I tip my cap to the LLB! I have always love this intrumental by The Allman Brothers. They do a wonderful job capturing the spirit of the song.

Love these guys, such a great band. That song comes from the album Brothers and Sisters, the first one after the death of Duane Allman. Dickie Betts wrote this song and this band did an awesome job covering it.

The LLB posted this 3 weeks after Dickey Betts passed away. An excellent tribute.

For those not from the UK this was the theme tune for a car enthusiasts program on UK TV for decades. A re-imagination of it has taken it right up to last year. This band have done no re-imagining. Perfect rendition. Heck I enjoyed this. I read somewhere that Dickie wrote this such that Django Rheinhard could have played it.

could be the best road trip tune ever.
whenever anyone poses the conundrum, if you only could listen to one album for the rest of your life, which album would choose. for me its Eat A Beach, and this with Blue Sky in particular.
this is the first group i have heard that can do a fairly faithful rendition of it.
i was fortunate to see the Allman Bros when the band was still the original lineup and no one had passed yet. the Youngbloods were on their last tour and they opened the show. fun was had by all.
i also saw them in a double bill with Pink Floyd. the house was rockin'.
i also saw them with the Band and the Dead at the Watkins Glen festival in AUgust of '73.. nothing beats standing in the rain with a few hundred thousand like minded hippies groovin' to a show of that magnitude!
    as always, thanks for posting.

Like a hand crafted gourmet dinner, all of the components are there and exquisitely done "Allman Brothers style".. All of the solos and riffs are in place right down to the bongos. The drummer was impeccable and the always fantastic keyboardist was spot on! Even the usually stoic Randy, the bass player got into it on the tambourine. i was glad to share this with all y'all! Yes, it's hot down here in Texas and we have Beryl bearing down on us as i type this. Appreciate ya!

@@naknaksdadn572 Great pick Scott! I can't tell you how many times I've listened to LLB play this song, and they were spot on! Prayers for you and all Texans and those in the path of Hurricane Beryl. Keep rockin' and stay safe!!

I don't know if the Allman Bros played it the same way twice. You can find versions from 5 minutes to...( I think I saw a 20 minute version once)

Listened to Allman Brothers since first album came out and saw them in concert in 73-74 and I think LLB nailed this one. AB was in the habit of playing very long versions in concert to the point my wife fell asleep at the concert. They seemed to really enjoy jamming.

Impressive copy, but nothing at all UNIQUE! What was unique about The Allman Brothers, or now The Tedeschi Trucks Band, they add their own spin to this tune. Dickey used to play alterations of his solo all the time. When Dan Toler, Jack Pearson, or Warren Haynes were the other guitar players, they'd also add there unique solo to the mix. This here was good for ONE listen and ONE listen only.
