@Pepeko I started watching Dr. Ekberg's videos on Mar 8 and since then have bing watched. I started the diet he recommended 3 days ago. Before Mar 12, I was diabetic. I had been on Rybelsus 14 mgs and lost about 30 pounds (8 months). So on Mar 13, I decided to cut a pill into two halves and took one. I measured the blood sugar as 110 mg/dL. Yesterday Mar 14, I stopped taking Rybelsus. I ate a breakfast that contained a coffee and some non-sweet fruits & a piece of butter and drank a lot of hot tea during the day. I ate meat and some greens in the evening. This morning, the blood sugar was 90 mg/dL. After 2 1/2 days since I followed his advice, I am free from diabetes. I have also lost 3 pounds. My husband is still at work; I cannot borrow his tool for measuring blood pressure yet. I suspect that the high blood pressure has gone. I hope that when I go for a liver ultrasound in 6 months, the fatty liver issue would have gone too. Lemon and also vinegar for that matter is hard on the chops when eaten directly and not mixed as in an iced tea or a Italian dressing with added vinegar which will then be supposedly safely diluted for example because pure vinegar with garden salad used to be an everyday staple when I was growing up and putting two and two together made me realize why everyone needed dentures.
Excellent video. I appreciated your discussion of how statins work. Thank you. Could the difference between net carbs and sugar in lemons and limes be partially accounted for by their pectin content (a soluble fiber)?
I AM doing an 72h fast and will be breaking with a big glasset of whole blended citruswater(peel and all) then a tuna egg salat a few hours later. Cheers Doc.
I eat lemons (or rather the juice) not so much for the Vit C, but to reduce the PH in my stomach in order to digest protein. I find ot works better than ACV, and I actiually like the taste. I also use it on salads and in cooking.
Highly informative and "palatable" video, as always 🙂 I read somewhere on the Internet long ago, that statins can cause diabetes2 in the end. Is that true, and if so- do the statins also afflict the pancreas?
Hi, thanks for your efforts and time, the information you're sharing changing lives! Hoping that the new year brings you new ideas and possibilities. I have a question regarding lemons. These days, I consume a quarter of lemon almost every day, so it turns out it's about 0,8 grams of sugar per day. Is it OK to do so on a daily basis, or it's better to consider making breaks? Thanks
I drink lemonade or limeade with stevia added everyday. It's good Pomelo is also known as 沙田柚 which is like grapefruit but the flesh is white, but sweetness is same. Kumquat 柑桔 is usually eat dried
Hi. I mix my oranges and grapefruits with other fruits with th skin. That way I add a lot of fibre to my cocktail which I think slows down the process of getting glucose into the blood. I am right about it or I am wrong?
What are the side effects of ashwagandha we take this product as a supplement? Would you please give a presentation on this trending supplement. Thank you.
I read that grapefruits are a cross between pummelos and navel oranges. This came about when pummelos were brought from Asia to the Caribbean. I discovered this year I have a grapefruit tree in my yard. It finally produced fruit after many years. I had even cut it down once because I don't like plants with thorns.
I do drink 4 oz of cold pressed 100% organic carrot juice blended with a few oz of cold pressed 100% organic orange juice bc I don’t think I get enough potassium/ magnesium each day. It may not be that much help, but I love it and feel that 6 oz of pure organic juice will not wreck my entire nutrition profile
Actually, based on a video from Dr. Berg, I've started juicing the entire lemon or lime and drinking it with a large glass of mineral water, sweetened with a few drops of stevia. A lemon is about 90 to 100g. Drinking the whole thing likely gives me some fiber along with the essential oils.
Me too🎉 And yes! It absolutely has more fiber! The skins actually have very little glucose/fructose, or carb that is not fiber, and it works just as well on our bile system as the juice itself does. I’m considering leaving out more of the juice tonight when I prepare more icecube trays of it. Also going to try to include the skin of one or two of our own pomegranates. I also make it with at least some Allulose to further slow/block the carb digestion & flatten the peak a bit🙏🏽
If you're female, know that drinking lime juice regularly stops your periods. That happened to me when I drank the juice of one whole lime daily. When you stop, they come back, so I don't know how serious it is or isn't. Nor do I know whether it acts as a contraceptive. I just know it happens. Look it up.
@@jackiedelvalle I recently began menopause on the slightly late side, but have had a lot of limes without that reaction. I guess we're all a bit different. I did grow some white sage and was putting a leaf to steep in my cold water bottle. That made my longish cycles way too short! So I stopped that. I think I will start again, now that I don't have to buy protection anymore!🎉
I wish dieticians who make up institutional menus had the knowledge given in these videos. I was in the hospital and one day for breakfast was fed: orange juice, yogurt with fruit (and sugar), pancakes with 2 portions of syrup, coffee with two sugars. I had a laptop with me and looked up the sugar content. It was in excess of 100 grams, plus there were easily converted starches in the pancakes. When the dietitian came to visit, she was shocked when I mentioned it and promised to provide low carb, high protein meals for the rest of my stay. The next day's breakfast had eggs, but also juice, toast, jam and sweetened yogurt.
@@tonyprice2256 Sometimes they force you to fast by conveniently scheduling you to miss meals. On the other hand, if you are ill, you need a healthy diet to help you to recover.
At the hospital they believe that any side item of less than 40gram of carbs = keto. I was brought a tray with apple pie on type II diabetes plate. WTAF I try for less than 40 grams a day. By their hospital definition you could have 200 grams of carbs IN ONE MEAL and still be keto. The ignorance is deafening. I went round and round with the medical dietary department that insisted that oatmeal is the healthiest thing you can eat. YES, if you are a horse or cow. Oatmeal is 100 percent starch which is sugar. It breaks down in your mouth before you even swallow it with amylase.

I know why the lemon and lime have high net carbs because I’ve looked it up in the past. What’s happening is that they are reporting only the juice from lemons and limes. They don’t report on the lemons and limes as if you are eating them. So there is no fiber there. I would like to know the net carbs if you consume the entire lemon or lime (like in a smoothie). Thanks so much and I hope maybe I’m correct!
I eat fresh fruit, from my own orchard, in season. Right now, we have finished off the last of the oranges and are faced with a huge crop of avocados, far more than we can consume.
Again, GREAT info Doc! I use solely lemon and lime anymore. I was unaware of lemons vit C superiority to lime. I predominantly use lime with Mexican food, and not very often. Would like to see a lemonade comparison to other juices? Thanks!
Fyi, store bought lemonade has even more sugar than fresh squeezed orange juice. For example, Costco's Kirkland brand lemonade has a total of 32 grams of sugar (29 grams of added sugar) in an 8 oz. serving compared to 21 grams of sugar. That is about 50% more sugar.
Very good watch. Thank you. Would be worh mentioning Imazalil (fungicide used to prevent decay in citrus fruit and bananas) as not all the citrus from shops are organic.
Thanks for you great video with lots of information! I would love to know more about "x" and "y". Hope you don´t leave there details out in the future, they are priceless.
Thanks Again! This offers up some truly useful & semi-uncomfortable information. Because of the sugar, I learned to stop my beloved fresh squeezed organic OJ, but as compensation took up eating a few mandarins as a daily treat to start the day. Guess that's over now! Both my GP & Cardiologist have had me on statins for years, (I'm in my 70s) and I take CoQ10 daily thinking I'm somehow counteracting/compensating for the statin impact effect. PLEASE do a fresh, dedicated video presentation on the mechanics & impact of STATINS (so widely used!) and your personal best dietary & supplement practices for those who are (still) taking them as per the routine advice of doctors.

Coconut water natural as possible with nothing added makes a good electrolyte too just as lemon juice with sugar water and salt added ! I think even milk is an electrolyte drink cows milk, right doc? Vegetable juice bananas etc all are good to supply rehydration after exercise I think ? 😊

Tuscanini 100% sicilian lemon juice not from concentrate is probably the best lemon juice you can buy that comes in 200ml squeezy bottles or 500ml bottles. Does contain potassium metabisulfite but saves you squeezing 40 lemons.

Great video doc, thank you!The explanation about statin, very helpful.
Hello Dr Ekberg, been learning a lot from your videos, great content. I just got my ferritin levels checked, and I have iron overload, I'm at 1600. It runs in my family. Can you make a video about this subject. What's your take on it, and what about nutrition on this problem.
Lemon of course
Excellent video. I appreciated your discussion of how statins work. Thank you. Could the difference between net carbs and sugar in lemons and limes be partially accounted for by their pectin content (a soluble fiber)?
You and Dr.Berg are the best
International treasures❤️❤️❤️
Both are charlatans.
You mean to increase the stomach acid?!
Thanks
Thanks Dr, amazing information! So glad that such a concise and complete package of high quality data became available to me through a single video!
So glad I refused to take statin drugs…Thanks again for your wealth or should I say health of information… Look forward to your next video.❤️
Hello Dr. If I ingest coconut unheated oil for breakfast and dinner would this bad for my health. How long can I do this?
I drink lemonade or limeade with stevia added everyday.
It's good
Pomelo is also known as 沙田柚 which is like grapefruit but the flesh is white, but sweetness is same.
Kumquat 柑桔 is usually eat dried
You might try monk fruit sugar instead. See if it tastes better.
Hi. I mix my oranges and grapefruits with other fruits with th skin. That way I add a lot of fibre to my cocktail which I think slows down the process of getting glucose into the blood. I am right about it or I am wrong?
Great vid as always! Dr Sten, please do a video on Hypoglycemia vs LCHF + IF.

Pomelo is so delicious, I first tasted one when I was in a care facility after I had knee surgery. They had a tree growing there.
Just enough data an science to satisfy my questions. Great video Dr!
Hi doc! Thank you for creating these easy to understand explanations! May i ask, I wonder about food recommendations for pregnant women?
With the exception of tomato juice, I stopped all fruit juices a long time ago, they're basically just sugar and water. Almost as bad as soda.
Thank you so much Dr. Sten. You’re the best! 🙌🏼
Me too🎉
And yes!
Are oranges and lemons ok for insulin resistance

Are these furanocoumarins fine as long as you don't take any medication or are they slightly harmful regardless (or neutral) ?
This is an excellent explanation. Thank you for sharing
The last time i was in the hospital i basically fasted mostly.
Dr Ekberg do you have any videos on phytosterols? I embrace cholesterol from animal foods as part of my [ketogenic] diet, but I've been cautioned to avoid phytosterols and I can't find much information about them
Hello Dr. Ekberg, is it possible to make some videos about natural Aromatase inhibitors, cancer etc.?
I found Chrysin a good compound and many in vitro studies showed an good effect.
Since I'm not an Doc, I can't evaluate.

What about Apple and White vinegar if I use instead of above all Fruits. Thank you Sir.
Clear all medication first, do detox, then you can eat whole foods as your medicine 😊 thank God I have zero medication in my household, not even tylinol, I do not take pharma medication when I’m sick. I eat healthy, get rest and get holistic treatment once I’m not contagious.
Great information Dr. ❤
Thanks Doctor, have a nice weekend.
Excellent information on Citrus Fruits👍
I like to take a pomelo clean it from skin and start watching a movie expecting to enjoy the fruit for while duration of movie but, it's always eaten after first 5-7 minutes ;)
Is there anything you can eat to help reverse plaque in your arteries? tks.....
Oh man I was looking forward to this one, but where is the kiwi??
Nice perspective doc!
Reminding us to use fruit as “natures candy” 🍭 helps those on the journey to metabolic health to focus on consuming essential fats and amino acids instead of nonessential carb sources like fruit 😊
Sure. Also, for metabolically healthy individuals, they can be a good source of electrolytes.
The fruit eaters live longer in studies! Sweet! For those of us that exercise and are at ideal weight and don't have diabetes, I say enjoy your fruit for dessert three or four times a day!
The University of Oxford used data from nearly half a million subjects in China over several years, which suggested that those who eat fruit every day reduce their risk of CVD by 25 to 40 percent, when compared to those who never eat fruit.
"The researchers found that compared to people who never ate fruit, those who ate fruit daily cut their CVD risks by 25-40% (around 15% for IHD, around 25% for ischaemic stroke and 40% for haemorrhagic stroke). There was a dose response relationship between the frequency of fruit consumption and the risk of CVD (see figure)."
European Society of Cardiology. "Fruit consumption cuts cardiovascular disease risk by up to 40 percent." ScienceDaily. ScienceDaily, 1 September 2014.
" When examined separately, fruit intake was associated with lower risk of cardiovascular, non-cardiovascular, and total mortality, while legume intake was inversely associated with non-cardiovascular death and total mortality (in fully adjusted models)."

In this study, Fruits beat out vegetables with respect to reducing the risk of Coronary Heart Disease!
"The risk of CHD was decreased by 4% [RR (95% CI): 0.96 (0.93-0.99), P = 0.0027] for each additional portion per day of fruit and vegetable intake and by 7% [0.93 (0.89-0.96), P < 0.0001] for fruit intake."

In this 13 year study of approx 50,000 people in Japan, fruit reduced the risk of death more so than beans or vegetables:
"Fruit intake was inversely associated with mortality from total stroke (the multivariable hazard ratio (HR (95 % CI)) in the highest v. lowest quartiles = 0.67 (0.55, 0.81)), total CVD (HR = 0.75 (0.66, 0.85)) and total mortality (HR = 0.86 (0.80, 0.92)). Vegetable intake was inversely associated with total CVD (HR = 0.88 (0.78, 0.99)). Bean intake was inversely associated with other CVD (HR = 0.79 (0.64, 0.98)), total CVD (HR = 0.84 (0.74, 0.95)) and total mortality (HR = 0.90 (0.84, 0.96)). Further adjustment for other plant-based foods did not alter the association of fruit intake with mortality from total stroke, total CVD and total mortality, but attenuated the associations of vegetables and beans with mortality risk. In conclusion, intakes of plant-based foods, particularly fruit intake, were associated with reduced mortality from CVD and all causes among Japanese men and women."

It's also worth noting that oranges aren't the best source of vitamin C anyway: 53.2mg per 100g versus yellow peppers @183.5mg. No contest!
But yellow peppers need to be cooked and some of the vitamin is lost in the process.
@@radam2818 they don't necessarily need to be cooked. Good in salads or snack
@@patedwards8844 True, but not if you're a carnivore. :) When I used to eat salads, I used little raw yellow peppers in them a lot (alternating with red and orange ones).
What about beneficial compounds in grapefruit such as quinine.
As always, good honest thorough information.
thanks doc!
Hey Dr Sten Ekberg what are the benefits of Nigella Sativa capsules.
I eat fresh fruit, from my own orchard, in season. Right now, we have finished off the last of the oranges and are faced with a huge crop of avocados, far more than we can consume.
great information thanks
Again, GREAT info Doc! I use solely lemon and lime anymore. I was unaware of lemons vit C superiority to lime. I predominantly use lime with Mexican food, and not very often. Would like to see a lemonade comparison to other juices? Thanks!
Fyi, store bought lemonade has even more sugar than fresh squeezed orange juice. For example, Costco's Kirkland brand lemonade has a total of 32 grams of sugar (29 grams of added sugar) in an 8 oz. serving compared to 21 grams of sugar. That is about 50% more sugar.
@@theleopard3310 Home made lemonade for sure, with pulp and a safe sugar substitute.
Great info again. TY
Very good watch. Thank you. Would be worh mentioning Imazalil (fungicide used to prevent decay in citrus fruit and bananas) as not all the citrus from shops are organic.
I watched the whole video. Thanks.
Thanks for you great video with lots of information! I would love to know more about "x" and "y". Hope you don´t leave there details out in the future, they are priceless.
Question: besides water, what would you recommend are liquids worth drinking on a daily basis?
Organic green tea what ya think?
Super interesting and so well done.
Dr. Ekberg, how did you write in thin air, what whitcraft is this?
Does lemon work or lime work with keto diet? I like them with sea food.
I think both are good. It probably doesn't hurt to switch it up every now and then to get a little variety.

Another benefit of lemon is that it is highly alkalizing in the body
Thank you doc for clarifying the amounts of sugar in most virus fruits / was a big help in explaining it to my kids how bad OJ is - my hubby refuses to listen and drinks a whole glass of Oj when he’s hot and sweaty n tired after a big workout and low on sugar in spite of me telling him to eat an orange instead of a glass of Oj - also told him a glass of fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice Lemonade” with pinch of salt n a just a dash of sugar will give him hydration and all the salts required for dehydration - he takes the easy way out n just pours himself a glass of Oj from fridge!! 🙄🙄won’t listen to my advice but same thing a doctor or someone else says- he will listen for sure!! 😮 the sugar content of citrus fruits knowledge is very useful thank you ! Keep up your good work doc! Appreciate it a lot! 🙏🙏💖
Hi, Bala. If he's working out and sweats a lot, the best way to prevent dehydration is to drink electrolytes. Very important.
Yes I know that , sir, that’s why I give him lemon or lime juice from juice of half a lemon or lime with some sugar and sea salt added to it- doesn’t that make a good home made electrolyte drink? What do you say , doc Ekcberg? 😂
Coconut water natural as possible with nothing added makes a good electrolyte too just as lemon juice with sugar water and salt added ! I think even milk is an electrolyte drink cows milk, right doc? Vegetable juice bananas etc all are good to supply rehydration after exercise I think ? 😊
@The Richest Man In Babylon ya too much sugar in the commercial ones you buy in store , not the absolutely natural one where you break the fresh coconut and drink the water straight natural absolutely original organic and nothing added ! 😁😁
Stop buying the OJ then they don't have the option.
Thanks Doc 👍
Every one of your videos is better than the last one. :-) Thank you so very much for all of them. I don’t eat a single piece of fruit except for Myers lemons and limes so I am happy I’m doing a superior job. :-)
Hello 👋 Beautiful Lady 🌹..how are you doing today?
Hello Dr. Ekberg. Could you please make a video regarding antinutrients in vegetables. Thank you in advance.
+1
it was great to discover the joys of eating Pomelo (especially the Pink/Red instead of the Yellow/Gold) beginning over 20yrs back. The Mrs was shied off Grapefruit by her Dr, due the effects of Grapefruit relating to Quinine (she'd had malaria when a child, and always since warned about the Grapefruit). The Pomelo makes for a great alternative. We also grow Mayer Lemon tree out the back of the house
so how best to consume lemon and lime in the superior category? eat them whole? or make them into juices (which was frown upon)
Tuscanini 100% sicilian lemon juice not from concentrate is probably the best lemon juice you can buy that comes in 200ml squeezy bottles or 500ml bottles. Does contain potassium metabisulfite but saves you squeezing 40 lemons.
