- These are a collection of clips from Thief and the Cobbler, mainly the Thief’s monologue I recorded on my phone, this movie is a gem, and everyone should hear what the Thief has to say.
So sorry if the quality isn’t perfect, but regardless, enjoy... 😊 Развлечения

“It’s always good to wear underwear when you’re up this high. Otherwise, you attract a sizable crowd!”
Best line
7:17
"Man, who decorated this place?!"
While I would've been fine with the thief remaining silent as the original creator intended, but that was a good line!
I agree who the hell decorated this Rube Goldberg
He honestly sounds like he's doing an abridged version of The Thief and the Cobbler and it's great
"What a dump. Nobody lives like this except college kids...."
Dude, do you even know what a college is?
He terrified me as a child but now that I’m older, he’s so hilarious!!!!
The thief's MOM is the part that makes me laugh
9:48
"Aawwww Yeaaa"
"Pains Goooone"
"Feellin' good, feelin' fiiiine"
Bro, the first line. I will be DEAD if I hear this again! 💀
I've never seen the re-cut of this film (never really wanted to), and I feel bad for the mess the original creator went through...but I'm SO glad these videos exist. I watched this movie SO many times as a kid, and the Thief's mumblings were the sole reason for that XD
right? so many ppl complain about his voice over but its funny af
You can thank the late Jonathan Winters for that.
I don't like that they gave Tack a voice in this version but I do love that they let us hear the thief's thoughts
Whether you like it or not, I thought it was actually understandable. Because nobody really could think what the thief is really thinking especially considering none of them are really making any lines in this movie. we see Yum Yum along with her father and of course zigzag but then again, Fido I like how he gets a voice in this one. Regardless, it was pretty well done. When you watch the other version where you don’t hear them talking narration and what any of them are going on in their head for you see that yeah there’s really nothing worth observing
The thief was the only reason I binged this movie all during my childhood 😂
This is form of The Theif and The Cobbler that I watched before. The only version I knew until RUclips showed me the ones where the theif was silent. It made me laugh so hard. I wish it was still available on Netflix.
I don’t understand why the recut version took away the Theif’s monolog it was Hilarious!! And really gave a comedic vibe to the whole movie
because in the original version he was silent and so was tack the cobbler
4:32 Thief: mom what are you doing here? Thief's Mom: what am I doing here what are you doing here?
I'm glad you put these videos on here dude. The Thief has always been my favorite character in this movie and love his funny thoughts.
Well I do have the VHS movie, and felt like it needed to be posted, to the best of my abilities... 😊
I agree he is also my favorite character
Me too!! So thankful for you posting this!
The thief carried that entire movie and I’ve been living for it😭
4:32 I’m sorry to say this, but this part made me laugh so hard.
The Polo scene is comedy gold
Oh hello ball.........BALL!!???😂😂😂
Oh hello ball. BALL?!?!?!?!?!
Duck and cover duck and cover, outta the way, bunny! 😂
He's stitching me up like a boot! Sorry, kid, but this boot was made for walking!
4:00 I can't help but question the color of this water. I'm gonna stink for days.
these clips r a fuckin core memory
The polo scene always gets me!
one day we'll have a 100% complete version... with and without the voices, but both using the full/complete original uncut animation.
This will always be a guilty pleasure of mine
4:32 the MOM part always kills me😅
While i feel like they could have spread it more tastefully, i love the silly depth the inner monologue gives the thief without steal from his outward expressiveness.
i always loved this character. even as a kid... kinda reminded me of Chandler from friends. pretty sure i based most of my personality on the thief XD
This sounds like it was recorded underwater.
Say what you want about this version, this is the one I grew up on and the Thief's lines are my favorite part.
0:47 og thief: wheeze J.W. Thief: *goofy sound effects*
The thing is that the jokes can actually be funny and Johnathan Winters does do a good performance, but the Thief works best as a silent character. Like Tom and Jerry or Wile Coyote, we understand everything from his personality, his wants and needs, and how he perceives the world through facial and physical expression. As such, many of his lines feel redundant as we already know what he wants or thinks so what go is it to hear his inner monologue explain what we already know.
Maybe, but I grew up watching this version as a kid, so it’s forever imprinted onto me as the original instead of an incomplete version 🤔
Right.
@@JacobCross17what version is it 😅
Thanks for uploading this; he was always my favorite part of the movie!
yes amazing his thoughts are so funny i swear XD
13:10 okay, okay, who’s got the camera?
I honestly like the movie better with the dialogue
I mean, some of these lines are actually decent, but not all of them are good. Originally, both Tack and the thief are completely silent, and the animation itself was supposed to be the whole source of the humor most of the time. If the redundant inner monologue was cut out, mostly just obvious statements like 'Oh there's something gold right now!' and all of the pop culture references like reading the Arabian paper, Disneyland, college kids, the thief's mother (from Boston...?), all of the lines that try WAY too hard to be funny, the rest of it is acceptable. But not Tack, throw all of his inner monologue away, do away with all but the intro narration, do away with the musical numbers, ease up on some of the cartoony sound effects (again, in moderation they're good), and finish all the unfinished scenes from the workprint, and you'd have something Richard Williams would probably be happy about, or at least something he wouldn't be utterly ashamed of.
But still, some of these lines are good. 'I gotta call into question the color of this water,' 'Soap...I've heard of it in storybooks and songs,' 'IT'S A DEVIL BALL!' and 'Rule number one: keep your eye on the wire and have feet like a monkey' gave me a chuckle.
Too bad this dialogue isn't in ReCobbled Cut Mark 4
I think the ReCobbled Cut versions's better.
i loved the thief's improvised inner monologue
You know, he could have gotten Dennis Miller to do the Thief since Jonathan Winters is dead now.
I just thought about a name for him Snatch
That's pretty good. 👍
If they made a song for him it should have been like 20s jazz or blue
7:10 Sike XD
What is this version called specifically? I can't find it.
They call this version 'Arabian Knight'.
I’m glad this video around the original one the cuted version suck they took out the all the fun sound effects.
this movie was intended to be richard Williams magnum opus it was basically eye candy not a Saturday morning cartoon so there was no need for any goofy sound effects
12:42 rule number 3: throw down the stick and run like hell
Nick Valentine and Plankton...
Anyone know what to search to find this version??? Only finding the uncut ones
They called this version Arabian Knight.
Rene Simon und
Is this from 1995? The musical one?
Hey could you say what version this is or put like a link I’m trying to get this movie as a gift
This version is called "Arabian Knight."
To be honest the only good thing in the miramax version.
Hmm. They ruined the character. Thief suppose to be whatever viewer thinks about him. He must be unique for everyone. But not in this version.
I hate this version of the movie. The thief is much funnier in the recobbled version
