@@wineaddict6625 There's a difference between buying a car and entirely giving it to the person, and leasing it under your own name and just letting them use it. Like if parents were to buy a car under their name for their child, the child doesn't necessarily own it until they give all ownership to the child. What these youtubers who give away cars lots of the time do is lease it under their name so that their friend can't just sell it off for money.

@@aash1305 The thing about leasing a car under your name and letting someone use the car is that it makes you the one legally responsible for the taxes and insurance, or the person you're leasing it from since leasing is like owning a house. You're not technically buying it, you're just paying to use it. So really the person he's giving it too has no obligation to pay taxes or insurance. That's looking too far into the animation though.

Leasing a car is paying to use it from whoever owns it, like renting a house or an apartment. It's different than buying them. Dylan would be responsible for making sure it's insured, and unless stated otherwise in the lease contract, the person/company who owns the cars would still be responsible for the taxes but that's taking the animation bit too seriously.

Holy shit I looked that guy up and wow, looks like a narcissist with how much his face is plastered in the thumbnail of each video. If he really does lease these things out to the people he gets them for, that's a real fucked way to give a gift as it either has to be returned or bought out straight by the person it was given too later on.
Personally if the guy leased it under his name, you could really piss him off by putting stupid amounts of mileage on it. Saw a guy with a pickup truck that had leased it for 3 years and with a max of like 10k miles a year was all he could put on it. Dude put like 150k on it in a year and owed them like 47k dollars, more than the truck was worth! Could just put that lambo up on some jack stands and run a few hundred bucks worth of gas through it to ramp the mileage up to insane amounts then make that asshole pay for it all.
If you're going to give a car to someone, buy the fucking thing outright and pay off a year of insurance for them, don't hand them leased bullshit!
Not sure if it would work in America and under these specific circumstances but in the UK you could just declare them as off the road until the lease is up and if you still them at that point (if Dylan pays for you to keep the cars) then you can just sell them then. Having paid next to zero insurance or tax.
Of course you would need a place to store millions of dollars worth of super cars without them being stolen and that would cost you but still. If you can do that then it would be a nice payday when you eventually sell them.
I don't know why this is one of my favorite videos from him.
The fact that his friend bought him multiple cars just so he can appreciate him for his generosity despite how he explains how completely impractical that is, and murders him for trying to be reasonable about it 😆
But was it reasonable? Yes, it will be looked at as additional income from a tax standpoint, but he could sell the cars, cover the taxes owed, and still come out tens of thousands of dollars ahead. Not wanting the cars because of "tax and insurance reasons" seems more short sighted and illogical than reasonable to me. p.s. Yes, I know this is just a fun satire cartoon and is not meant to be logically accurate with what is being portrayed. :)
