his band constantly amazes me with their ability to play any genre and have a sound so close to the original version when they do a parody; I think the point that impresses me most is the way his drummer can do such a spot-on Dave Grohl for Smells Like Nirvana...

The 1st album I bought with my own money was "Weird Al In 3D", I was 4 years old and the song "Nature Trail To Hell" scared the shit out of me for some reason. We went to a Pumpkin Walk in a big park that Halloween and there was a sign at the beginning of the path that said "Nature Trail", I would not take another step because I thought it would lead me to hell. Completely true, yet embarrassing story.

If he does stop doing albums, I hope he does EPs and not singles so that they can be released on vinyl.

some of his better songs are not hit radio singles yet just gems you'll find listening to his LPs which makes me bummed that he's going to the EP/Single route which is pretty much an industrial must nowadays for certain artist.

The Prince part doesn't surprise me at all. If you ever want to hear a crazy story about Prince, that isn't from Dave Chappelle, look up Kevin Smith's story about how he filmed a documentary about Prince.

Weird Al met "Michael Jackson two or three times." Normal people would remember how many times they met The King of Pop!

Weird Al has said Michael Jackson allowed him to record in his house? I'd assume that means they've met. I'm not making the connection between the two as to not start up a comment war but Weird Al and Michael are(were) both celebrities. I have the feeling, by how humble he is, that Al doesn't believe anybody is above another person. So while I'm sure he respects Michael Jackson, I doubt he was in awe of the "King of Pop". Especially as they're both at the same level of strange and genius.

I have the exact same story about playing an accordion
Door to door salesman he showed up with a damn accordion and my sister wound up taking lessons for almost a year.
As if I wasn't already a geek now I was schlepping a 25 pound squeezebox didn't help at all

Nirvana already had a platinum album before Weird Al covered them.
Green Day were superstars before him.
Chamillionaire was a huge name in the Houston rap scene for years before Weird Al. But Houston doesn’t like to share. The rap scene down there is different from pretty much every other city known for hip hop.
His earliest hits were songs that had been big radio hits.
If you actually go back and look at the people he decided to parody the vast majority of them were already superstars.
You’ll find the odd duck like Milli Vanilli, Rico Sauve, and maybe a few other one hit wonders there. But for the most part he went after the mainstream songs topping various billboard charts so they’d be easily recognizable.
It’s kind of hard to argue that he made R Kelly’s career, or Nelly’s, or Eminem’s when they all had millions in sales before he covered their songs.
