- A controversial tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks by the Budweiser Clydesdales and Zack Snyder, who would years later vaporize a section of New York and send Superman crashing into buildings on purpose. This commercial only aired once at the Super Bowl, with a digitally modernized version released in 2011. A Believe Media production.
I remember when they closed that bridge to film this, very early in the morning. I love this ad, always makes me cry. I miss the 26 friends I lost and my 5 clients every day. It was terrible watching the towers attacked on 9/11 right in front of me, not on TV, it was real life. I hope I do my best to keep my friends laughing in heaven; I live each day for you!
so sorry for all the loss
my cousin worked in the north tower, floor 23 I think it was. He got out, but had friends there who didn't. He won't ever talk about that day, and we don't press him about it.
I have never understood the video posting caption wording, "controversial" tribute.
Now America is a disgusting, divisive mess, all thanks to wokeness and idiot politicians pushing said wokeness.
It's unfortunate that the simple Americans believe it was a terrorist attack.....I feel sorry for the sheep!!!!
I watch this every year on 9/11. Today is 9/11/2024. This is a very emotional and beautiful tribute. Goosebumps and tears always accompany viewing this. We all remember that day so vividly. I have medically trained relatives who rushed to the scene to aid survivors. They treated first responders and then they waited and waited and waited. NEVER FORGET ! Thank you BUDWEISER.
This commercial still gives me chills, even today. 19 years later after the attack, I still remember.
Well 18 Septembers later, this one still gets to me. We said we would never forget. Well, we didn't. Please do your best to never let this country forget what happened that day. #FDNY343
makes me cry-every time i see it. Love the Clydesdale-what magnificent horses they are-and perfect for this ad-tribute!
This is well done, elegant and tasteful. Nothing controversial. On a side note, I have had the honor of being inches away from a Budweiser Clydesdale Team, they are magnificent gorgeous horses who take your breath away.
Maybe they could remaster this in 2026 for that year's superbowl, to accommodate both the 250th anniversary of our country and the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The only noticeable difference is that One World Trade Center, otherwise known as the Freedom Tower, would be digitally added. The tagline would say "This year, let freedom ring."
You called it.
They already did a remake of this ad. This was the 1st one aired in 2002 for super bowl 36 & the remake was released in 2011 for the 10 year anniversary (you can tell the remake by the Freedom Tower being constructed in the New York skyline as well as liberty island not being covered in snow like the original)
This is a good idea. Especially with what's been happening in our country.
Class, pure class Never forget.
The best Super Bowl commercial ever. I still tear up when I watch it.
I cry every time I watch this. I am 63, and I Love my Country . God Bless those who all perished on that dreadful day. God Bless all of those 1st responders, and those who gave their all to rescue, and save Lives. God Bless the USA ♥
thank you for your service
I love this ad. It holds your attention and doesn’t reveal its message right away. At the start, the big tell is the somber tone of the music and the lack of an announcer. The shots of the Clydesdales pull you in, and as you see the Brooklyn Bridge, the message begins to unfurl. Then, the music comes to a glorious close as the horses bow to the Twin Tower-less skyline with the Statue of Liberty standing guard over New York in the distance. Really makes you think back to that certain bright September morning. Pure marketing genius.
After just weeks away from it being the 20th year after the attack, I still cry when I see this commercial.
crazy thing is, it still feels more recent to me than 20 years
What's controversial? The...the horses?
Idk but this is a beautiful piece by one of my all time favorite directors; Zack Snyder.
God bless.
🙏🏼
i agree! It is well done, beautiful and tasteful. Nothing controversial. On a side note, I have had the honor of being inches away from a Budweiser Clydesdale Team, they are magnificent gorgeous horses who take your breath away.
@@Robin-xt7yo wow. That is amazing. ❤
Believe it or not, Zack Snyder directed this commercial.
Yep that is for sure a shocker considering the trajectory of his career
@captainjakemerica4579 Well, at least Zack snyder is a somebody while you're a nobody.
Greatest super bowl commercial ever!
I tear up everytime I watch this commercial. Not only does this commercial represent the love & admiration that our country deserves after the 9-1-1 terrorist attacks, but it is also my absolute love for horses. Watching this video gives me goosebumps all over my body but, deep down, in the quiet moments, to me, this is everything what America stands for....
@@xyzlmno4631 .....Ummm..no.
@@xyzlmno4631 .. you have no idea what I have had to go through to get this far in my life. Nothing is a pipe-dream to me. I have worked my ass off to get where I am at today. Regardless of what you may think of my opinion, it is mine alone. Sorry if you don't like it
@@Michellethompson5231 Understand. No country is more patriotic than the USA and I believe the Budweiser Clydesdales symbolise that love for your country. The powerful show of Respect from these magnificent creatures at the end brings me to tears. From Australia 🇦🇺
The BEST of the best! Thank you. God bless.
Sad, and powerful
Man still watching this and it makes me so proud to be American. All of us 🇺🇸
Agreed! ♥️🇺🇸 respect for Budweiser!
One of the best ads ever created. It’s both elegant and simple.
A bow in respect to the thousands of lives lost at The World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001 …. We will NEVER FORGET.

This small segment was the Very Best Thing that I ever saw! I was uptown from the towers on that morning. It would have been great if they extended it a bit more to show thos magnificent horses going through America and the peoples reactions; showing this country mourning.
What the hell is controversial about a moment of reverence for all the people that died or lost loved ones 9/11/2001? This commercial shows respect for the values this country once stood for. The Statue of Liberty was the first symbol of freedom that my ancestors saw after leaving Italy bound for America.
Holy shit Zack Snyder directed this??
For people who don’t get it - It’s a tribute to all the ones who were lost on 9/11
Just so weird that those horses would choose to pray to Mecca during this commercial. I’m all for freedom, but bad timing man.
This made someone's uncle so mad they have to go out to the backyard for a bit to calm down.
Still gets me everytime crying
Thank you for your service
The best Superbowl commercial. Still gets me at the core.
It doesn’t matter how many times I view this….I always cry. ♥️
🙏🏻
Same here.
That was the day I fell in love with the Budweiser Clydesdales they know when it's appropriate to take a bow. That is the most heartfelt advertisement I've ever seen in my life to this day! Budweiser must have the most magnificent trainers in the world for the smartest horses in the world
Those horses are praying to Mecca.
Didn’t understand the controversial part either. Some goofball must have posted because the most stirring part at end was cut.
So it wasn't Metropolis that got attacked, it was New York according to the description. Good Job
KaMoa they are taking abt Watchmen
i think the reason why people thought this was controversial, was because it was either too early, or it was aired during a super bowl and not right afterwards. people don't understand the amount of work that used to go into these commercials. its not like now where you can videotape the clydesdales running, and digitally edit it well enough so it looks like it this, which you can do so now, 20 years later. hollywood was still doing a lot of stuff the old fashioned way, besides the animation studios, and wasn't till a few years after this commercial aired they actually started getting a good idea of what the actual fuck digital shit was. theres a lot of series now in days that would be impossible to do in 2002, even more so since the cost would've been too great to do.
Who the hell disliked this?!?!
Terrorists and terrorist sympathizers, probably...
Never more has the patriotism of a company meant more to me then now
this commercial meant so much to me that every time i see a horse i think of 9/11 and start crying again. Miss you grandpa i wish you were on a different plane
So happy they made an updated version for the 20th anniversary ❤️❤️ #NeverForget
I'll always remember this Superbowl commercial. It made me cry.
Budweiser thank you for remembering 🌹
A very classy and respectful tribute
Beautiful commercial. Anybody that can watch that without tears has no heart or soul. God bless the families of the victims of 911. Worst day I have ever witnessed in American history.
Who ever banned this commercial must not be a true American.
Please bring this back.
Well it was only aired once to show that they mourned the people who died in 9/11, so they aired it once to prove that they didn't want make money off of it but simply pay their respects. It was a tribute and was not hated by most people. Just letting you know.
no one banned it ...
Simple yet very tasteful and very memorable
Those horses are praying to Mecca!
Still brings a tear to my eye
This one gets me every time. The greatest ever made.
I love this ad. as much as I love it though it always makes me cry. Always remember
The viewers that gave this video a thumbs down hate horses, America, and men looking through windows..
Perhaps they were disliking the event that inspired this commercial.
Best Super Bowl commercial ever
Beautiful and extremely moving. Nothing "controversial" about it.
19 years ago today September 11 2020
Not sure why this was considered controversial. It was phenomenal.
Because people claimed Budweiser were trying to make money off the tragedy
@@anthonyiuculano6002 yeah and so did lots of other companies its capitalism. But how many Budweiser logoswere slapped on this commercial. none this was a rare genuine moment from a corporation this commercial was beloved.
Because those horse are praying to Mecca
Only one thing would’ve made this commercial even better, the towers standing tall
those horses are praying to mecca
Thank you.
There is nothing "controversial" about this video. Was beautifully done.
Wow had never seen this one. Blew me away
I’ll keep watching this one over and over I love it so much they are absolutely gorgeous
at some point in the 80's someone at Budweiser got smart, and started making commercials focused solely on their horses, and that was a pure stroke of genius, because this was such a great homage to what happened just a few months prior.
There is NOTHING controversial about this add. Have met and been privileged to pet the Budweiser Clydesdales I can tell you they are gorgeous animals.
Not me crying in the parking lot of work watching this 😭
Never forget 💔
Can we have something like this, for August 31, 2021??
Snyder is goat
Prayers and Blessings to the fallen...+++
It is quite baffling that Zack Snyder directed this commercial. Dude went from this to directing Man of Steel.
What's so controversial about it? I thought it was tastefully done and only aired once not to use it for financial gain.
Why was it controversial, an interesting ?
Directed by Zack Snyder
pretty impressive zack snyder got the clydesdales to kneel in the direction of mecca to pray
What the Christ is with your description dude?
Why are the horses praying to Mecca
how far we have fallen since that day and this kind of commercial ....makes me cry to think whaat this country has become and one party is to blame along with establishment RINOs
it still gets me
Happy Super Bowl Sunday.
The Clydesdales are an American institution. Budweiser is this the same. 🇺🇲
K seen this bueatiful tribut from the horses what an honor
How is this "controversial?"
It gets me every time!
They are praying to mecca
Our Beloved Country before the red and blue lines were drawn in the dust
Why and who is anyone labeling this as controversial?
"who would years later vaporize a section of New York and send Superman crashing into buildings on purpose."
What, as opposed to all those other directors who film scenes by accident? LOL! Way to shoehorn your cinematic editorializing in there, like he's supposed to be ashamed of it or something.
Yeah, he's an idiot, sounds like a jealous hater
They edited the sky. Sky didn't look like that in 2002.
Beautiful then. Beautiful now.
November 2023 I was so sad to see Budweiser go woke and I miss the good old days
Why controversial ? Nothing controversial here.
This is amazing
Our unit launched soon after 9/11/01 we were down range and some how I saw this commercial during Superbowl during a chance break. It shocked us all. Absolutely no one in the room had any questions as to why we were there. I remember thinking let us off the chain turn us the fuck loose. As an E-8 myself and those around me just wanted to be set loose. Diplomacy and happy fun times we couldn't give a crap. Let us off the leash we were not there to build schools and dig wells. To this day I miss the guys. I think about all of you each and every day. Always remember that me and mine have a place around our fire each and every day for all of you. Alpha 23. Thrust my girls are so missing your girls. Funny how we only had girls. But I love it. My girls asked the other day if your girls are still stitching with Glock 23's? LoL. My 5'' 3'' girls are still running tuned kimbers from our favorite retired armor. In 1911 45 acp. But he also turned them on to rehabbed detonic compacts. Outa time. I'm out. Next week.
Profound
❤❤❤
Drinking a 40 oz of this great tasting beer 😋 while watching this
NEVER 4-GET!!!!!!!
Choke.....
What happened to your company? Traitors.
why would you direct this lmao
From honor and respect to woke infect
On my page!!
I thought this was from 2011
Controversial?? No. There wasn't a damned thing "controversial" about it.
That's how you take a knee with class.
