Honestly, most of the levels in this game blow like 95% of the ones from Skywalker Saga out of the water.

Something a lot of people seem to not realize about the lightsaber combat in this game is that if you time the combat button in succession correctly, a particle effect will appear and go through a blocking enemy as well as instantly kill non bosses.

I just tried the iOS version and weirdly enough there are some characters in it that aren’t in the other versions, like Anakin Skywalker (Dark Side) who is apparently just regular Anakin with his burnt face. It also starts with a bunch of characters in the cantina that you haven’t unlocked yet. They also moved the story clips to where the trailer for Indiana Jones usually is and you can watch them at the doors at the end of each Episode room, they turned the Arcade door into the way you play the Episode bonus levels (Minikit/Character Bonus), and all the Episodes + the Bounty Hunter levels are unlocked at the start. You also can’t buy hints like in the console versions. Those are all the differences I’ve found so far but I’ll update this comment if I find more.
Update: Well… I found more. Apparently you don’t lose studs when you die, if you’re using the force on something and get shot it doesn’t take you stop your force use, all the Gold Brick rooms are unlocked by default but you have to both complete them and get True Jedi on each which I’m pretty sure you don’t have to do on the console/PC versions. You can also hold down and press on the character portrait to select any Free Play character and any Story mode character without having to be next to them. There’s also some random new objects and studs in places as far as I can tell.
It’s odd how many little things are different with just the Mobile version. It did come out in 2013 which gave them time to fix some stuff but it’s just weird what they chose to change

Such a good video, though you did make some good points, plus I have a few of my own.
    - Jedi don't have too much in the way of Force abilities, not even Yoda. They could've implemented Force Push on non droid characters or lightsaber throws. The Sith as playable characters are too OP with Force Choke/Lightning. Besides, for the Dooku/Palpatine boss fights, I never liked how you had to swap to the other character when he shocks you with Force Lightning, since Jedi are literally supposed to be able to block it with their lightsabers (especially Yoda, he should be able to block Force Lightning with his hands like in the movies). It should only be fair if you didn't have to swap to the other character and you could singlehandedly counter the Force Lightning.
    - Lego Star Wars 1 had the "high jumping" ability for Jar Jar, General Grievous, and his Bodyguards, which is present in the Prequel Trilogy levels. But in the Original Trilogy levels, it's just non existent.
    - Lego Star Wars 1 had Yoda riding in a floating seat and more agile movement when he had his lightsaber out, so why did they nerf it in Lego Star Wars 2 and here?
    - In both LSW1 and The Complete Saga, I didn't like fighting Grievous's Bodyguards at the end of Chancellor in Peril, since for whatever reason, the glowing effect from swinging your lightsaber is gone until you turn the game off and back on again. I think the disappearance of the lightsaber glowing effect can happen by other means (including in LSW2), but either way, I was always bothered by that.
    - The Bounty Hunter missions are cool, since Boba Fett can fly, and 4-LOM and IG-88 can activate Astromech/Protocol Droid Panels. But why weren't Jango Fett and Zam Wesell included in The Complete Saga? And before you say that it's because they died, Greedo is dead too, and yet he's included as a playable character in the Bounty Hunter missions.
    - Super Story was legitimately a good challenge, having you try to complete all six levels of the movie in under an hour and earn 100,000 studs. Slight correction from the video: you actually DO NOT earn a Gold Brick for completing the Super Story like you do in Lego Star Wars 2, but it does still count towards completion percentage in The Complete Saga. Also, you actually DO NOT need to beat 1 hour and get 100,000 studs for the Super Story to be counted as complete. But I do like those challenges it presents me with. My general advice for Super Stories is to get whatever studs are along the way, but keep moving and don't go too far out of your way for studs. Also, try to not spend more than 10 minutes on one level, which is crucial especially for Return of the Jedi. Ranking the Super Stories in terms of difficulty, I'd regard all three of the Prequels about the same (very easy, can be done in about 30 minutes or less). A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are harder, but manageable enough to beat 1 hour with some time to spare (about 40-50 minutes). Return of the Jedi is easily the hardest due to the long levels (especially Speeder Showdown). But it is possible if you follow my rule of thumb of trying not to be one one level for more than 10 minutes. You'll also collect tons of studs during the final escape portion of Into the Death Star, meaning you'll probably hit 100,000 if you're at 70,000 when you destroy the reactor core. In both this game and LSW2, it took quite some experience to beat the Episode VI Super Story in under an hour. My first sub 1 hour time was at the 59 minute mark, but I believe my best time I've ever done was at 53 minutes.

    6:47 No, it's not.
    There is another way.
    All force user character's have 2 combo's.
    Normal, and heavy.
The heavy combo can hit bosses. To use this combo, you need to press the attack button first, then hold the same button two time's.

You can also do the lunge attack by single jumping and hitting the attack button midair. Some Jedi/Sith even have unique animations for the lunge attacks. Padawan/Jedi Anakin, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Dooku do front flips, while Emperor Palpatine does his spin that he did in the movie.

This genuinely is better than Skywalker Saga. Aside from the obvious bonus of no Disney content, it was just way better structured and had more depth to it. So often during SWS I would find myself being rushed through the game's plot and even worse than that questioning some of the choices they made (no hooded Anakin? Really? It's not like that was an important part of EP3 or anything!) so it's good that we've still got this gem to enjoy instead.
Thanks for covering it and even making me want to play parts I avoided previously!

I actually prefer Lego Star Wars 1's levels. Perhaps its not so fair, because i simply prefer the cool sci fie locations like Kamino or the Jedi temple or Mustafar over desert planets like tatooine. But I gotta admit that there were some cool levels in the Lego Star Wars 2 game too. Like the death star levels, or the hoth level (not the one in the speeder) and the cloud city one.

I think you treated melee combat to harshly, lightsabers are not THAT much broken. You just have to time your hits correctly to break through other melee characters’ block. Playing such way is slower for sure but feels much more satisfying than just repeatedly spamming a ground attack. Besides, personally I really enjoy those combo sequences : 3 however, i understand that many players may have overlooked this mechanic and just go through the whole game spamming the attack button because the game does not explain it at any stage, I figured it out myself quite a few years after my first playthrough

Out of the OT vehicle levels, only the Hoth one is any fun to play. The best vehicle level in the game has to be the battle over Coruscant, that level is epic. I remember grinding that level over and over again to get enough studs to buy the force ghosts.

The ground slam actually isn’t the only way to damage lightsaber characters; if you time your strikes right, you can get pretty brutal combos in that the other character can’t block against. That aside, fantastic review!

  • @DreamerFromTheDepths
    @DreamerFromTheDepths 23 дня назад +1

The Skywalker Saga unfortunately was not nearly good enough to push this game into irrelevancy, I love this game and originally had more to talk about but I've got to correct you on something, the super jedi slam is NOT the only way to damage the bosses, they're also weak against standard jump slashes from one jump, and there's also another mechanic, if you time your attacks properly your lightsaber will have these coloured orbs around it based on the colours of the lightstaber, these versions of the character's attacks cannot be blocked.
That being said bosses are still very easy and not a lot of fun in these games.

A game that proves that you can be mostly charm and presentation and end up a legendary title. It's just such a cozy game, I still prefer it over The Skywalker Saga, even if some might say it's a more "basic" collectathon, but that's sort of the point in those is to 100% them. Also with lightsaber combat, I didn't know that you can actually do power attacks with lightsabers by delaying your button presses (the saber will glow more and sparkle if you do it right). After 3 hits, the 3rd will ignore an enemy's guard guaranteed, like for the Episode 2 Dooku boss.

I always felt that Lego Star Wars 2 and The Complete Sage took a few steps back in a few regads from the original Lego Star Wars
-The Jedi force push ability was way more fun than mind trick
-Dexter's Diner was a better hub than the cantina, especially with the outside area with the characters all going at a constant free-for-all
-Adding a melee punch to blaster characters kinda took away from light saber characters
-The vehicle missions, being fun on rails shooters, instead of top down made them way more fun. I was always disappointed to not have a trench run or Death Star interior in that style.

When using a lightsaber character if you hit X or whatever your attack button is and then hit it again at the end of the swing your lightsaber will sparkle and you can break through any bosses guard. (It can also break through droideka shields) It’s funny that they don’t tell you this at all so most people will just spam the Jedi slam instead
