I think what all the questions below are asking about draining the battery are missing is there's a setting for motion detection, 24-HR Auto parking mode: motion detection and G-sensor and Parking Mode G-sensor, which it only turns on when bumped/activated, and is not constantly drawing power 👍
I'm seriously considering this. However, my vehicle has a powered on 24/7 receptacle. I simply power the dash cams down I have now and then unplug them when I return home. Using that receptacle instead of a ignition on only Receptacle allows me to have the dash cams on when I'm parked. I would imagine this dashcam would not need to be hardwired if a constant powered receptacle is used.
Id want a good dashcam that has easy download videos, and especially parking detection. But hardwiring to my battery seems like a good way to wake up to a dead car lol
The Ring car cam that I have been using is actually pretty good in parking mode... It didn't turn off even 7 days that I haven't started my truck. It was still monitoring and my truck started fine. It just uses vibration sensor.
Does the cable that was used to connect to the rear view mirror included with the camera, or is it purchased separately? If so, can you provide a part #?
Pretty cool. I probably just have a normal mirror in my car that does not include power. I saw one the other day that I guess is made for certain cars so more like it is part of the design of the car. It plugs into the mirror area as well but you would not know you had a camera.
GREAT REVIEW! I have one of these, when I start my truck it say format the card. Then I have to scroll down in the menu 2 times and press Enter and then it say Video Mode and then I have to push the Enter button again then it says Video Recording starting. Is this the way it is supposed to be or what am I doing wrong?
Your review was really impressive. After seeing it, I immediately ordered the Rove R2-4K Pro dash cam while it was on sale for Amazon Prime. I plan to install it on my rearview mirror, but unfortunately, I can't find a Dongar adapter that is compatible with my 2023 Altima SR. Do you have any suggestions for compatible adapter options for my car? I am not skilled enough to hard wire it, so if I can't connect it to my rearview mirror, I will need to return it. Your help in this matter is very much appreciated. Thanks🥰
Great video, you are so detailed with the information, thank you so much. Question. I have a Nissan Xterra and one of my connectors is always on, meaning I don't have to have the car on for it to give power, can I use that instead or do I need the adaptor?
I am a senior, a little slow. Do I have you unplug this from my 2006 Toyota Tacoma after each use? Will it drain my battery when I turn off engine? Thanks, this is the one I bought.
Higher frame rate recording is better if the license plate you are trying to read is in motion. If you are sitting still, higher resolution will have a more clear picture.
My 2023 Accord Touring has 2 usb 3 ports that are closer to the dash tan the 12 adapter. Can I use one of these ports to power the Rove dash cam? The cheapest quote I got to hardwire the cable is $200, which seems excessive. Thanks for your review.
I went with the Rove R2-4K Pro. So far I like it, easy to use, many features. Just have to read the manual and use it awhile. Plus it's a bit cheaper and great for a first time dash cam....
I just bought the Rove R2-4K PRO and the Dongar adapter based on your video. The problem is that in my 2022 Kia Telluride the rear view mirror stays powered all the time. I don't want to have to manually power-off and power-on the Rove R2-4K PRO every time I start the car. I don't think the Dongar power adapter will work for my car, right?
I'm not sure why your Kia needs to have the rear view mirror powered all the time and drain your battery but if it is, then you are better off with the traditional power cable option.
@@LifeHackster The mirror is powered all the time so that the Home Link buttons work. This allows you to raise and lower the garage door on the house even when the car is "off". Do the Home Link buttons work in your F150 when the car is "off"?
True. But I learned a hard lesson a while back...and this is one reason I have this channel. Someone backed up on me at Walgreens (Police didn't get involved because it was private property). Walgreens didn't also have cameras outside. I got with the guy's insurance but they will not start the process until they talked to the guy to agree or disagree with the claim...and this guy didn't talk to them until 3 months later..the guy didn't disagree with the claim but he delayed it to give me grief..and a footage showing that he is at fault could have expedite the process.
@@LifeHackster Maybe without the other guys insurance just hit and run it would have been faster, but yeah you are supposed to get the other guys insurance, I had it happen to me that I got the other guys license but not insurance when he hit me in a drive through and they went ahead and paid it even though the other guy never gave the insurance after my insurance contacted them, they just did it as an uninsured motorist and maybe they handled it separately with the other guy, I guess it depends on your insurance company and policy.
Although I don't have this dashcam I have four that have the identical suction-cup mounting system. I find this suction cup mounting system to be quite good. Anyway, mine rotate easily.
This is a very detailed and well reviewed video. Thank you for even comparing other alternatives and their respective pros & cons.

Had NO CLUE you could power these via rear view!! 😱
They don’t. Only with a dongar harness, which can power anything that’s any type of USB

How do you add that?
Great video and review. I have a Rogue and dont see that Donger Technologies has a fit. Can you help?

Not worth the upgrade...just keep using the old one. Thanks for watching!
Is there a way we can change the filter or something to see better in the dark?
Can you just use the dash camera without a wire? Does it have a rechargeable batter?
under 100 which is the best camera? without battery

No, you don’t have to unplug it. It should only turn ON when you start up your car and turns off when turn off the key.
@@LifeHackster Thank you! I appreciate you for taking the time to make a video and answer my question.
did it give you any system issues? i'm considering this but i've read a review on amazon where the dongar technology messed up their car system
I have it installed in 2 of our cars, no issues.

Excellent review. Thank you.
DONGAR is a great alternative. But they DO NOT make adapters for too many model cars.

Can you add a cab camera? Or rear camera?
Not with this model. Rove sells the R3 which is a 3 channel dashcam.
Thanks for an honest review!
Is the tv out port for a rear view camera?

Will these work if you have a dash cam with Parkingmode? Will it always have power or only when vehicle is on?
No, it will only work when the car is turned ON. You have to hardwire the dashcam to have it work in parking mode.

Yes. High Endurance cards.
