What a nice car, so stylish, distinctly French and good for it. Really makes the VW id range look decidedly...umm, austere. And can we please now collectively apologise to the Allegro mk1 for it's Quartic steering wheel, a design now shown to be 50 years ahead of its time. BTW, 'one take' is easy for a TV pro' like you Mr Smith, done as smoothly as Des Lynam...
There was little wrong with the Quantic wheel concept in the Allegro 50 years ago, just as there was little wrong with the Allegro, just that British Leyland implantation was so bad. The Quantic wheel being an example, not bold and proud of the concept but just not quite circular, so offered no tangible benefit to the driver whilst still looking odd in a looking broken way. This would not have been an issue had this not been the case throughout the car, a fwd drive gas suspended car should have knocked the world over, but it was all hidden under a layer of mediocrity to appeal to escort buyers. The lack of development and detailing is highlighted by the Allegro 3, which was actually quite good, had nothing on it other than electronic ignition that could not have been implemented on the Mk1 in 73.
The ID3 is larger, more airy, minimalist. The Megane more of a ‘traditional’ car. I hope it’s not too ‘confined’ re rear view and A pillars, roof line. But a very nice addition to the mid battery size EV range. Not a huge lump of metal like so many.
@@grahamariss2111 Quartic, not Quantic. I think the idea behind it was that it was supposed to give you a better view of the instruments. The MkIII Cortina had a slightly oval steering wheel for the same reason. The general idea dates back much further - take a look at the 1960 Plymouth Fury for example.

I've watched a number of 'early' reviews of this new Renault, now - and I have to say, it's an absolutely cracking looking design, especially if, as you say, Jonny, it's about Ford Focus sized... it sure looks WAY bigger, but it's great that it isn't yet-another SUV. And, the interior is absolutely head-and-shoulders above the plastic-hell of the VW iD.3, which is, again, wonderful news. A fab review of a fab car, Jonny - thanks, fella... 😎

A really enjoyable 16mins Jonny! More like this in the future please! Also, what a great piece of design by Renault, inside and out. I hope it sells well for them, I'd certainly have that over an ID3, Ariya etc.

This car gets me so excited for the Renault 5 EV. They're showing us they know what they're doing. At first I hated the idea of EV's but now I seem to love them all.
That's exactly how I felt, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm only 20 so I'm part of the generation who are supposed to be all over them but at first I wasn't, but learning about them and seeing them out and about has changed my view. I hope to get one as soon as possible!
@@dave9614 Me too but it's chic and cool in that French kinda way for maybe just merely a daily. Not sure for much more feelings involved in that yet for me. The 5 will be fantastic though with this in mind. I usually end up liking projects like that because they're forced to inject even more style into it like the new Mini. Speaking of, if the Mini electric had more range I'd be all over it.

Brilliant episode Jonny. I do like said Renault, would love it if they did a sports tourer version...😍 We neeeeed more EV estates, heck, if they have to be like Allroad style with a slightly rased ride heigh and some extended wheel arches then so be it...👍🏻
I much prefer this to the ID3. I have had two Renaults with long term ownership (10 years and three years). I didn't have any issues with either, maybe I was lucky but it gave me confidence in the brand.
First off, I can't believe this was a "one take"... it was flawless! Also, I'm really digging this car. I love the instrument panel and how it seems much more integrated than a lot of other EVs. I'm curious about road noise. It's difficult to tell from the recording--I could hear a roar, but I don't know if the mic simply exaggerated it. Either way, excellent review.
Same question, at one point it sounded really loud and you seemed to raise your voice a little which made me wonder whether the audio wasn't being exaggerated?

A superb review by an excellent Motoring Journalist who takes the very essence of a car, and distills it into what makes it great. I've ordered an Iconic model (with that essential Heat Pump!). It was a choice between the Renault and a Tesla Model 3 , for about the same price.......no contest really! The 'sterile' boring Tesla looked so outdated and it's tech is so 'yesterday' compared to the Megane. By the way, many reviewers have timed the 0-60 time as 6.9 sec (that's Mini Cooper S territory but with that lovely instance torque) instead of the claimed 7.5 sec........how very French, underplaying, unlike the Italians, which like to exagerate! A brilliant touch going to the experts for the tech, Google, constantly updated.......well done Renault!
I like it more than the ID & Ariya, however it does really depend on that price if the bigger battery model comes in at £35,000 then it will be a winner. It will probably be nearer £45,000 once our Government gets hands on it.

Hi Johnny firstly wishing you and your family a great Easter buddy. What cool weather we having really good for the evs. I got my c4e as you said three weeks ago I had a ds3 e tense b4. Great review. Take care kind regards Marcus
There's something about Renault cars I always find they look good, (Apart from the Twizzy) the E-Tech Megane is spot on with its exterior and interior design. Looks a well thought-out car. Quite like the way the dash displays wrap around too. Even with a one take review, it just goes to show you're a absolute craftsman when it comes down to putting together any episode of TLBS. Spot on as always Jonny! 👊
Thank you for another honest review. I too like it a lot! Was really looking forward to the launch here this March - then it was postponed to May, and now postponed again to August - ont op of that the price have now been raised 26.000,- DKK (€3500).... Yikes! Now it seems like the Cupra Born, the updated Ioniq 5, or even the Kia EV6 is a better choice ... but I really like the Google infotainment, and the Kia/Hyundai waiting time of up to 14 months is just rediculous!!
Thanks for another great review. My Zoe PCP finishes in August, and I'm looking for something a little bigger. I've tried an MG ZS, and will look at the new Kona and eNiro (I don't like the touch screen only options like the Tesla or ID3). However, this looks like the most likely replacement, especially as all the others are talking about earliest deliveries in Oct/Nov.

Very nice EV, love the design! Unfortunately one of those EVs we will never see here in North America, but we will get the Nissan. There has never been as many EVs as we have now in the world, exciting times! Nice review Jonny!
Great review Johnny as always. We are looking forward to seeing these appear within the club and hopefully many more E-Tech ranges to come. Maybe this is the vehicle to bring myself back to Renault or as mentioned before the GT5 E 😁 Be really interested to see the stepped up build quality in the flesh soon. Thanks again for the video 👊

Great first look Jonny. Touched on all the key points 👍 Looks like Renault has done a cracking job with the new Mégane. I loved the look of the initial concept design, which rarely translates through to the production, but the car looks great. The other area I thought it might all go wrong was driving dynamics, but from your initial impressions all is looking good. O.T.S.O.T.
Great review Jonny. Super slick one take 😉. Car looks great. As you say, difficult to judge the size... Need to be stood next to it or sat in it. Like your new style video graphic pop ups too. All good. Well done
This car looks great but there's two issues, it isn't available in NA and from the sound in the video, it seems quite loud on the interior. The sound issue might just have been how the cameras were setup though.
Really sensible to make just a normal hatchback as opposed to a soft roader like other manufacturers, nice easy style for a one take too Jonny, Rj in Oz
Already ordered mine. With Diesel prices going nuts in Germany and i don't see them come back down to where they were in the beginning of the year I finally decided to make the switch to an BEV. And the design and features of the Megane E Tech Electric really got me.
Nice video Mr Smith. I really want one of these. If Renault can make enough of them they’ll be on to a winner. Ford need to be doing something similar with the focus rather than fiddling with their tea towel holders building SUVs.
I’ve never owned a Renault but admired many over the years. If I was buying an EV though this would be at the top of the list for just the physical buttons alone. Well done Renault, this is a serious shot over a German bow!
Great review and the car looks very good. I was relieved though that no children stepped into the road while you were driving through the village and using the large screen - please pay more attention to the road and demonstrate the other features when it's safe to do so!
A professional review Jonny. A mix of informed opion and facts that makes you the go to guy in my opinion. No silly cras jokes just pure professionalism. Keep up the good work you are helping with comparisons and buying decisions.
Best, most professional reviewer bar none Jonny. Another great one take wonder! You're so calm and thoughtful, not afraid of silences, really great to watch. Particularly glad to hear the Renault is not too big for a change, one to put on the list to check out. Cheers Jonny, keep up the good work.
Well who would have expected Renault to get a family EV so right from the start. It deserves great success and I think will certainly get it. I like that it is made in Europe and not the Far East, I like that it has some old Renault qualities from a long time ago…ride for or just one. It sounds to be a car that delivers vastly more than it promises..who on Earth wants a hideous Tesla compared to this? Well done Johnny…..a good honest car review and nothing about daft 0-62 times and on track handling at the Nurburgring….this is a car we WANT!!
It reminds me of the last model of the Scenic and it wasn’t a bad looking car, I admire Renault for not following the current design trends; unfortunately it does reflect upon sales.
Really good video Jonny, you do the one take really well. I like the car, again far too many screens of the wrong type, but its nice that it isn't massive in terms of proportions, though why they had to make it look like a crossover when it isn't I don't know. It is very refreshing though, and the ID is blown away by this
This seems like a really great size and functioning car, no mega raking rear cutting into boot space, yet not a huge car if smaller than a focus. Can see this being really ideal for a lot of people.
You said it was daunting doing a one take video, you wouldn’t know it! Incredible job Jonny and I agree, fantastic looking thing although I still can’t quite get with the program when it comes to the higher ride seemingly all new cars have now
CMF not EMF - ‘You’re UNBELIEVABLE Jonny’🎶😂 seriously a much more interesting and appealing car than the Nissan Ariya which it shares its platform with. Very smooth one take video. Excellent 👌
Nice review thanks Jonny, this looks like it will be a strong contender to replace our Zoe ZE50 when it goes back in 18months time. How many miles/kWh did it do on your test? The range seems to suggest nearly 5m/kWh which seems fanciful. Even if it only matches the Zoe’s winter performance of about 3.8 that’s still a very useful 230mile range.
I think he said 16. something kWh per 100km so a bit under 4 miles per kWh. The bigger battery would be the minimum acceptable IMO. I would need to see over 200 miles range to tempt me, far nicer than ID3 though for sure.
I'm not normally a big Renault fan (I did own one once) but I do like this. I like the Info screen as part of the dash, not stuck on like an after thought. I don't like SUV's so like this is more of a normal car. The inside looks very nice. If they bring that to market at 34K for the bigger battery version, I think it will be hard to beat. Fingers crossed the production car looks and drives like tis one.
The French are making some seriously top cars these last 5-7 years. I have ordered my DS 4, I just can't wait to drive it ! It looks so F beautiful, most beautiful car ever ! But that Megane EV, wow... just wow.. Greetings from Germany !
The leaf and the bolt seem to be the smaller EV options in the USA. With all of the tax incentives, a small EV could be very low cost to buy outright. Why do you think the manufacturers are not interested to compete for sales in this area? While we have more operations in Europe, we would always like to see more small options. Do you think the id3 would sell in the USA? Ford are planning a car based on the VW platform for Europe, is there pressure on them to bring a focus sized EV to the USA? It would be interesting to know if the car makers are out of touch.
I think it’s a lovely car, looks a great electric daily. Looks far better than the id3 based on what I’ve read/watched from excellent journalists such as yourself. I love the looks and the interior looks a great place to be with quality materials. I’ll be in the market for an EV next year, this will be very high on my list to test drive. Never thought I’d say that about a Megane!
I saw this at the 1st dedicated EV motor show in Copenhagen in Oktober and it was the nicest car at the show IMO and there were just about any brand. I couldn't find a single angle from which I didn't think it looked great. Nice to hear it drives well and is quiet too.
Whilst I've never been a fan of Renault in the past, this appears to be a very impressive car from many different perspectives. I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh. Thanks for the well put together video - you have a great natural way to convey your enthusiasm and connection with all the cars you feature on the channel
Great looking car, good quality by the looks of it. Good specs. But the price difference between the 40kWh and the 60kWh you would have to go for the 60 all day long!
Took delivery of my equilibre and it’s lovely to drive. A couple of blemishes though, told no alarm present a week before it arrived and will fit when part arrives, so arranged free GAP insurance, the park button gets stuck so that has to get replaced, no mats so waiting for that along with wheel nut lock and also a knocking from the rear after large speed bumps which needs to go back in to sort. So a few problems but hasn’t put me off as the rest is brilliant
Johnny, what do you think of the cabin noise/quietness? you start off by saying it’s quiet. But then when driving a bit faster, it’s hard to hear your comments because of the background noise.
Very good review Johnny, I do like the look of this car. Had a Renault Kadjar a little while ago, very pleased with that, good quality interior etc. Far better than the Nissan Qashqai. I have an Audi SQ2 at the moment, which I like a lot, dimension wise too, virtually the same dims. as the Megane-e, but the Megane looks larger to me, will check it out in the flesh when we eventually get it here in the U.K. Thanks again !!!
All I can say is just drop the 40 kilowatt and stick to the 60 kilowatt. Renault you have a winner on your hands the outside looks fantastic it does not look like it's just run into a wall, the interior is very smart looking and physical buttons for the heating controls well done Renault for keeping them, all we need now is some funky colour's for the interior's and it's a Goal.👍😁
Yes Johnny and like a few others up here in Aberdeen, we await the new Renault 5e with bated breath , as if liike the old version, the new one comes up and surpasses expectations I for one will be happy to drive it about, in Canary Yellow and Black, nick-named "Bumble-Bea" as the colour equates.
GREAT video. Highly interesting, head-turning car. If it really has vehicle to grid then it could be a game changer. Can’t believe you did that video in one take, not a single Um or Ah and a perfectly eloquent delivery that could have been scripted it’s so smooth.
Just come across this video and have just bought one here in France. Brilliant. Charging network here is pretty good also thus a combination of the Mégane's Google maps and the availability of chargers made a 6hr.30 drive from Toulouse to Cassis seamless. Everything said in the video is spot on.
I've driven it yesterday and I fell in love with it. This will be my next car. My ID.3 drives like a truck compared to it. I even like the Mégane better than the Model 3 SR. In two weeks I'll test drive the Polestar 2 SM LR and I wonder how it'll compare to the Renault.
@@christophlambpie Like a FWD truck. The Polestar 2 is way too heavy. It might be ok as a 4WD, but still too heavy. The Mégane is a lot more fun, has a better suspension, more space for my big feet and is comparable in terms of materials and quality. My next car will be the Mégane Iconic...
@@gerdrosser1038 I will be test driving the Megane soon too. I think the only advantage of the Polestar is its size and its slightly longer range (on paper). The Megane is £5k cheaper and has a lot mare safety features as standard.
Great preview Jonny , my first thought was you must feel right at home with the Allegro steering wheel 😉 and that Renault logo is a retro one that I am sure they used back in the day , seem to remember it from the 70s or 80s😏 ….keep up the great show always an enjoyable watch with awesome content 👍
We have an e-C4 on order and really looking forward to it arriving. I suspect if this Renault had been available we might have gone for it instead. That's one of the "problems" with EVs at the moment - always something new coming out. We will enjoy our e-C4 for the next 3 years and by then the EV choice will be crazy.
Well done one take review Jonny. I would for sure have this on my top list and do a test drive with this. It would fit us now but not sure whether it's "future proof" for a family of four (and a dog in a few years). I hope to see more reviews on these and comparison videos (and would love if you'd feature it again). Cheers!
I love it, i'm getting one. In the UK now, a year later, there's only the 60kwh pack. It is a hatchback. I love everything about it. I testdrove the Equilibre, but i'm getting the Iconic. Man the car is beautiful.
I think that’s the first Renault I’ve looked at in a long while and thought, I’d genuinely would like to own that. It looks so well rounded, thankfully, they’ve made it look like a conventional car, looking especially good in the darker colours. It’s something that really annoys me with EV’s, they don’t need to be quirky looking or different, most are quite ugly if truth be told. Glad to see that Renault have almost played it safe looks wise as it really works. It’ll be interesting to see it more in depth once it’s launched. Nice one Jonny 👍🏼
So many options to incorporate the E into the name better rather than tac it on at the end, bit of a shame. (mEgane, MeganE, Megan-e etc) I cant say i like the styling as it looks too bulbus for me, although there is a lot to like in it as well, but i totally appreciate that its aiming at the crossover market but keeping the hatchback physical proportions, and do love even more for that.... i'd commented in a previous video that i suspect the car manufactures will gradually bring the roof lines and ride height down of both SUVs and Crossovers to the point that they will match current regular cars, and this very much takes that ethos. from an efficiency point of view its the way forward - reduce frontal area and drag, which is essential to give EVs the range they need... another cracking Vid Jonny
Really impressed by the looks of this Megane! Not usually a French car fan, but this one goes straight to joint first place alongside the Kia EV6. The new Megane is an electric car I would actually consider buying. VW has just become plain, boring and way over priced. Also, great Videos as always Jonny! Really informative, all the key facts, no bull. Love it, keep them coming.

Renault have ruined their chances with the lack of options available for the UK. Only 9" screen, no colour options for the top spec, can't remove the gold F1 blade, and only have Harman kardon sound for the top spec Launch edition of which there are only 300... Disappointed really! Especially with the lack of 12" screen.
Very disappointing. Making the UK buyer think we were getting the bigger screen then adding it in small print at the bottom. It doesn’t look anywhere near as nice as the big screen. I think i’ll be looking elsewhere with this decision.
First impressions count. No need to go a Med Launch to give this car the best most honest and informative real life review. I get a very strong 21stC Renault 16 vibe from this. I almost expected the TL, TS, TX badging on the boot and the seats to fold to make some kind of bed 😎 and a different wheelbase on either side. This will have me kicking tyres at the nearest dealer very soon.
An enjoyable and informative review. Looks like a very promising car, but personally I find £35,000 to still be a very hefty price tag. Having a Zoe in the household, we know all about the lower running costs of EVs but the upfront price is still a big barrier to ownership in my opinion.
I testdrove this in May here in Norway, in my hunt for my next car! I had it on my short list, BUT after test-driving it i looked other places. Why: Because I expect a car that costs 450000-. NOK (43-44000 GBP) to WOW me! The Megane E-Tech did not do that. I have also test-driven the ID3. That one I liked better. In comparison the ID3 has more room and light inn the cabin . The main problem with the Megane E-Tech is the dangerously small rear window, and the poor visibility backwards, due to the design. The high-specked version has a camera mirror option inside the cabin, like the one in Nissan Leaf. But on the Leaf i can use the mirror without the camera, and still drive safely. On the Megane that's not possible; Its to dangerous! I ended up buying a Mokka.-E, branded Opel here in Norway. That made me smile when i test-drove it. It had a wow-factor for me. Yes, it has shorter range and smaller boot space than the Megane E-Tech. But I sit higher up, I can look out the rear window, and best of all: It saved me more than 100000.- NOK!
I test drove Cupra Born - really good drive. better than ID3 in all aspects. on wait for Megane in UK ; Just discovered in the UK none of the models have a heat pump and the centre multimedia screen is going to be smaller 9 inches instead of 12 inches even in the Launch edition. It's to draw a distinction with performance-orientated Alpine editions (which effectively replace RS). R5 will have an Alpine variant is touted to be all-electric with top end battery FWD. Also, watch for the Lotus-Renault co-developed follow-up to the Alpine A110. All-electric possibly AWD with 2 motors.
Impressed you remembered all the stats Jonny! Great news they’ve finally got the interiors right now. Anyone else had enough of German cars? Sounds like we can now switch without feeling like it was the wrong thing to do…
I have to be honest John (no pun intended) I've become a bit bored of German cars. Many are average, and it feels like they don't know which direction to go in, in order to combat the amazing Korean offerings.
Looks like Renault have shown VW how to make a quality EV hatch. Having Google Automotive info system is the kicker. We’ll done Renault 👏🏽 Looking forward to a more in-depth review of the UK spec model
Thanks for the first view. Looks like a great car, I'd buy one if I could. Too bad we will not see it in Canada. Not sure what was up with the audio, it sounded like you had a mic outside the car! How quiet or not was it in reality? cheers
Very very well done! I like everyone else here am waiting with baited breath for this little beauty to land! I think we in Ireland will also only get the smaller screen in Righthand Drive. I will have to see how it looks & if I can @ 6ft1 get in & out of it? Once again your presentation & editing was top drawer. Thank you!

The 5 will be fantastic though with this in mind. I usually end up liking projects like that because they're forced to inject even more style into it like the new Mini.
Speaking of, if the Mini electric had more range I'd be all over it.
Just discovered in the UK none of the models have a heat pump and the centre multimedia screen is going to be smaller 9 inches instead of 12 inches even in the Launch edition. Renault seems to be downgrading UK. customers. Really pissed having placed holding fee. Thanks
Brilliant episode Jonny.
I do like said Renault, would love it if they did a sports tourer version...😍
We neeeeed more EV estates, heck, if they have to be like Allroad style with a slightly rased ride heigh and some extended wheel arches then so be it...👍🏻
nice to see renault being proactive with their ev’s, looking forward to the renault 5.
Just discovered in the UK none of the models have a heat pump and the centre multimedia screen is going to be smaller 9 inches instead of 12 inches even in the Launch edition. Renault is downgrading UK customers Really pissed. not even an option Thanks

This is the first time I've actually considered a Renault as my first vehicle. Great video as always Jonny!
Same here, Renault to me are normally as appealing as a cold pizza, but this one is a fresh carbonara.
Got to be honest. One of my favourite looking EV’s. Interior and exterior both very nice. Much prefer it to the ID3. Very impressed.
happy you decided to be “honest” about liking the car. if you were being dishonest, would you then say “to be dishonest…” or would you just leave out the “honest” bit.
Honestly I dare not admit this Renault is far better looking than the awful ID range.

Lovely to have more "Hatchback" options and at competitive prices hopefully.
I’m very tempted by one of these. Good to hear the ride is good too.
Thanks for this Johnny! The Megane E-tech looks very unique!
Wow what a gorgeous looking car let alone all the tech that's in it can't wait to see a proper long review on this car nice one Johnny!! 👌🏻👍🏻
Many thanks Dave. I was v impressed with it.

Lovely looking car, nice to see Renault back on form.

Maybe this is the vehicle to bring myself back to Renault or as mentioned before the GT5 E 😁
Be really interested to see the stepped up build quality in the flesh soon.
Thanks again for the video 👊

@@112deeps agree shocking behaviour once again from Renault UK
Pretty good for a one-take format. And, yes, this looks like a good option for those who can go EV. Thumbs up from me, Jonny.
i'm impressed, you resisted comparisons to the allegros quartic steering wheel.
Great first look Jonny. Touched on all the key points 👍
Looks like Renault has done a cracking job with the new Mégane.
All good. Well done
Great review, thank you Jonny. Would you have this over the soon to be launched Kia eNiro?
Excellent review and I love this format.
This car looks great but there's two issues, it isn't available in NA and from the sound in the video, it seems quite loud on the interior. The sound issue might just have been how the cameras were setup though.
You guys failed to buy Renault 11s ( AMC Alliance)when you had the chance, now you cannot have nice things.
I wondered about the cabin noise too. The slow stuff is lovely and quiet, at speed it sounds very loud.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 I'm pretty sure that was before I was born.
Really sensible to make just a normal hatchback as opposed to a soft roader like other manufacturers, nice easy style for a one take too Jonny, Rj in Oz
Cheers RJ
Looks very promising. Nice to see a car and not another SUV lump. Well done Renault. The video worked very well, too Jonny, Nice job.
It's great to have a decent sized hatchback, rather than an SUV
I think the jury is out on whether this is big enough to be a ‘family’ EV. But it’s certainly a very welcome addition. Now we wait on the pricing….
Bravo Renault. This deserves to do very well.
It reminds me of the last model of the Scenic and it wasn’t a bad looking car, I admire Renault for not following the current design trends; unfortunately it does reflect upon sales.
Didn't really think about the badge until you pointed it out. I like it - nice homage to the style of the 70's/80's design.
Really good video Jonny, you do the one take really well. I like the car, again far too many screens of the wrong type, but its nice that it isn't massive in terms of proportions, though why they had to make it look like a crossover when it isn't I don't know. It is very refreshing though, and the ID is blown away by this
Yes, i test drove these 3 and i liked Renault Megane E-Teck better. Far ahead in so many ways.
This seems like a really great size and functioning car, no mega raking rear cutting into boot space, yet not a huge car if smaller than a focus. Can see this being really ideal for a lot of people.
Great content as per usual. I love your videos. Keep up the hard work.
🤘🏽
Impressed. Knock spots off ID3 lookswise.
Thank you , I have been looking forward for this review
The French are making some seriously top cars these last 5-7 years.
I have ordered my DS 4, I just can't wait to drive it ! It looks so F beautiful, most beautiful car ever !
But that Megane EV, wow... just wow..
Greetings from Germany !
I'm super jealous of all the cool EVs that aren't available in the US.
A lot of road noise from 6:00 really stands out on the mics. Nice looking car and price is getting closer to where it needs to be.
Great looking EV... can't wait until these are stateside
Gorgeous looking car. I am really excited for this one!
Is that a Grandfather clock on your wrist? Anyway, great channel. I really only watch this and Fully-Charged now. Both a good mix of humour and info.
How was the Polestar 2 compared to the Megane???
@@christophlambpie Like a FWD truck. The Polestar 2 is way too heavy. It might be ok as a 4WD, but still too heavy. The Mégane is a lot more fun, has a better suspension, more space for my big feet and is comparable in terms of materials and quality.
My next car will be the Mégane Iconic...
@@gerdrosser1038 I will be test driving the Megane soon too. I think the only advantage of the Polestar is its size and its slightly longer range (on paper). The Megane is £5k cheaper and has a lot mare safety features as standard.
WOW, that was a great one take. It was seamless.
The information graphics in this episode were very cool.
Cheers 👍🏻
Great preview Jonny , my first thought was you must feel right at home with the Allegro steering wheel 😉 and that Renault logo is a retro one that I am sure they used back in the day , seem to remember it from the 70s or 80s😏 ….keep up the great show always an enjoyable watch with awesome content 👍
I’d choose this over an ID3 - seems to be a very well packaged car and it looks normal!
Loving the Allegro steering wheel.
The Talisman was beautiful for the period.
@@shuycg I forgot all about the talisman.
Seems like Renault has some interesting stuff these days, too bad they're not still in North America.
So many options to incorporate the E into the name better rather than tac it on at the end, bit of a shame. (mEgane, MeganE, Megan-e etc)
I cant say i like the styling as it looks too bulbus for me, although there is a lot to like in it as well, but i totally appreciate that its aiming at the crossover market but keeping the hatchback physical proportions, and do love even more for that.... i'd commented in a previous video that i suspect the car manufactures will gradually bring the roof lines and ride height down of both SUVs and Crossovers to the point that they will match current regular cars, and this very much takes that ethos. from an efficiency point of view its the way forward - reduce frontal area and drag, which is essential to give EVs the range they need... another cracking Vid Jonny
Agree that compared to the ID.3 it feels like a better, more premium vehicle.

Jonny, those first intro beats are the lick!!! I could mix them in with a track I'm laying down 😎
An enjoyable and informative review. Looks like a very promising car, but personally I find £35,000 to still be a very hefty price tag. Having a Zoe in the household, we know all about the lower running costs of EVs but the upfront price is still a big barrier to ownership in my opinion.
..as is cost of public charging being similar to petrol!..

Hard to understand why Renault and Nissan didn't dump the front wheel drive configuration for their EVs yet. A new EV platform with FWD makes no sense
Anything that undercuts VW prices is good. Not keen on the gold exterior painted parts.Renault know how to make good looking cars!
It can be had with the gold details in the same colour as the rest of the car.
Thank you!
Always enjoyed Renault as a brand and have owned a few. This is definitely the best looking car in its class.
The charge point on the nose is more vulnerable to damage than on the side. This a plus for me.
