The only thing that would have made 1998 any sweeter for the NY Yankees, is, if we would've beat the Red Sox in the ALCS instead of the INDIANS, and if we would've swept the Atlanta Braves in the World Series, even with the ridiculously wide strike zones, for Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine. Oh well, we won in 98 in a World Series sweep, and swept those Braves the following season. As a Yankees fan, those were the days!!!
What made this game sweet was that Jared Wright basically ended our season a year before in the ALDS by pitching lights out. Seeing the Yankees light him up a year later in the ALCS with the trip to the World Series on the line was awesome.
Big mouth Jaret Wright taunted the Yankees before the ALCS and the Bombers responded by pounding his breaking stuff and knocking him out the game in the 1st inning. JUSTICE WAS SERVED!

Then when we got him, he basically forgot how to pitch.
David Wells was so great, they let him have a goatee!
Gary Thorne and Kenny Singleton, that's as good as it gets!
Back when pitchers actually pitched a complete game, lfg boomer!
