- This has got to be one of the craziest apartment conversions on the planet, and it doesnt even look like an apartment building from the street. Very cool and unique to live in an Ex-Cathedral.

Great news! If you make a purchase from any link above, my channel earns a small affiliate commission from the site.
I love a window over the kitchen sink.. and the round one is so sweet!
IMO it’s the nicest kitchen.
Be cool to see follow up episodes where u go back to places you've seen already, but we get to see how the renter has made the space their own 🙂👍
I rarely comment, but these are divine spaces! Love it when designers can successfully incorporate practical living spaces into converted buildings!
Literally "divine"! LOL
This country girl never had any desire to visit NY (prob because the movies always have it getting destroyed lol) but I’m really enjoying your videos showing the neighborhoods and these crazy expensive apartments.
It makes me see your city in a more human light. This place is so cool and I would love to shoot hoops in that court!
Your videos have become longer recently, and I find myself loving it.
I grew up in the CT suburbs, lived on Long Island for a few years and had family In Brooklyn and Manhattan. I stumbled on this channel and continue watching because I love seeing neighborhoods that don’t usually show up in videos.
I grew up up in CT too . . . Trumbull and Hamden. 🏠
SW CT as well!
I lived in New Haven for 13 years
I have dreamed of living in NY all my life. Lucky yous.
I grew up between Manchester and Willimantic CT
These are all nice. Love how the modern interior is combined with the older architectural features.
I like them all. Budget allowing, I would take any of them, but they don’t have in-unit washer and dryer, which is a deal breaker for this California kid.
Walkups definitely have to have a washer and dryer!
Those windows are EVERYTHING. Gorgeous. I'd want to rent just for the Cathedral windows in that one bedroom! LOL
Totally unique building and those interiors are thoughtfully designed!
What a beautiful building! I love the windows! I'm so glad they "had to work around.." the building features. Buildings like this need preservation. It's too bad that renting in NYC for most requires a roommate, or several roommates, to be affordable. I would have a problem with that. I hate most people and just tolerate the rest. 😉 so no NYC apartment living for me! Thanks for the video, Cash! 👍
Smart, avoid being ripped off. NYC sucks because it’s way overpriced so it’s just a grind, all money going to rent. Not worth it.
Your comment...'I hate most people and just tolerate the rest.' Took the words right out of my mouth. Are you my long lost sister?
Hate most people tolerate the rest 😂 I can relate
I really love the studio apartment. The brightness is like being up in heaven and actually looking out at the other parts of the church makes you feel like you might be there or on your way. Those windows are truly unique and I would love to have it. Romeo Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo? As for the larger units, they seem to lack character and the views are not as nice. Also I did take note of the higher Windows which does bring brightness into the apartment okay but just picture sitting beneath them at a table and you can't even look out the window 😉
That was my favorite, too. I love the light and the outdoor spaces.
The high windows in that last apartment's bedroom are especially cool because you get more wall space and more options as to where you can put your furniture.
Also, you don’t have to worry about people on the street looking into your apartment.
It’s easy to scoff at NYC rent prices, but this is one of those gorgeous spaces that makes me want to work harder so I could afford a place like this.
What a fabulous building!
$4300 a month for one bedroom. When I was in college I paid $635 for a 2 bedroom. I will never be able to relate to these prices.
My first apartment (1985) was $325 a month!
Damn, I live in the most affordable city in the US and I pay $950 for a 1 bedroom
@@Jarrd260 Where do you live ???
@@kenscales4992 Fort Wayne, IN. That takes into account of cost of food and how much the area median is. I'm sure that's changed since 2020 but still seems somewhat affordable.
My first apartment (1970) was $92.00 a month and that included utilities...two bedrooms. But...min. wage was $1.25 an hour.
Ironic how Christian is the realtor of a church apartment. Makes absolute sense
🤔
Thank you soo much for saying what I was JUST gonna say!
The Barber who does shaves is Nick. Lifeguard, Bob.
Hahahahahah yes it's true
It's Christian to provide housing for the needy in a church that's disused. A church recently bought out millions of dollars of medical debt to be eliminated. If Christians did cool things for their communities like that more often they would begin to fill their churches up again.
If I were rich I would probably sue the government to force them to payback wages at current minimum wage for the inmate worker program & start a tiny house building program with the help of a local trade school. The workers would would potentially get hundreds of thousands of dollars of back pay per each worker, and I would offer them the chance to walk away with a free tiny house as a tradeschool graduation award.
If they're getting their own tiny house on their way exiting the prison system then they would want to read up interior design with magazines in their prison cells.
I recommend people use Bamboo or white colored cabinets with Phenolic Resin Countertops which are those black counter tops you see in chemistry labs.
If the Prisoners built their own tiny house to their specifications then they'll quickly want to cut out abusive acquiescence out of their freind circle such as drunkards who punch holes in walls.
It would be a self feeding loop of reform essentially, If they cut out abusive assholes then they'll probably start hitting the gym to improve their own bodies, maybe the prisoners would build a tiny house extension to fit a treadmill to stay in shape during winter time?
I absolutely love all the apartments in this building. The layout is wonderful in all. One can easily see much thought, planning, creativity and talent went into the design while at the same time preserving the original building. Way better than what most do to existing structures by gutting and starting from scratch. Maybe more renovations should be approached in this manner. Very classy outcome. Perfection! Thank you again for another wonderful tour and Happy Father's Day.
Cash’s hilarious tour of this neighborhood got him free food 🤣❤️👏🏾
Hey, Tiffany!
@@PopsieLouisiana59 🥰
Happy Valentine’s Day Jordan make sure you give you whife flowers
And your wife as well 🌼🌹🌺🍁🏵️💐🥀🥀
These are my fave apartments so far that I've seen on your channel. Very cool.
Love your videos! As I was my younger self, as a professional figure skater with Ice Capades, I did live in New York in a beautiful apartment overlooking Central Park, and it was wonderful with 3 bedrooms. Of course I’m old now, but I love your touring of New York! ❤! These apartments as beautiful 😍
It's definitely cool to see the building's older features kept and maintained as the interior was updated; the spaces overall look pretty good, and the view on the roof deck is cool. May not be able to afford them anytime soon, but a pretty well-done conversion.
Wow , all are very nice and with good space. love it and love the area too.
I love the studio. It is smaller but the windows make it look 8igger, And when the weather is good, you could extend your living area out onto the deck with a garden and some chairs. I like the privacy of the studio being on the top floor too.
I like the corner kitchen the best.
There it is! Old building charm....with plumbing that works. Very nice indeed.
I loved all of them but surprisingly my fav was the studio! So bright and the roof deck was icing on the cake.
I think that building is right up there with anything you've shown, Cash. All the apartments seemed equally great and I would live there no worries - bit of a commute to Australia though 🤣
Hi Cash and to your friend this is a very beautiful apartment in a NYC church. Have a blessed day 👍
I see other options on room layout because I don't have to design around a TV. Got rid of that stupidity years ago. Not only is my life much more peaceful, but it's so much easier to arrange a room when you don't have to make the TV the center of it.
You're so funny! Love the content about the neighborhoods!
wow that was a huge rectory...nice apts.....like the roof studio with all the light..great for an artist
👩💻I really enjoy the slice of New York culture you add to your videos. Every neighborhood is different.🙋♀️🇺🇲
The studio is the 🏆 winner! The privacy, windows and deck outside area! The price, I feel it's the best one. Definitely a cat owner would love this place, their cats would be in heaven! 💓
Thanks for another great video, Happy Valentine's Day to your babies!
I love the studio with all that natural light! But the 2 bedroom is idea for my girls and I. BEAUTIFUL spaces. Thank you for sharing
Unlike a lot of the closet-turned-apartments, these are really nice! Large and bright, lots of windows and more than an arm's length of a kitchen. I love old, converted buildings. They generally have great bones.
like a kid in a candy store cash explores a entire apartment building 🤗
Love the simple and functional interiors. Does not look builder basic and cheap like a lot of older NYC apartments.
I love how you show New York City. I have never been but my daughter has been with her 8th Grade class. She said she loved it and when her x boyfriend went to the New school so she went to visit 🎈
I've always loved the idea of turning historical buildings into housing. This church is gorgeous. I'd move into that studio unit in a heartbeat! 😍
I had no idea those apartments would be so nice but either one would be great especially the one with the corner view the last two were not my favorites. Thanks Cash.
Definitely unique and lovely apartments, but $3400/month for a studio WITHOUT its own washer-dryer is outrageous.
I love the studio apartment with all the windows and the rooftop outdoor space.
OK, life-changing chocolate croissants, luxury apartments, and a recycling chute....win, win, win. Excellent job, Cash!
Thank you for assisting young folks find safe apartments.
I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and we played handball all the time against others in the neighborhood. So we didn’t play handball because we were lonely or sad (lol). Great apartments and video.
when i first moved to new york this was the neighborhood i moved into... so nostalgic.
I grew up in CT suburbs of NYC, lived for a while on Long Island and had family in Brooklyn. Love seeing neighborhoods many of which I have some familiarity with that you don’t usually see in videos.
I love, love, LOVE how many windows there are, you almost dont electric lighting till night time
Those windows that only open like 2 inches add to the already claustrophobic feeling of living in NYC. Would drive me nuts.
Love the architectural features, especially the windows. The outdoor spaces are really nice, the views for one and the covered deck for another. The kitchens have good storage and appliances, but I don't think I saw a microwave in any of them. The bathrooms are fairly large with nice surfaces and fixtures. I like that they are modern without destroying the uniqueness of the church architecture. Love the video!
Who would of thought Brooklyn would up become so popular. A lot od spray paint on everything. Nice looking apartment, although a little pricy. I do enjoy seeing your videos. You're up 14,000 subscribers since I started watching...way to go...
That studio on the top floor! If it were just a tad larger with one more closet, it would be perfect.
Glad to see they respected the building. Stunning. I'd love to live in any of those. Love from Australia x
It's nice that they had to keep the exterior unchanged. Some of those windows are so unique. Tbh tho I'm not really a fan of the interiors. & no in-unit laundry for the price? That shared laundry room is so basic. The landlord really knew how to maximize his profits by making the tenants pay for all their own utilities except water. I don't think they're worth the money even if it is hipster Williamsburg
Happy valentine's xx
A little piece of heaven for only $4k+ per month.
I love watch Cash saying hi to fans on the street. It's giving 2016 Casey Neistat vibes!
Just came back from New York yesterday. I'm exhausted from all the walking. Can you do a video about apartments in the Astoria neighborhood?
Nice have a nice Valentine’s Day
Love these apartments! My favorite is the rooftop one. The rents still astound me. Remember, in VA, I've got 2600 sq ft. of living space for under 2 grand. The owner ought to consider making one of these units an Air-BnB 😀 Just beautiful places to live in the Big Apple.
Happy Tuesday/ V Day CJ😀n This is Gonna b so Good🔥🔥🔥👍….
These are stunning! I love the design and the simplicity of it, so clean and nice. My favorite was the studio to be honest, the roof deck, the natural light, the space, sadly, there wasn't so much storage but it was the nicest.
*Fun fact:* The windows in old cathedrals were positioned high up, as to allow in maximum sunlight, but to also eliminate the temptation of glancing out the windows and being distracted, whilst praying.
Hi Cash! Keep up the good work.
There's an AirBnB in a church in my town i want to try at some point. I did the train station for my birthday in January. Love that deck, it's so nice!
I'm loving the church being converted into apartments. If I won the lottery, I'd buy one of these.
Cool place. It’s hard to pick a favorite. I really love the covered deck in the one bedroom, but those windows in the two bedroom are awesome. If you have a roommate, it would be a battle as to who gets the cool room.
I loved the Studio apartment, with all those's window's some of them low💕 also you have entry to outside deck💕💕
Wow! Really nice and very unique apartments - well worth the high NY price! Thanks.
As a homeowner it just kills me watching you slam the doors of appliances so hard. Even my kids know better.
Fabulous and close to real French Like Pain au chocolat...they have it down..I can tell...Oh heaven..bet they have Almond Croissant too...I always get a little giggle from one of your insider's dry humor tips,..thank you..sure it adds a year to my life as they accumulate.
Good use of old churches for people to live❤
You got to love how he talks about these local businesses and restaurants and cafes as if he's ever actually been IN or ate ate any of them....
These are just wonderful apartments airy beautifully simple design , I want one! these are the best I have seen that you have shown us why don't you rent one the space!!
Of course the church converted apartment would be in Williamsburg.
The studio, the person renting should add an igloo for winter outdoor dining.
Bro I love them apartments 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
There is another Subway access point 1.15km from Whiskers Vegan Cafe where you go up steps to get your ticket or use your personal metro ticket then you go up more steps to get to the platform proper.
I'm aware of the attraction people feel to pay nearly $5k per month to live in small space within an overall a densely populated area. I talk with New Yorkers who have moved on to slower paces of life often. Perspective, $250k can buy acres of land in relatively prestine and unpolluted environment while also being within 30 minutes of a Trader Joe's. The nearest neighbor can be halfway to the horizo, the city center would be a casual drive with a scenic lakeview alomg the way and you would own the land. So for almost the same payments for this apartment plus other cost of living, an individual can become a landlord and setup the future 60 year old self with a private kingdom.
Renting is a nessicity while figuring out the next move.
It's beautiful.but to pay Electric for heat, hot water and cooking the bill will be high as hell..
My cats would LOVE that round window❣️
When we were young in the '70's we rented a whole 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a fireplace for $300.00. That was in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Just be warned, if you get the apt with the window in the closet, Cover it, like all other windows, and Make Sure It Is Locked! Because that is where your intruders will come in. I had a window like that, that I had gone through a whole lot of trouble to get free so I could open it for air in an apt without a/c. only to be broken into TWICE using That window. Because it's not a window that you see all the time, it's vulnerable.
Christian could not have a better name as a rectory rental realtor.
Beautiful building! Apts. are super fine!
In the second apartment I saw the perfect spot for a breakfast nook 😎🥐☕️
The exterior is a NYC Landmark, so there can be so changes to the appearance of the exterior. Interesting design challenge, well resolved.
I loive the windows in the firs tone - so much light!!
I loved playing handball as a kid in New York.
This is one of your most beautiful tours of apartments.
i used to rent in that neighborhood for 400 a month for a room in a two bedroom apartment. and that was not even so long ago, actually, 2009. funny enough i now rent a 600 sqf one-bedroom apartment in a small german city for roughtly 600 a month. NY prizes have become absolutely nuts.
3:07, thats for "wall ball" as we called as kids. Play it with a tennis ball, forgot the exact rules but the way we played it if you screwed up you had to bend over at a 45 degree angle and touch the wall while the other person who last threw it got to chuck the ball as hard as possible at your ass. Or if somebody caught it without it bouncing then all the other players had to line up on the wall, ass facing up and the person who got it could beam you as hard as possible with the tennis ball
I love that studio & 1- bdrm.
Love, love, love and love it even more 🤩
Only Cash could discover such a cool archive👍
First thing I'd do on day one, upon moving in, is bust those safety stoppers off those windows.
Why wanna comit suicide ? Lol ..
@@WANDERER0070Well, you know, with rent how it is... NYC apartment leases now come with all-inclusive safety-nets like the chinese have at the Apple mobile phone factories.
I'm watching this video again, six months later, and ..apparently.. I've come back here to make my same comment twice. ...the window safety things... coming off day one...
I am from Eugene Oregon and I watched over 10 of your videos I like apartment I love apartments but I’m looking for a very cheap apartment under the 600 mark anyways yeah really cool dude and you do a really cool thing about the whole apartment thing and everything it’s so cool I wish you the best and everything. Thanks for making these. I enjoy them a lot Eugene Oregon.❤❤❤
Hand Ball is like self serve sport , golf , ping pong , etc
