    1.
    It actually turns out that creating a virtual network is soooo much better than using your internet router. (so wifi is actually better) Go to the top of finder in the toolbar where your wifi is, turn on wifi, click create network... then click create ( doesn't matter what you name it or what channel it is) then make sure both computers and connected to that. Works much smoother with a lot less latency. Trust me on this, it will save you a lot of headaches!!
    2.
    Also another amazing discovery I have made is that if ableton is the master and machine is the slave, things just work a hell of a lot better. Maschine really sucks as the master with midi clocks

    you can essentially do this with any day as long as it can send/receive midi timecode

    Dude! Thank you guy so much! We are so dependent on having two MacBooks working together, amazing work, please help us contact you for more info on this as we need it so much for live performance!

    Concerning your problem about merging the audio of your two computers you can use the Audio interfaces from Iconnectivity. They act like a audio/midi hub for different devices.

      nervenet00 I don't really see what that device has that I can't do already

    how many sync latency you have?

    would you guys be better off having a 2 smaller interfaces like a focusrite saffire pro 14 on the each computer for a nicer DA conversion? Then have the output of both interfaces go to the liquid 56. So now when you play live, you can have two separate interfaces and send it to front of house and not lug around an expensive liquid 56.

      Maybe but we would need direct boxes I'm guessing to avoid double preamping

      Double preamping to the PA? It shouldn't be a problem cause you would have two different outputs from the SF14. You wouldn't have to use the headphone outs. You could send different channels to different outs from the SF14. The Safire Pro 14 have similar routing as the Liquid 56.

      +Nathanael Siahaan for a live setup it prob would be best to have two interfaces but, in the studio this is just a way to reference the audio for realtime playback without having to buy any other gear. Theres no way I'm recording the output of a MacBook Pro into an interface when I can just export the stems and merge them into the session for mixing and mastering. Ill probably end up routing some of the stems through my liquid channel to add some color later tho.

    I just use a mixer... I have a little mixer for 2 of my keyboards and my big hardware mixer for my audio interface for everything else.

    check out vienna ensemble pro, for sending audio from one computer to another via ethernet.

    hello guys i tried to synchronize my i mac and my macbook everything look good but when i push play ableton doesn start at all i dont know what to do have you got a idea

    • @SubbParProductions
      @SubbParProductions  9 лет назад

      Nicolas Trincheiras I think it depends which is master and which is slave

    • @SubbParProductions
      @SubbParProductions  8 лет назад

      Have you tried linking it to the master session? In most cases ableton should be the master because the. Master clock in machine really doesn't work that well unless it's slave

    I can't use an ad hoc WiFi solution because I can not set a password. Computers will be open to anyone in the neighbourhood ant that is a no no. I send audio from mac A audio output straight to mac B audio input/line in. I take play the audio on an aux bus in Logic. Sender is Ableton. Best of both worlds or a 200% reality setup.

      An Ethernet cable between the two computers is better due to less latency and it also isn’t over a WiFi network making it private

      Yes it's giga-bit connection. I have 50 internet users in my house and if my network shows up without a securing password. I wonder if there is any info on getting the audio ouput from mac A on *the ethernet cable* and into mac B? I could add a third network mac if audio can run on ethernet cables and be monitored.
