    As a new 2019 ZR2 owner I really enjoyed that interview with GM's engineer. Now all of those additional off road parts make sense, and are so well engineered as a complete system. I recently purchased the AEV bison transfer case skid, transmission skid and fuel tank skid from a local distributor so I'm covered up from the rocks here in AZ. In addition I added the 589 fab shock skids. I figured $150 is a great investment to save a $1,000+ shock. you have a great channel, I'm glad to have come across it.

      Thank you man. Seriously love the credit we get for showing people what this truck is capable of. We are guilty of not knowing also because of a lack of content. First got it as a chase truck to hopefully keep up with our raptor friends for recording while our raptor was getting built. The second it touched the dirt I could tell from the handling that chevy created something truly special.

    This is why corvette racing has been so vital to gm performance cars, they race them and learn from it then it trickles down into the production cars. Say what you will about the politics at the upper level of gm or the mismanagement in certain areas , the guys on the ground are true die hards that are pushing the envelope. Badass interview. Oh and to anyone at GM reading this, you better make a long travel off road GMC Sierra (not a lame AT4 lift kit) or I’m going to do donuts on your grass 😡

    @420 motors - absolutely loved this video. I've prayed and prayed for Chevrolet to get back in the dirt for years, and now its finally happened.... and I love what they've done with the ZR2. Although I'll probably never buy one, I long for something more...….but after watching this video, I realized it probably wasn't the time to ask for any future products like "larger DSSV shocks for the Silverado, long travel for the Silverado, ahh hell, a Silverado ZR2 Raptor class truck"....J/K!!. Truck broke in January, in March the replacement parts arrived but failed inspection, so they made a very generous offer and I accepted it and got my new 2019 on March 30th. Because I had my first problem under 3k miles even though I put 19k miles on the truck they didn't charge any usage fees. their offer was my entire down payment, plus all payments ever made on the truck were put towards a vehicle of my chosing, they didn't charge me any usage fees and 0% financing. I ended up owing less on this 2019 than I did on my 2018 and my monthly payment lowered 100 dollars a month

    I was wondering if you could do a pros and cons video of a gas vs diesel ZR2.
    A perspective of why you would choose one over the other.
    I also noticed that not all of the Chevrolet Performance Race Parts will equally fit both the gas and diesel,
    like the "Cross Car Beam System." So a break down of what fits and what doesn't fit a gas or diesel
    would be great, maybe in a different video. OH one last thing.....you vato's are doing an awesome job on this site.

    Did they address the need for a rear shock Skid? Seems like a big weak point with the lowest point of contact. I saw a rock hit my shock under shock mount during video editing, now I'm ordering DatinFab ZR2 shock skids to install! That is well over $1000 for the shock

      Why are they placed there and not closer to wheels?

    • @420motors

      A few different trivial reasons actually. Wheel clearance is one, a bit of chevy’s tradition also I suppose. But there is a benefit to having them there. More articulation per the much of travel

    Did they imply that the race leaf pack could be used with the stock DSSV shocks or do they need the heavier damping of the race shock? I’m trying to understand what the right upgrade path is for my use model which is mainly carrying a heavier overlanding load. I’m interested in the jounce shocks to but they sounded really loud in your first video of the race truck. Is the white truck the same? Thanks for publishing this!

    • @420motors

      They are the same but I didn’t think either was too loud. And yea on the video you could tell I got confused on that section too at first. You can use the springs with the stock shocks but will need limit straps. And yea your overland payload would enjoy them. I’m sure it’s bouncy as hell with no weight in the rear

      420 motors I heard from the AEV guys that there are recommended stage 1,2 and 3 combos. I can’t find anything published on what these “stages” are. Any insight here?

    • @420motors
      @420motors  5 лет назад +1

      Yea probably just what they refer to them internally. My guess would be bumps or leafs is one stage. Bumps and leafs a second stage and the shocks a third. But I’m honestly just guessing

    If I install a ZR2 Front Leveling Kit with High-Angle Upper Control Arms 84621360 on a Stock 2020 ZR2 is it necessary to install the Ball Spline Half Shafts 84429060 or am I ok with stock half shaft? Don't use it quite as hard as you. Love the vids keep them up?

    • @420motors

      If you don’t use it much you should be ok. I would expect the failure point to be torn rubber boots. So you will make it home by risking it

    Will the cv axles work on the z71? I'd love to throw those on with my mid travel set up. RCV hasn't gotten around to doing cv shafts for our trucks yet

    • @420motors

      They might be too long but I’m not sure. They work on h3’s so it is possible I just don’t know the geometry.

    • @madcratebuilder

      You would need ZR2 UCA, LCA, possible the rack as the ZR2 is 3.5 inches wider than the Z71.

    • @420motors
      @420motors  5 лет назад +1

      It’s the same wheel base so no benefit besides weight. Also Since part of the goal is to test and promote the parts. The flagship vehicle is what they wanted.also any extra weight during testing is good for torture if we ever buy any as consumers. Want them to be tested at the limit.
