus altos at PM woodwind and there were only 1 Mark VI I liked better than the Ref 54 and had it not been a straight up trade I would’ve been happy to keep the Ref 54.
